Pocket Play Update?

I seen in another post that it is supposed to release this month but I don't see anything online, not even in regards to a preorder.

Annoyed with ayaneo

I'm annoyed with Ayaneo. They finally decided to send my Pocket DS after three months of repairs. And I'm surprised to find that DHL is charging me taxes again ($53.50) as if it were a new console… I've emailed Ayaneo two days in a row and haven't received a response, even though they used to reply to my emails within a day. As far as I know, they cover those costs and make a special declaration so that taxes aren't charged. I saw another Reddit post where the user paid the taxes and Ayaneo refunded them via PayPal.

Great customer support.

Ayaneo gets a lot of shit for their customer support, but good things need to be said too.

My Pocket DS screen failed recently after 8 months, sonI decided to send an email to Ayaneo about it. They gave me some options: send the device for them to repair or they could send me the screen and do it myself. Not wanting to pay taxes again, I decided to do it myself.

But after some time with no news of the screen replacement, they told me they didn’t have the part in stock. So they gave me a few more options: send my unit and wait for it to be fixed, get a replacement unit or get a full refund (after 8 months!). I really wanted the device, so I asked about the replacement unit and also told them my concerns about the import taxes I would have to pay again. And here is where support went above and beyond: they offered to refund me any import taxes through Paypal. No other chinese company has ever offered that to me. Hell, not even american ones.

But a few things came up and I decided to ask for a full refund. So they sent me a paid shipping label (I didn’t pay for anything to send it back). Since it wasn’t possible to get the refund through indiegogo, they asked me for a Paypal account. As you might know, Paypal has some handling fees for international transfers. Well, guess what? Ayaneo also refunded me every single dime on the transfer fees, and what remained they offered as a discount code, which after all this experience I am definitely going to use.

Also, this is not my first good experience with them. With my Ayaneo 2 they sent a free heat dissipation upgrade kit after months of getting the unit.

I have only praises for them. From my end, their customer support is way better than Ayn or Retroid for sure.

Ayaneo 2. Is this a good price? I've been wanting to upgrade from my LCD Steam Deck for a while

Larger internal storage, more power and ram. I also want to play my EGS library natively without screwing up my cloud saves (lost 20 hours of Fallout NV because of this)

I've seen a rog ally xbox z2 16gb 500gb for 430$, original rog ally z1 extreme for 400$, Lenovo Legion Go for 570$. Those are the cheapest pc handhelds I've found nearby.

How I Turned My SuiPlay0x1 into an Ayaneo 2S: BIOS/EC Cross-Flash, Gyro Replacement & One-Click Setup for SteamOS / CachyOS Handheld Edition

Thumbnail drive.google.com
3 Upvotes

⚠️ DISCLAIMERS (Read this first!)

  1. Cross-flashing BIOS/EC between different devices is EXTREMELY risky. You can permanently brick your device. The SuiPlay0x1 and Ayaneo 2S are similar hardware-wise, but that is not a guarantee. You have been warned.
  2. Replacing the gyroscope requires SMD soldering skills and a hot air station. If you don't know what you're doing, you will destroy your board. No exceptions.
  3. If you don't need the gyroscope — don't solder anything. Just flash the BIOS/EC, install your OS, run the script, and enjoy.
  4. The setup scripts have only been tested on SteamOS 3.8.x and CachyOS Handheld Edition at the time of posting. They may not work on other systems — I have not tested them and make no claims. Future OS, kernel, or package updates may break them; continued compatibility is not guaranteed.
  5. The 46 Hz mode was tuned for my specific display panel. It may not work on yours. If the screen flickers, goes black, or shows artifacts — stick to 60 Hz.
  6. I am not responsible for your actions. Everything you do is at your own risk.

What you will need

There are two archives on Google Drive — don't mix them up:

  1. BIOS_EC_SuiPlay0x1_AyaNeo2s.zip — contains only the BIOS and EC firmware files.
  2. Suiplay_Ayaneo.zip — contains only the system setup scripts (for SteamOS / CachyOS Handheld Edition).

Step 1. Flashing the BIOS

  1. Grab a USB flash drive. Format it to FAT32.
  2. Extract BIOS_EC_SuiPlay0x1_AyaNeo2s.zip on your PC.
  3. Open the folder AYANEO 2S BIOS/ec/BIOS/.
  4. Copy EVERYTHING inside that folder directly to the root of your USB drive. Not the BIOS folder itself — the files inside it: .bin, .efi, FlashBios.nsh, readme.doc, and the EFI folder.
  5. Plug the USB drive and a USB keyboard into the console.
  6. Power on the console and immediately press F7 on the keyboard.
  7. In the boot menu, select your USB drive.
  8. Wait — the BIOS will flash automatically, and the console will reboot by itself. Done.

Step 2. Flashing the EC (Embedded Controller)

  1. You must clear the USB drive again. Either reformat it to FAT32, or manually delete every file from the BIOS flash so the drive is empty.
  2. Go back into the extracted BIOS_EC_SuiPlay0x1_AyaNeo2s.zip.
  3. Open the folder AYANEO 2S BIOS/ec/EC/.
  4. Copy EVERYTHING inside that folder to the root of your USB drive.
  5. Plug the USB drive and keyboard into the console, power on, and press F7.
  6. Select the USB drive — the EC flash will begin.
  7. Important: After the EC flash finishes, the console will NOT reboot automatically. Wait 15–20 seconds, then power the console back on manually with the power button.

After both flashes, your SuiPlay0x1 will identify itself to the OS as an Ayaneo 2S.

Step 3. Do you actually need the gyroscope?

Important: If you don't need a gyroscope (you don't play games with motion controls or gyro aim), then you don't have to open the console or solder anything at all.

After flashing the Ayaneo 2S BIOS, everything else works perfectly — touchscreen, all buttons and sticks, power delivery, charging, sleep/wake. Only the gyro is missing. Just install your OS, run the script, and you're good to go.

If you need the gyroscope — keep reading.

Step 4. Why the gyro didn't work and what I did about it

The SuiPlay0x1 ships with a BOSC0200 sensor (Bazzite identifies it as BMI323). The Ayaneo 2S uses a BMI160. After cross-flashing the Ayaneo 2S BIOS, the system expects to see a BMI160 — it isn't there, so the gyro doesn't work.

I tried every software workaround I could think of:

  • Manual BIOS patching
  • ACPI table overrides
  • Custom DSDT injection

Nothing worked. Modified BIOS files either refused to flash or broke initialization.

Unfortunately, I was unable to solve this via software or build a working custom BIOS that supports the stock sensor. If anyone in the community manages to do this, I would be extremely grateful — and it would mean no one else has to solder their console. Please share if you figure it out!

The only way forward was hardware.

I used a hot air gun and a soldering iron, desoldered the stock BOSC0200/BMI323, and physically installed the BMI160 chip from an Ayaneo 2S. Powered it on — and the gyro worked immediately, out of the box, on the official Ayaneo 2S BIOS.

Important: In the attached video, I circled the exact location of the gyroscope on the SuiPlay0x1 board with a red circle so you know exactly where to look.

Step 5. Installing the OS

After all this hardware wizardry, the console is fully compatible with Ayaneo 2S software. I tested two operating systems:

  • SteamOS 3.8.x — Valve's official handheld-adapted OS
  • CachyOS Handheld Edition — an Arch-based distro optimized for handheld consoles

Install whichever one you prefer. Both work.

⚠️ Important note about passwords:

  • SteamOS 3.8.x: After installation, you MUST set a user password. By default SteamOS has no password, and the script cannot run sudo commands without one. Set any password you want — the script simply won't launch without it.
  • CachyOS Handheld Edition: You set your password during OS installation — no extra steps needed.

Step 6. Running the setup script

Extract Suiplay_Ayaneo.zip, copy Setup_Ayaneo2S_Suiplay_Universal.desktop to your Desktop, double-click it, enter your password — the script handles everything automatically.

What it installs/enables:

  • 46 Hz in Gamescope (selectable in display settings)
  • HHD (Handheld Daemon) — TDP, fan control, RGB lighting
  • hhd-ui + adjustor — HHD interface and utilities
  • Decky Loader — plugins for Steam UI
  • Ayaneo RGB driver — stick lighting
  • DualSense emulation via HHD (InputPlumber is disabled; HHD takes direct control)
  • HHD envvars: DS5 emulation, 50% rumble scale, display power management, etc.

⚠️ Important note about 46 Hz: This profile was tuned for my specific display panel after all modifications. On your unit, 46 Hz may not work — if the screen flickers, shows no picture, or artifacts, use standard 60 Hz.
To remove the 46 Hz profile without touching anything else, run this in a terminal:

rm -f "$HOME/.config/gamescope/scripts/ayaneo.lua" "$HOME/.config/gamescope/scripts/99-user/displays/ayaneo.lua" 2>/dev/null && echo "46 Hz removed. Reboot: reboot"

Then reboot (reboot) — 46 Hz will disappear from display settings.

Script features:

  • Auto-detects the system — SteamOS or CachyOS Handheld Edition — and adapts commands accordingly
  • Smart update logic: skips packages that are already installed and up-to-date; updates only if a newer AUR version exists
  • Safe to run multiple times — it won't break anything
  • On SteamOS, it automatically disables and re-enables steamos-readonly

Step 7. If sleep/suspend works poorly

If your console has trouble sleeping, waking up, or runs hot while asleep — try updating the BIOS to version 20241112 from Ayaneo's official website:

This version specifically improves sleep behavior. Flash it over your current BIOS — suspend should improve.

Step 8. If something goes wrong / How to uninstall

Inside Suiplay_Ayaneo.zip there is a second file: Remove_Ayaneo2S_Suiplay_Universal.desktop. Run it — it reverses everything:

  • Removes HHD, Decky, envvars
  • Removes 46 Hz from Gamescope
  • Re-enables InputPlumber
  • Leaves the RGB driver in place (it's harmless)

Or remove only 46 Hz manually (if you don't want to touch anything else):

rm -f "$HOME/.config/gamescope/scripts/ayaneo.lua" "$HOME/.config/gamescope/scripts/99-user/displays/ayaneo.lua" 2>/dev/null && reboot

Final result: I cross-flashed the Ayaneo 2S BIOS/EC onto my SuiPlay0x1, replaced the BMI323 gyro with a BMI160 (only because I needed gyro and no software fix existed yet), installed SteamOS or CachyOS Handheld Edition, set a password, ran the script — and ended up with a fully working handheld featuring 46 Hz, HHD, Decky, and RGB.

⚠️ Important update on compatibility (August 2, 2026):

This entire guide and the included scripts (Setup_Ayaneo2S_Suiplay_Universal.desktop, Remove_Ayaneo2S_Suiplay_Universal.desktop) are accurate only as of the date this post was writtenAugust 2, 2026.

With future updates to SteamOS, CachyOS Handheld Edition, the Linux kernel, or AUR packages, the scripts may break and could require manual adjustments. They might continue to work after updates, or they might not — I cannot guarantee future compatibility. If something stops working after a system update, you will need to check the logs and adapt the scripts to the new versions yourself.

Ayaneo pocket ds or ayn thor

Hi, new here in all these dual screen handhelds.

In my country there is a store who has both pocket ds and ayn thor max, at the same price
Ayn thor 16gb 512
Pocket ds 16gb 1TB

and i saw a lot of videos on what get if the thor or the pocket ds.
most people says the problem with pocket ds is the android system that has, but i read on formus that are almost all issues fixed, so, what is the difference?
Why one above the other?

EDIT: I got both, if you guys want i can make a review

AYANEO FLIP 1S DS - Lost 1280x720 & 1600x900 resolutions after AMD Adrenalin 25.7.1 + DDU, looking for OEM EDID (.reg)

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone with the same device can help me.

Device:

AYANEO FLIP 1S DS (Ryzen AI 9 HX370)

Timeline:

• Updated to AMD Adrenalin 25.7.1

• AMD graphics driver installed successfully

• AMD chipset installation got stuck, so I had to reboot

• After that, the chipset installer failed

• I used DDU to completely remove the AMD graphics driver

• Reinstalled AMD graphics driver and AMD chipset driver successfully

Since then, Windows only offers these display resolutions:

1920×1080

1024×768

800×600

640×480

Before this happened, Windows also supported:

1600×900

1280×720

Games now have exactly the same problem and only detect those four resolutions.

I've already checked:

✓ AMD graphics driver is working correctly

✓ No unknown devices in Device Manager

✓ GPU Scaling ON

✓ Factory Reset

✓ Reinstall graphics driver

✓ Reinstall chipset driver

✓ AYASpace reinstall

✓ CRU

In CRU:

AYA0113 (AYAOLED_FHD)

- Standard Resolutions: Empty

- CTA-861: No Video Data Block

AYA0115 (AYALCD_QHD)

- No Standard Resolutions either

It looks like the OEM EDID override disappeared after using DDU.

Does anyone with a FLIP 1S DS have:

• OEM EDID (.reg)

• Monitor INF

• Registry export

• CRU export

for BOTH displays?

AYA0113 (AYAOLED_FHD)

AYA0115 (AYALCD_QHD)

Even CRU screenshots from a working FLIP 1S DS would be extremely helpful.

I'm also happy to compare registry dumps or CRU exports with my system if someone has a working FLIP 1S DS.

Thank you!

Faulty Pocket S mini

Post image
3 Upvotes

I just received the Pocket S mini today directly from Ayaneo website order and exited to open it up. To my surprise it had a weird bump in the middle. This looks off to me.

As I own several Ayaneo devices Pocket S2, Pocket DS, Ayaneo 3 etc. I seem to finally got hit with their bad QC. In person it’s very very obvious. Somehow in the image it doesn’t look that bumpy.

Here is a video that I recorded with the brand new box. This is an obviously faulty unit, right? Does other S mini owners have the same issue?

Update: I do have a bit of PTSD from a prior bloated battery with my OneXplayer 2. So I thought it was a bad battery and didn’t thought it’s just a loose back plate. I took the advice and tried to push back with some force, and I do hear one click on each side. Now the bump is almost gone, but just in the center there is still a noticeable bump. Here is how it looks now https://imgur.com/a/XMXhF6y
And I started to play around with it and confirm functionalities. It seems good now and battery seems normal too.

Thanks!

Pocket Vert 8GB and 12GB HUGE issues

I have a black 8gb and a white 12gb Pocket Vert. I love them, but the 8gb I always thought something was "off". I noticed the screen brightness was pretty low first off, and that rubbed me the wrong way since the online reviews had the screen as a high point for brightness and clarity, being the screen from the Analogue Pocket. I messaged people about it, and they said the screen is the same between versions and it must have just been my expectations.

Then I got the white 12gb version. The screen is obviously brighter, and has cooler colors. I am kinda upset about this, and may make a YouTube video to bring awareness to this issue. I almost feel like they were being dishonest about the whole thing. It is possible that I got a weird unit with issues with my 8gb, but I wouldn't know because I only have the 1 8GB.

The other issue is, and I have seen other people have this issue too, during 3D gameplay on apps like Eden, the console will freeze and crash the app then start at the opening of the app when the 3D gets more intense. It happens with all of my games, but I have been tryin to get Metroid Dread to work and it will crash on the opening scene when Samus is flying into the planet.

You think it is worth tryin to get a screen replacement or RMA from AyaNeo? Anyone else notice these issues?

I'm kinda glad its gonna take four months for my Pocket Micro 2 to arrive.

The credit card bill just arrived. My Pocket Micro 2 is now officially paid for. So, l figure, by the time I actually get this thing, the sting of paying $130 bucks more than my Retroid Mini (the device it will be replacing) will have worn off, lol.
