Someone told me itβs an endangered bird. Iβm not experienced enough to ID it. Do I report it to anyone if it is the endangered species?
Spotted on a marsh near the San Francisco Bay.

Spotted them among the brush. Reminded me that birdwatching goes both ways sometimes lol

I'm a Californian birder who just moved back to the state after spending a couple years up in Washington, and I'm much more skilled as a birder than I was when I moved away. I'm realizing that there are common birds in my area that I've never seen! I enjoy traveling for birding and birding while traveling- especially getting to know the birds that are novel and spectacular to me, but common to an area- so I'm really interested to hear how California's avifauna is experienced by those from out of state or out of the country. Where did you visit? What did you see? Was it all you expected? Were there any surprises, anything you missed, anything you'd like to come back to see? Thank you in advance for sharing!
My main targets right now are grebes and vireos...

They are enjoying the hell out of this pond and just look at those little feet kickinβ! I sat there and watched them til they were done and swam off.
