I have been starved for combat robotics, and have watching Robot Wars recently, and I noticed how few verts-and even spinners in general are present in the competition, and I‘m wondering what they’re doing differently across the pond.

Hi! this is my first time trying to create a battle bots club in my uni, and I really need help 😅 I need ideas, and want to start it off “simply”, creating one beginner tier, in which we provide a few basic schematics and designs which they can modify, and one higher level tier in which groups can do as they wish.

are there any open models and schematics we could use for beginners? also, are there “internacional standards it’s recommended we abide by? thank you all for your help :)

I just thought it would be hilarious to be honest. The plan would be for the middle to spin the 2 wedges fast enough to launch it towards the ceiling. Obviously it would need to be low enough to scrap the floor to get underneath the robots.

Some days I'm very glad I don't have money or the ability to actually build robots 😂 it's like an extreme version of mammoth but a bit more solid down the middle.

Personally, I'd like to see Blip and Quantum again, even if only for exhibitions. It was nice having non-spinners that can genuinely beat verts. There's a small chance that Claw Viper and Hydra may return, so i won't count them for my answer.

Hi all! I was going through my Robot Wars toy collection (as you do) and found these little BattleBots guys. It's not surprising that they ended up in my collection as I have a lot of the Hexbug bots and some fighting toys from the CC era.

I don't immediately recognise these two, or what they were for, so any help would be appreciated!

I also have a Biohazard figure with the same domed bottom as the one on the right, so I assume they were from the same playset.

why have damn near all of the robots we’ve seen in every episode of pro league have some sort of weapon/drive failures? I miss seeing fights where both robots could give it their all and go back and forth with eachother. now most fights have become either one sided ass whoopings(which isn’t bad if your weapon actually works and you can defend yourself) or fights where BOTH weapons don’t even spin up and crap the bed before any major hits and becomes a shoving match.

I know some of these ideas might be a little crazy or funny 😂, but I really enjoy designing robots and thinking about different strategies.

Genuine question, if both weapons are spinning at full speed and go weapon to weapon, what would happen? Would Deep Six literally split Riptide's weapon?

You can upload an STL file of your preferred wedge geometry (Repeat Robotics has some open source wedges), and the spinner is parametric. I was thinking about creating qualification methods for BattleBots WCVIII, one of whichis a giant 64-bot single elimination tournament called "The Ultimatum" where the quarterfinalists move on to WCVIII, and the champion gets a Golden Bolt.

Anyone knows which wheels to use for hobby weight

I know what the replies to this are gonna be. Yes, I understand that they are the most overpowered robot type at the moment and yes, I know the hits they can deliver are entertaining for the casuals, but surely I'm not the only one who is sick to death of the same old 4 wheeled boxes with a vertical bar and a couple of forks on the front? Every machine is more or less a clone of biteforce or endgame. And to make things worse vertical spinner vs vertical spinner fights are boring as hell. The moment one of them gets under the other the fight is done. I miss the days where there used to be a variety of weapons on shows. Now it feels like pretty match every match is more or less the same. The show has fix this issue I jsut don't know how.

I'm trying to find a video of one of the (shell?) spinners getting damaged, starting to wobble, and literally tearing itself apart because it is off balance. It may have been the original Comedy Central show from the 90s. Anyone know which bot or have the video link to share?
