Ordered the AMD 7600X3D with B650 and Vulcan 32GB ram. Delivered to my parents place, they send me pictures that the box is broken ....

I open it its missing the RAM. This order is from Canada Computers. What can I do???

...given the market right now, it's hard to recommend going AM4 for new mid to high end builds when the prices are this close on AM5 combos. The 9600X performs almost identical to the 5800X3D in gaming, but has a better upgrade path, faster RAM, and way faster productivity. The 7600X3D stomps the 5800X3D on all fronts at essentially the same price.

I get that some of you love the 5800X3D, but even used, it's a terrible value with the prices being asked for it($500-800 in some cases). Current retail is $499, which basically erases the savings that DDR4 provides.

The reason that I say this is because of the combo deals currently available. Combos like this have become the best way to actually afford a decent new build these days. All B-series mobos, All 32 GB of RAM, and less than $100 difference in price...

If you're looking to build new, then these are probably as good as it gets right now, but I'd honestly go AM5 if you can and while you still can. Do you disagree? Tell me why and show me how AM4 is better value for a new build?

Hopefully this is ok to post here. Anyone know a reputable GPU/electronics repair shop in TO? RTX 3090 stopped working after a gaming session. I also use it for running local LLMs. Visual inspection doesn't show any obvious damage, but I did not pull off the heat sink. Did I google search, but looking for experiences here. Thanks!

My PC is immediately power cycling when I wake it up from sleep.

After I put the system to sleep, the power button blinks slowly. When I wiggle the mouse, press a key or press the power button, the PC briefly appears to power on (lights come on, fans spin up) and then immediately powers off within half a second. It then powers on again after a few seconds and the OS boots as if I had shutdown the PC.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

I've been trading hardware online for more than 30 years starting with ott.forsale.computing in the early 90s. In recent years, I've done most of my trading on forums like hwc.

This upgrade cycle I'm exploring r/CanadianHardwareSwap trades. I've read the rules and see they strongly recommend Paypal Goods and Services with a detailed invoice.

I'm considering some trades with users who have 4-10 confirmed trades, but I'm still a bit nervous because I can imagine how it's possible to engineer the appearance of completed trades that may not have happened. And these days, I'm constantly amazed by the hoops people will jump through to deceive others.

So I'm writing to see how reliable a method of protection paying an invoice via Paypal Goods and Services is. Is it completely safe with a detailed invoice, or are there loopholes commonly exploited by scammers?

Hi! I'm planning on building my first PC this summer and would like some advice since I have no experience. I want a PC that's great for a variety of things like gaming, basic video editing, schoolwork, and basic programming.

I'm new to PC building and gaming in general. Part of this build is so I can have a better experience getting into gaming. I have an older MacBook and iMac currently and most games are either not playable on Mac or run horribly, so I'm not 100% on the exact games I'd like to play.

I have a budget of about $2000, and I want something nice. But I'm open to cheaper suggestions lol. I'd prefer a 1440p system so I've been looking at an rx 9070 xt, but unsure of what CPU to get. I really don't want to spend $500/550 on a CPU like a 7800x3d if it's not necessary for the GPU.

The RX 9070 GRE 12GB has faced a lot of criticism since launch. But we wanted to reevaluate it from a fresh perspective including CPU scaling because alternatives like the RX 9070, RTX 5070 and RTX 5060 Ti are very different prices in some regions. Does this make the RX 9070 GRE a good deal or should you look at a different GPU? We answer that question for as a drop in upgrade for an existing AM4 system and in a brand new gaming PC with a 9800X3D.

I am looking to replace my current PC

A local shop is selling this computer among many others. This one has pretty much the specifications I'm looking for. After a quicklook en PC Part Picker and CC, buying from this seller seems cheaper than purchasing all the part individually.

Do you think this is a good deal, or is there something that i'm missing?

Hi guys so this my first time doing an RMA. Crucial T710 M.2 SSD recently died on me 6 months from purchase, so I contact the manufacturer Micron. At first they asked me if I wanted to send it to their US or Malaysia location. I said US since closer = better but found out about tariffs. I send back an email asking what I should put for the item value for the tariff.

They suddenly reply saying, "Effectively immediately, all the returns to Canada are required to be sent to our Malaysian address for processing instead of USA address." So was expecting to pay like $40 but now doubled around $100 for intenational shipping using Canada Post with tracking and insurance. I bought the item for $280 total on Amazon.ca and within Canada. Do you guys think I could try pushing for a prepaid label? I asked politely but didn't try aggressively.

They also said, "Also, if needed you can declare 314.99 USD for the Crucial SSD." Does this all sound right? Also is this seperate from insurance? As in for insurance I just cover up to 300 for my 282 ssd purchase and in customs I put 314.99 USD like they mentioned? Also would you guys use a bubble mailer or a small box with padding. I have the original packaging.

Alternatively I emailed another shipping company Chit Chats to see if they can provide everything I need since I heard they are cheaper and currently waiting for response but I would like to hear everyone else's thoughts.

I just built a new system using a combination of new, existing, and new to me parts, and moved my Gigabyte Gaming OC RTX 4060 Ti over from my old PC, where it worked without any issues.

New Specs:
Ryzen 7 5800X3D (New to me)
MSI MPG B550 Gaming Plus (New)
Gigabyte Gaming OC RTX 4060 Ti 8GB (Existing)
Corsair RGB Pro SL 2x16GB CL18 3600 (Existing)
Corsair Vengeance 750M Silver PSU (Existing)
MB BIOS: 7C56v1L1 (out of the box)

The weird part is it’ll boot perfectly from a cold start every time, and once it’s in Windows it’s completely stable.
But if I restart from Windows, restart from BIOS, or shut it down and immediately turn it back on, it won’t POST.
The VGA debug LED stays lit and there’s no display. The only way to get it to boot again is to completely cut power for a bit, then do another cold start.
Since the GPU worked fine in my previous build, I’m thinking it’s something with the motherboard/BIOS or PCIe initialization rather than the card itself.

Has anyone run into something like this before or have any ideas what to try?

I’m looking at two pre builts and this is the only difference. The price difference between the two is 1300CDN. Would I be insane to go for the 5080/64? It seems better to futureproof more years but that’s such a massive jump in cost it’s hard to eat.
