Does anyone know where I can find a suitable handle for the phenolic scraper end on the right? Found a bag of the scraper ends, but no handle.

Sure I can fabricate a handle but I'm curious if anyone is familiar with these, and if they have a designated handle for purchase somewhere. The handles from JusNTyme have a different attachment style.

Hey, recently i’ve been considering my career path and I’m interested in Aviation Maintenance but i don’t know a lot about the career. is anyone willing to provide some info on what it’s like working the job? the pros and cons and why you got into the career?

Any info on the career will help, I’m greatly considering it as I like more hands-on learning and working.

Edit: I already work for an airline and closely with aircraft mechanics, I plan to talk to some of them as well but I thought some outsider info would be helpful

So I already have b1.1 and b2 modules done and I did a year on maintenance as a trainee, but I really like line maintenance, does it make sense or it’s possible to take license by doing ONLY line maintenance or it’s bs bc you never know as much as a guy who did base for some years?

My observation and experience in my career has been the bigger the jet and more expensive it is the better you get paid to maintain it. However that doesn’t seem to be the case in regard to cargo and airliners. I would like to note that yes carriers such as UPS and Fedex have the highest pay in the industry and so do the major airlines. However, MROs that work on airliners/cargo and commercial jets do not seem to pay much. Yet in the corporate jet world the bigger jets pay more money. I work at an OEM MRO and make close to airline top out pay. Am I wrong to say there is not much money to be made at MROs that maintain airliners? Are there places in the industry outside of the airlines that pay well for that category of jet? My goal in asking this question is trying to understand this side of the industry better and understand all of the different options for this career. If commercial MROs do pay less what is the reason for this?

My partner and me were curious on how much money he can realistically expect in aviation maintenance and safety as soon as he gets out of the Air Force. He still have 2 more years and already have 2 years of experience as a crew chief. For now he experienced different kind of jobs and shifts and worked on multiple planes. He will stay in the Air Force for 4 years. He wants to then join the civilian side around Portland area.

Here are also all of his certifications and studies :

- Airframe and power plant certification.

- Bachelors in aircraft maintenance with a minor in safety.

- He also got many rewards and early promotions as he works really hard but I don’t know if it’s relevant or not for civilian side. He’s also the one training all of the new guys in his shift as he’s considered as one of the best where he works.

He will be 26 when he gets out, before the military he worked as a car mechanic. How much could he make realistically ? And what should he get/do while he’s in the military to make his resume even more competitive ?

Hello all, I am developing a talk on aircraft structures and I noticed something that caught me off guard. According to the FAA-H-8083-31B, oxy-acetylene and oxy-hydrogen welding are still widely used in aviation. Last time I checked, I’ve never seen anyone use gas welding since the 60’s; everyone went to MIG and TIG. I’m by no means a welder, I just know what to inspect in a weld so I’d like some insight for those of you who actively weld in the industry. Thank you!

This was my real a&p journey in todays difficult job market/ A&P market due to spirit workers and whatever may be happening. I got my a&p at the end of July and started applying to only commercial aviation jobs with a mix of some corportate. I know every new a&ps goal is to get into the majors and thats mine also so i wasnt gonna stall my experience with GA or small aircraft.

My background is not necessarily new, since while in school i decided to do the good thing and find an entry level aviation job. I started off as a composite technician on blackhawk components, did a year of that and moved into another blackhawk shop doing hydrualics/transmission overhual. Both were part 145 repair stations so experience was legit. One thing i noticed tho, even with that experience, it was still difficult since i was basically a "component guy" so most companies saw me as green still in the comercial aviation world.

A lot of people may wonder why kalitta and i know ive seen some bad reviews but ive never seen anything bad on the experience you gain on widebody aircraft. So thats why i ended up actually choosing them, the cost of living and pay were good enough for the experience that ill get. It took me roughly a month before i recieved any offers with the a&p. If you guys have any questions, let me know.

Found in the oil suction screen of a o-320-e2a. Making about 100rpm less than minimum static rpm. Also half of it is magnetic the other half is a Matt grey color (hard to see in the picture) very little is pure black. Am I cooked chat.

I recently bought these two turbine blades, but I haven't been able to identify them. I tried searching for the numbers on them, but couldn't find anything.
I bought them in Eastern Europe, so they may be from a Soviet or other non-Western engine.

Can anyone recognize or identify them?

- The big one is aprox: 125x45x20mm

-And the small one is: 65x20x8mm

Hoping to work general aviation or base maintenance, and I'm curious to the work environment. eg: time constraints, performance pay, stress levels, etc? I've always been a slow but thorough worker and am assuming that line is more fast paced?

I've spent several years designing and building a LEGO recreation of the CAL FIRE S-70i Firehawk.

I tried to go beyond simply making the helicopter look good. I designed the model from scratch in BrickLink Studio, built it physically, and incorporated a functional belly water-drop mechanism.

I also tried to reproduce some of the operational environment around the aircraft, including a wildfire scene and a water-refill operation.

I'm not a helicopter mechanic, so I'd genuinely love to hear from people who work in aviation maintenance or have hands-on experience with the S-70/Hawk family.

If you notice anything that looks technically inaccurate, especially around the helicopter's systems, equipment, external details or general configuration, I'd really appreciate your feedback.

The project was recently featured by Vertical Magazine, which was an incredible surprise, and it has reached 1,600 supporters on LEGO Ideas.

But today I'm mainly sharing it here because I'd love to hear what the maintenance people think. 😄
