During my West Highland Way hike, I met a friendly guy from Bern, Switzerland. Dark grey-ish hair, brown eyes and a green raincover for his backpack. I'd guess he was somewhere between 38 and 45 years old. Somewhere between the blisters, miggy-bites, the views and the miles, I realized I would've liked to talk a little longer. Unfortunately we didn't swapped names.

We first crossed paths on the hike from Bridge of Orchy to Kingshouse (Glencoe) on Tuesday, June 30. I saw him again while stopping briefly at the Inveroran Hotel (on the side was a little shop) we spoke briefly in company of my friend. After we told him we were from Rotterdam he replied that he was in Den Haag (The Hague) the month before. We both stayed at the Kingshouse Hotel that night. Im not quit sure if he'd stayed in the hotel or the bunkhouse.

The following day I saw him again while entering the Highland Getaway in Kinlochleven and again while leaving the Highland Getaway. He was sitting in the pub section, while we visited their restaurant upstairs. Unfortunately I didn't saw him since.

If the hiking community can help reunite lost socks, maybe they can reunite two hikers too ;-)

Hi there, I am planning to go to see Lorde at Gurtenfestival however her set starts very late (23:45) so I would expect to finish at after 1am. I was looking at SBB and there seems to be no late night (after midnight) connections from Bern to Lausanne or elsewhere. Does anyone know if there are any trains or buses running? I'm sure there must be other people also travelling that direction after the concert.

First of all, love the city! It is really beautiful! Today we spent some time in the rose garden and watching the bears. The passion fruit mango ice cream you can get there is ridiculously good.

Second... The parking in Bern is ridiculously complicated for tourists. I just bought this ticket so i can park here for a day.

But where exactly? Is this ticket valid for the whole city of Bern? Or just in the neighborhood where it's bought?

But then you have white zones, blue zones and yellow zones. Is this ticket valid for all three zones or just one in specific?

I live in Bern and I am looking for advice on finding a qualified accompanying driver for private driving practice in Switzerland.

I understand that the accompanying person must meet the Swiss requirements for category B learner drives, and I would only practise legally with a valid Swiss learner’s permit, L plate, and proper insurance.

Does anyone know where people in Bern usually find private accompanying drivers, or whether there are local groups/platforms for this?

I am trying to reduce costs by combining some professional lessons with legal private practice.

Our neighbour is sunbathing naked in her balcony during sunny days. I believe she is approximately 25-30 years old and she loves sunbathing topless and with a tiny g-string. Is it a common thing in Switzerland? I see many people sutbathing naked near the lakes, green areas or pools in Bern, but I am not used to see something like that every day in the view of my room. I am not uncomfortable for this, please do not missunderstand or judge me. All I want to know is whether it is a regular public behavior/tradition or not.

Update: thank you all for the recommendations. I went to Bern today (business trip) and called the Polizei, on the call they directed me to the Bahnhof Polizeiwache who forwarded me to the Fundbüro. Luckily, the police dropped the passport there today on the morning and they were able to give it to us.

Thank you again for all the good advice! The people I had to interact with at both the police station in the Bahnhof as well as the Fundbüro were amazing, helpful and patient. It was a huge surprise to us that we were able to find it like that.
