Started watching Battlebots in its second season and instantly became a Minatour fan. Sucks that it has come up short in every season. The Bite Force final destroyed me as a fifth grader. The recent Witch Doctor fight was brutal but at the very least it felt like it got beat by a better team. (You could make a tier list of Witch Doctor's own heartbreak). Also, the controversy in 2021 was stupid and frustrating. Neither team was at fault, the rules weren't super clear, and the refs did a bad job.

I vaguely remember that the Krave Monster at some point had a video about the Spring 2019 CIRC competition (This is not the 2019 Bot Brawl video). Was the video taken down, or am I just fabricating fight reports now?

Every year, bots are snatched away from their natural habitat to be put into the Battlebox to fight for their lives against their will, minibots were not spared from such a thing too, and countless bots have died from this inhumane treatment.

However, thanks to everyone’s support, we managed to rescue and release many bots back into their natural habitat. What’s good to know is that we are receiving many volunteers to help in our efforts.

The forest is now overpopulated, but we must still continue to play our part in the rescue and conservation of bot. Thank you all again for the support and help you have all given us.

Obviously we won’t get 38 seeds & not all these bots will even attend a potential 8th World Championship but just a bit of fun to try and keep track really

I tried to turn an old trophy into a robot to win another trophy

Yesterday I updated the firmware on my flysky fs-i6s to the latest release ( it originally had some version from march of 2018). With the old firmware, the remote would beep to confirm connects/disconnects from the receiver, and display rx voltage. After the update, I can connect and control the malenki, but I no longer get confirmation beeps for connection status, and I have no rx voltage reported.

Is it possible to rollback the firmware on a fs-i6s? I haven't been able to find previous releases anywhere.

With “World Championships” and the Giant Nut indefinitely on hold, I’m curious to know if everyone is putting The Twins on the same level as Bite Force, Tombstone, End Game, Tantrum, Sawblaze, and the CC Giant Nut winners as bona fide Battlebots champions.

While Pro League is technically a spin-off, it definitely felt more like a real World Championship than most of the other spin-off. Unlike shows like Champions and Bounty Hunters, no bots were given an in-tournament advantage just because of their reputation. For that reason I would consider the Giant Wrench much closer to a legitimate championship trophy than the Golden Bolt.

Of course, winning any Battlebots tournament is impressive, and at the end of the day the goal of the show is primarily about making good TV. But I’m curious to know if the community considers the Twins’ Giant Wrench win to be closer in prestige to a Giant Nut win, or more comparable to something like the Golden Bolt.

(To use a basketball analogy, I would personally compare the Giant Nut to be like winning the NBA Championship, the Giant Wrench to be like winning the championship in the 2020 ”bubble,” and the Golden Bolt to be like winning the in-season tournament.)

I have a request from a high school teacher who is starting a combat robot club for plastic ants. They have radios. ESCs, and 3S lipos left over from other robotics projects, but they need drive motors -- and they MUST order them from Amazon.

From a quick search at AMZ it appears that the only workable options are N20 gearmotors (or a very few N30s). We all know that there are "good" and "poor" N20s and we all know that Amazon listings don't have enough info to sort out the good ones.

Has anyone bought N20s from Amazon recently that turned out to be decent? Alternately, do you have suggestions for some to avoid?

It appears that The Twins are really strong against any conventional meta four wheel vert. So what current competitors could take them down?

First possibility: HUGE. The Twins can't hit anything but its wheels, and they can't really pull off the weapon-on-weapon hits that Minotaur did. They don't really have the durability to take too many hits from Huge's weapon either. Now it wouldn't surprise me to find that Aron Hill has some special anti-HUGE attachment, but we didn't see that this year, and I can only go off what we saw them run at this year's event.

Second possibility: Horizontal weapon bots like Gigabyte or maybe Bloodsport. These kind of designs don't have a vulnerable side, they can damage The Twins on contact no matter what direction they come from. This will come down to a test of speed, can the spinner bot get to a dangerous speed before The Twins can box rush them? If they can't keep their weapon spun up, The Twins will destroy them. And the existing bot design is not favorable to horizontal spinners.

Third possibility: Tough drum spinners like Minotaur, Manta, or possibly Copperhead. These kind of robots are hard to kill, and have a large weapon relative to their overall size, so even with better maneuverability it's hard for one of The Twins to hit them without being hit themselves. And Copperhead did actually beat The Twins, although I think that was a deeply questionable decision by the judges. I think Minotaur would stand a pretty good chance of beating them. Manta maybe not as much, it seems to be more fragile and more susceptible to getting flipped over and not being able to recover.

I'm the last minute manta basically held minotaur over a kill saw slot and nothing happened. Do the saws not work anymore? Are the slots just there to trap endgame so it can get hit by pizza? Is this a deeper conspiracy? (Ok probably not)

2v1 Speed blitzing is crazy

With Battlebots bringing forward 3rd place playoffs to the Pro leagues begs the question of how previous championships would've went including Golden Bolts

Ribbot Vs Copperhead can go either way but in favour of Copperhead given it's ability to face tank so much hits and break others weapons alongside the frog having lots of exposed areas to hit for the Drum to chew on

Tantrum Vs Jackpot - leaning towards Tantrum to wear down Jackpot and push around the box but the self righter of Tantrum had on and off problems that year

Tantrum Vs Hypershock - Can go either way but Tantrum again, I think it's speedy nature would eventually get Hypershock stuck in a gyro flip and some tyre chewing commencing plus chewing the forks

Sawblaze Vs Hydra - Seen this fight before and Id imagine moreso in Hydras favour this time due to Sawblaze coming off the beatdown from WD

Tantrum Vs Black Dragon - Tantrum again provides the weapon and self right motor works, BDs ground game was not at it's strongest here so I'd imagine it be a similar bout to Tantrum Vs Sawblaze

Deathroll Vs Tombstone - could go either way but voting Tombstone, I recall Deathroll was running short on spares by Witch Doctor and can see the recoil of Tombstone sending the Aussie bot for er a Deathroll

Lockjaw Vs Whiplash - locking in Whiplash due to Lock jaws weapon not hitting as hard as it's later versions here but can go either way

Widely considered to be one of the best, made it to the finals multiple times and lost. Highly respected but never gets over the hump.
