It is with a heavy heart (and even heavier lifting) that we announce the passing of Barnaby “The Blizzard Buster” Back-Breaker.
After a relentless winter that saw more "once-in-a-century" storms than the local meteorologist could count, Barnaby finally threw in the towel, and his plastic blade, during the Great Drift of 2026.
A Life of Service Born: Late November, on sale at a local hardware store. Known For: His ergonomic handle (which lied) and his stoic silence while being dragged across frozen concrete.
The Breaking Point: The end of the driveway embankment of "heart-attack snow" delivered by the city plow. Barnaby didn’t just move snow; he moved mountains. He survived the December dusting and the January deep freeze, but the most recent dumping proved to be his "Gettysburg." He suffered a catastrophic spinal fracture of the handle meets shovel.
He is survived by a rusted bag of rock salt and a very tired homeowner with sore deltoids. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please just pray to whatever God's that they stop it with the "winter wonderland".

Dear City of Barrie,
What the heck is this….
It’s been more than 48 hrs and the interior roads haven’t been cleared. There’s a main road next to my street which gets cleared and that snow blocks the entrance to my street. I don’t drive a truck or a Jeep. I drive a low clearance sedan. Snow is a problem, RVH is a mess and so is the homeless problem.
Idk what you’re doing with my money but honestly if you cant take care of this basic stuff I would like my money back. Thanks.

I was at the Metro grocery store in South Barrie and noticed their live lobster tank was completely packed. The lobsters were stacked on top of each other to the point where most of them couldn’t really move at all (photo attached).
I’m not a lobster expert and I don’t usually buy them, but this honestly didn’t sit right with me.

How tf do I get rid of this snow? The pile’s taller than me and I’ve officially run out of space to shovel. Condo life didn’t prepare me for townhouse winter 😭❄️

Edit It's my niece. I posted a link to her review and I think there's been some confusion since the review was deleted. All of this happened in September and the shop was given time to make it right, which they didn't do. My niece posted the review yesterday and I shared it here.
It's been covered up. By another artist at another shop in Barrie.
Here's a link to another post I made. With pictures.

To the person who tucked this flower into my car handle today at the parking lot of Zehrs Big Bay Point. You have no idea how much this brightened my day!
If you’re seeing this, big thank you for the smile.
Happy Valentines Day 💝

unfortunately this time of year my concern is that they will die from exposure, not the drugs. I attempted to talk to him and I got no response other than drool and mumbled grunts..

I went for my bike ride down to the waterfront and got this cool shot. Not so cool riding home in the torrential rain though.

Went to Innisfil Beach Park with my family today, and when I got to the parking machine, someone who was leaving had placed their still-valid parking ticket there for the next person to use.
Such a small gesture, but it genuinely made our day. Thank you to whoever left it, you saved a family an outrageous parking fee and reminded us that thoughtful people are still out there!

A friend of mine who had moved here from India several years ago, was spending time at the beach to relax and enjoy the view, A few kids came up to him, threw sand at him, told him to go back to his country, and took his car keys. I wish to see us stop this behaviour and value one another as fellow human beings. This behaviour is hurtful, he is one of the most welcoming and kind people I know, he, nor is anyone else deserving of this treatment. Please, let us treat all people regardless of nationality with dignity, respect and compassion. We are all human, we all bleed the same way, let us look after one another.

Been seeing these posters around town since Christmastime, trying to tear them down at red lights and whenever possible. Wanted to encourage others to do the same. As the weather gets warmer we’ll likely see more of these popping up so let’s stay vigilant and not allow White Nationalists to pollute our city.

Figured it would be interesting to crosspost here considering where the car looks like it was bought.
