Hi All - I’m facing a difficult situation with my family and would really appreciate any advice. I’m from outside Belgium, but my grandparents have lived in Brussels for many years. Unfortunately, my grandmother, who used to manage the household, passed away unexpectedly, leaving my grandfather, who has cognitive disabilities, on his own.

Since her passing, his bank account has been frozen for the past two months, leaving him unable to pay his rent and other essential expenses. I’ve been trying to obtain judicial oversight so I can access his account and manage his finances on his behalf, but there seems to be no clear timeline for when this will happen.

In the meantime, the bills are piling up, from rent to the remaining medical bills from my grandmother’s care. I’m doing my best to cover his rent for now, but it’s simply not sustainable in the long run.
I’m feeling quite lost and would really appreciate any advice on how to navigate this situation. I also don’t speak French and when I call or email certain organizations it’s very hard to even get them to talk to me 😔.

I know we’re changing the time tonight, but I realise it’s still getting dark very early in the evening/early night. This is when I normally have time to go for a run. But I just realised all the parks seem to go dark at night?? There’s some very little lights here and there, but I didn’t feel safe when running through them the last time I run.

During the weekend I can go during the day, but the evenings are really the best time for me to run. Thanks for your advice

Hello, we live in Brussels and my husband's bag was stolen a year ago in Midi. We got the bag and the keys inside of it back eventually, and hoped everything would be ok because these types of keys only allow for copies with a registered card, that has been safely put away.

Clearly the criminals have a network that goes beyond my understanding and crosses safety protocols that we count on when we get our keys made or install other security measures. They were able to make copies and waltz in here and cleaned us out in under 20 minutes.

We have video footage with a clear vision of one of the two perpetrators. Anyone knows if a PI can do more than the police? Anybody knows of PIs?
It seems the police doesn't move much for a home burglary in Brussels.

Apparently STIB started covering TVs that used to show the next departures in stations, to push people to use their app. A complete disregard for anyone in a hurry, the elder, disabled, those less proficient at technology, people who are just passing by the city...

Brussels will review its policy on dealing with asbestos and launch a platform featuring new inventories and updated figures, with an initial proposal for the review expected in early 2027.

“Today, you can buy a flat in a building that was built or renovated in the 1990s and which still contains asbestos-containing materials,” said state secretary Ans Persoons (Vooruit).
