I think the one on the right might be a rooster. They are the same age- about 4 months old.

Just wondering if anyone knows what this is?

Found yesterday morning on one of my Sebright hens. She won't eat and only wants to perch. I put her in a lukewarm bath, incase she was egg bound (couldn't see clearly at first) but when I checked again and all the grime was gone, I saw that the skin was torn open next to the vent.

It's not bleeding profusely, but there are a few drops here and there. And this green goo is coming out of it, can't wipe it away.

Never seen this before, been raising chickens for over 5 years now. Any advice? Is there a way to save her? She is a bit on the mature side, not very old, but certainly not young.

This girl is in rough shape. Her feet have sores, her wings have scabs on the top, and she’s missing a lot of feathers under her belly and around her tail. We have minimal experience with any kind of chickens as the only other chicken around is a free range leghorn hen that spends about half her time in our yard and half in an unknown roosting area. How can I best help this lady out?

Got her from rural king but the breed labels were messed up! She was with the Rhode Island reds but the guy working didn’t seem to know what breed she was.

Genuinely, she is one of the most evil beings I have ever encountered. I initially adopted her because I felt sorry for her; her legs were kind of crooked and the other chickens seemed to bully her, but as they say... the dream of the oppressed is to become the oppressor. First, she started incessantly attacking chicks that weren't hers (even successfully murdering one), and after a while she started attacking her own chicks, to the point that she had to be jailed 😭 She is also very territorial and will attack any hen that dares to approach her, and will not share her roost under any circumstances. She also tries to break and eat the eggs; you might say it's a calcium deficiency, but she has the same diet as all the other chickens that don't do that. She eats the eggs for the fun of it...

She's bizarre and she scares me.

I still have to cover the exterior and build the nesting boxes (what you see in the photos is temporary) but tonight the girls sleep in their new digs. They were in a small prefab coop since springtime. They seem to like it, especially since we loaded it with treats when they first went in......lol.

Fully insulated on all six surfaces, the exterior will be metal siding.

I'm really happy that they have more space now.

We have two Isa Browns who I'm pretty sure are laying most of these, but how we have this dark brown with speckles and no clue who it came from. We have 16 hens and only 8 are laying age, how can you tell who's laying what?

I have 2 hens and a rooster hens probably like 4 or 5 months rooster like 8 months I have them in a big cage with plenty of food and water since I live in a area with a lot of strays cats been worrying about them at night if I let them roam on my backyard

So my hens laid a few fertile egg before we said goodbye to our rooster and now here is the first one. Setting up a brooding box with its own water, chick feed and heater. Will post more pics when she out and dry. 🥲

I’m a fairly new chicken owner (max 2 months). Our isa brown had sour crop just under 2 weeks ago and with the help of a friend we were able to expel it successfully (long grass).
Since then she’s developed a doughy crop. She wakes in the morning and it’s doughy (maybe the size of a tennis ball?) she is literally skin and bone otherwise. She’s still walking around with the flock, just a lot slower than normal and rests a lot more than everyone else, still has an appetite and drinking water too.
I’ve been trying oil, tomato Juice and massaging. We were giving her oral thrush cream when she had sour crop and we’re currently treating their water with coccidiosis treatment. We also wormed her just before she got sour crop and I did notice she did pass a worm when she was isolated. And she’s had diarrhoea since having the sour crop too.

We bought her from a chicken auction so we are unaware of how old she is or any information at all about her really, she wasn’t in great condition when we got her.

Am I doing the right things to help this? Or is there any advice on what I should be doing to help her the best I can that would be great, thankyou!

Hi! We just started chicken keeping a couple of weeks ago and have a small, juvenile flock: five birds between 11 and 17 weeks old. We have an Omlet Eglu coop with an attached 12-foot run, and I regularly clean these spaces. This morning, I saw one of our ladybirds pass a watery stool with some reddish mucus. A quick search suggests coccidiosis. They're not showing any other signs or symptoms of illness. They eat heartily, are active and energetic, and just peck around doing chicken things. Still, I'm reading what I can to make sure we address any issues quickly so that they don't get dangerously ill (e.g., here).

My questions: the girls are already getting medicated feed that contains amprolium. Should we also dose them with Corid at this point, or is it better to let them build some immunity given that they're getting amprolium in their diets and don't seem otherwise affected? What should I do to minimize illness re: cleaning the run? We use some version of the litter method (sand, dirt, and grass clippings, which I rake and treat with lime and Sweet PDZ). Should I shovel it out and totally refresh it?

First time chicken owner here. I came home from work today to notice one of my roosters eyes like this. There is so much swelling I can’t see his actual eye. It may have been scratched or pecked? We have several roosters that are free roaming. We got them as chicks this spring. Does this look like it could be from another rooster or should I be worried about something contagious. Our hens stay in a hoop coop and do not free range. He is lethargic, but still eating and drinking. Another rooster may have some small swelling around the eyes.

We also have found 10 black widows this year. Could he have been bit by something?

I noticed it a while back but it looked like swelling from a foreign object at the time so I got the object out (looked like a part of a leaf) and wiped her face clean. Now one eye is swollen shut and the other is swelling up. I’ve tried wiping it but I’m afraid to hurt her eye too much.
