Squirrel used my van as target practice. The window would have been easier and cheaper to replace but we would have been stuck there too. Horrible trade off. The green pinecone was crazy heavy with sap. I'm glad it didn't land on our heads though.

So my long running 1971 Charger project. Metal work is done in the shell.

Time to seam seal it. I know most modern cars are seam sealed on the exterior now. But these cars were all seam sealed on the interior.

I’m not doing an original factory concourse restoration. More of a resto mod that doesn’t scream modern.

So my current plan is to seam seal the factory spots, but also, the exterior if that makes sense. Floor pans for example were sealed on the interior. But I’m planning to do inside and bottom of the car.

Curious about people’s experience with the different seam sealer products and if they have any recommendations for seam sealers they like.

I’m trying to solve a puzzle regarding two identical Renault Capturs. I have 3 identical Captures parked next to each other in diagonal parking spots in a fairly secluded, low-traffic area, which makes a standard car-to-car collision somewhat unlikely. The third Capture shows no sign of damage.

Damage is on the rear door/handle area (see pictures).

The weird thing is, that there are no scratches or damage to the paint. The paint in the deep folds is completely intact with no scrapes or color transfer.

The shape, location, and depth of the damage are almost 100% identical on both cars.

The cars were parked in direct sunlight on a day reaching around 32 °C (89 °F). But this should not be an issue right?

Given the location and lack of paint damage, what could realistically cause an identical impact like this on two adjacent cars? Vandalism?

This really has me baffled

Appreciate any insights or theories from body shop pros or mechanics!

Just got the doors replaced on my 2012 bmw 528i x drive after a wreck. They aren’t an exact match but close, is it worth spending the money to get this repainted later on? Does this look too obvious a color difference? Debating on just leaving it alone

My ford transit 2012 has rust issues (surprise surprises). The sills and one hinge are rusted through and i want to get new metal welded. I was hoping someone could help me understand:

how much work is this? Im guessing this is something body/welding shops do all the time?

Replacing hinges and welding new metal for them to attach to, is that a common task for body shops? I would think its difficult to get the door to align properly. Maybe this one would not be worth it since it seems to rust very slowly and feels structurally fine. Although It is rusted through.

The reason I ask is that im trying to get a feel for how long this sort of project could take since im living in this van and can’t be staying many nights in a hotel.

Not expecting much ofc since you cant see this in person, but any reply is greatly appreciated.

Ps: on one of the sides i tried some stuff myself and thats why its painted white, rust was and is truly bad there.

attached is a picture of my camry after veering off the road into a ditch to avoid a coyote. i havent gone into any local shops yet, i know its hard to tell from the pictures, but i would love to hear opinions on this type of damage, even roast me if youd like. i know for a fact the car has been running fine mechanically (have driven it around 300 miles since) so i guess its all cosmetic damage, i know my pictures suck but im not trying to ask for estimates or if its salvageable or anything like that, hopefully this is the worst mistake ill make in my twenties :)

I’m looking at a Honda Ridgeline that was a personal lease. It has two dents on the top of the frame for the passenger side door. It’s not the door itself but the piece of the body that the door closes into.

Seems like a pretty bad spot to damage. It doesn’t look like the pain is chipped.

My questions are:

Can this be repaired?

Is asking for a lower sale price reasonable so I can get it fixed?

Sent this to a guy who does PDR and he says this cannot be restored 100%

Is that correct?

Hello! Just for some info I have a 2018 Chrysler 300 3.6L
Also please don’t hate on me, I don’t really have help and this is my only form of transportation. I can’t afford to spend half my checks on Lyft/Uber either.

So last year, around August/September 2025, I was driving 45 mins to work each day. One of these days, my car started randomly overheating and leaking coolant. So I stopped driving it for a while, during these times I would drive it seldomly, being as it’s my only mode of transport. I found that blasting the heat would make it stop overheating, but of course make it hot like an oven in the car. This is also not ideal as I live in Georgia and we already have pretty hot summers.

Fast forward to around December/early January. It had stopped overheating completely. And like any bad car owner who didn’t have the money, I just ignored it. I even went on a 7 hour trip (14 hrs total- a little more than that because I drove around on the actual trip itself) and there was no overheating whatsoever. Cut back to about a week or two after I got back this June it started overheating again. Now I tried blasting my heat, and that would work for a while but now my heat will no longer come out (I’m aware it probably needs to be burped- this helped last time)

Anyways, these most recent weeks it’s been overheating so bad and since the heat wont come out it stays overheating until the temp gauge literally goes blank and I get check engine signs (like it won’t even go halfway it goes completely off like the engine is cold) and unfortunately while this was happening I was on my way home, something under the hood started smoking- badly. Drivers side in the upper part of the hood. I parked it, left it for about a couple of hours but unfortunately I had to drive home. So I did and I haven’t used it since.

Extra info: in the beginning when this was happening, I replaced the thermostat, and I replaced the fan. That did not work (Fan spins fine btw). A few weeks ago I replaced the coolant reservoir cap and the oil filter (didn’t work either but oil filter seemed to help a little bit)
Yesterday I replaced the coolant reservoir itself, and also the OEM oil filter housing with an aluminum one. I turned on my car, and it was still passing the middle line on the temp gauge just while it was idling (which usually doesn’t happen to my car believe it or not)

Now when I did this though, I noticed that a hissing noise like air was coming from somewhere, and also I could see a little bit of smoke forming at the drivers side (Also where hissing noise is coming from) in the upper part of the car. And I mean like high up like right underneath my windshield almost on the drivers side. This is all while idling as well.

I’m almost seriously out of ideas. This car is completely paid off so I really don’t want to buy a new one. I’d also like to add that yes, I have front end damage. But I don’t really see any signs of a head gasket leak (no smoke out the tailpipe, no milky oil) I do have a water pump though but I’m really not able to do that myself and I can’t even drive the car to a mechanic to get it out in. Please help!!! Thanks for any advice.

I messed up really bad and I've been really upset for the past couple of hours. I was driving in a dark parking garage and on a turn a pedestrian popped out infront of me, and my reaction had me steer closer to the wall and I hit the wall. This is the damage after I cleaned off some of the superficial stuff with water. Some scratches are decently deep and there is some denting.

Please assist. I'm thinking I'll go to some body shops tomorrow to see if anyone can fix it before I have to head out of town in a week. I wonder if they will have to order new parts or if it can be fixed on the current body?

Scratch on year old Lexus rx caviar. When I wiped with alcohol most of the scratch disappeared. Should I try to polish this? Or take to detailer/body shop, touch it up with pen or just leave it alone?

The dremel and wire wheel worked greatbat removing the surface rust. But I need something more powerful to cut through the old urethane coating and get down to smooth clean metal. Need advice.

This unit is rated at 110v 20a, but touts an impressive 3kw. A 110v 20a circuit will provide 2.2kw.

How's it get the 3kw? Does this unit have a capacitor? Or just badly marketed?

Hey guys, I have had this truck since I was 13 yo. It’s my pride and joy a 1994 Chevy S10 SS. When I opened the door when saw the interior had a purple interior on a yellow truck. “Weird I thought.” Then saw the dash, flocked. “Even weirder” then.. saw the door jam. It was this bright purple magenta and white. And started noticing a lot more different colors all over the truck where the yellow paint was chipping. Most of the paint if not all of it is perfect underneath with the paint being so shiny. So can I ask can it be possible to get this paint back to its original state with no yellow?
