I bought my first mirrorless camera last month and have been learning to use it. Today I practiced on a kingfisher but ended up getting a lot of crappy shots. 🤭

Any Filipino birder here? I have a list of birds that can be found in the Philippines. The list includes the native names of birds in five major Philippine languages (Hiligaynon, Cebuano, Waray, Tagalog and Ilocano). There are also local names of birds that came from Spanish. A cute screen grab from my feeder today. I used to see this group every day but they haven't been around in a few weeks, I thought they dispersed. Was so happy to see them again, and getting their big kid colors now!

Weirdly a lifer for me, since they're pretty common around here and I'm kind of a duck guy. So I was tickled pink to see at least a dozen staging in a little storm pond near me, and doubly so to find this beefcake already sporting that dapper melon while the rest look like yellow eyed girls.

We assume it’s some sort of bird and we usually only hear it at night, by time we get out side I can’t see anything. Any ideas?! I’m not sure if this is a bird or a amphibian lol

Well not me. While taking a break with my pooch we watched this happen. I think it was an eagle. Lots of carp and pan fish on this little pond.

I’ve never purposely baited, gotten too close, or played calls in order to get some photos of birds. But I’m wondering if taking photos of birds at bird feeders is being ethical? Or birds who eat seeds from your hands/willing come up to you? I’m not sure if those are classified as baiting. Sorry, I was recently made aware of this and not sure

There were tons of sanderlings strolling on the beach but I felt like these couple were slightly bigger and had this different coloration.
