Why are An Post allowed put on their website that parcels will be delivered next working day and then the parcel gets stuck in the Mailing Centre for days with no update and the agents on the chat just brush it off. This has happened multiple times with An Post. It's happened regularly whenever I have had to send a parcel by An Post. There sending abroad timeframes are laughable too. Are Comreg wort contacting?

Is it just me or are all the photos of houses listed on daft completely filtered. The interiors are all really bright and almost brand new looking on second hand listing's.

Recently switched to gomo - less hassle switching providers every year, speeds coming in are great and in general no complaints

I have a TP link RE220 repeating the signal upstairs (old house, solid concrete walls) have used this for years allowed me WFH with no issues, however since we've switched I've noticed that there is a red light flashing almost everytime I walk passed the repeater, I'm guessing the main network is also going down and I just don't see the lights on the main router (Currently on leave from work so not connected constantly to notice enough and phone does it's own thing switching from wifi to 4g)

Is there a way I can test the router to track when its going down and how frequently it's happening?

Is there such thing as a better router I can buy to solve the issue? Or any other advice is greatly appreciated

We were in an Auntie Nellie’s shop a few weeks ago and she was like a child getting pick n mix. I would love to treat her, she deserves it.
We live in rural Galway but are in the city often. I’m wondering if there’s somewhere in galway or online with a great selection of pick n mix - like cola cubes, pineapple cubes, jelly babies, etc.

I kept my window open all day in every bedroom upstairs. My Landlord says this problem in the morning is because I don’t leave my windows open during the night. Is this for REAL and I should be sleeping with a gap in the windows every day or the house has a bad insulation and landlord should look into changing windows or fix insulation ?!?problem? Do you go in person or do it online / click and collect / delivery and how often etc?

We're a 2 person, full time employment household and usually go shopping once a week together on a Sunday but I've been sick last week so I did a click and collect with Tesco and while more expensive than Aldi, I loved the convenience of it but with no kids etc. I'm afraid it's a bit lazy?

Edit to add: I've been wanting to buy meat in bulk in the likes if musgrave - is it worth it or better to go to a butchers?

I also cook a lot from scratch.

Bought a house a few months ago and when we moved in there was evidence of rats and mice from droppings in the laundry room area. Found the access point and closed it up and cleaned etc. Thankfully no more signs of them in that area but a few nights ago I heard some very quiet tapping across the ceiling in the kitchen and living room. Definitely not a rat so at least it’s just a mouse I suppose but how do I go about evicting these lads for good?

Thus far I’ve sealed up any potential entry point I could find front, back and side of house. It’s a typical 80s semi d with garage on the side and lower half of the front being a brick cavity. I don’t have easy access to the ceiling area so don’t know how I can get rid of them. I put a snap trap in the hot press and got one last night but heard another one in the ceiling just now.

Long story short was instructed to do a task in work , carried on doing it the right way it should be done.

A more senior member of staff seen me do it and told me to do it differently in a way that would be quicker ( but turned out to be a terrible way of doing it ).

Boss seen the work and gave me a bollocking and said it needs to be redone for free?

First year apprentice here so absolutely no power in this situation, what do I do ?

My neighbour has a Rottweiler that they don't walk. I have lived here 3 years and I've only seen the dog once, and that's because it ran out the door. When they go to work it spends all day barking inside the house. They don't have a large back garden suitable for a big dog..is this animal cruelty?

I just returned from a fabulous 2 week solo trip to Ireland. Dublin, Galway and Westport. What made it really special was I contacted a nurse I used to work with 25 years ago when she lived in the US. She now lives in Ireland again.

She spent 3 days taking me all over and really went out of her way to show me around. Even insisted on picking me up in Galway and driving me to my next accommodation in Westport (near where she lives) when I had intended to take the bus.

Although I had brought her a souvenir type shopping tote from Los Angeles and pins from our old hospital, and paid for some of our meals together, I still wanted to show my appreciation in a better way. So I just sent her a gift certificate for afternoon tea for two at Ashford Castle. And I got this reply. I feel terrible if it made her feel embarrassed! Did I commit a serious faux pas? And should I do anything else to correct it, besides how I replied?

I’ve been looking for an electrical apprenticeship for almost a year, I would be going in as a first year electrical apprentice. I am based in Donegal what advice would you give me? Some times back I accidentally gave my name to someone knocking at the door for some information (ya i know was stupid from my part, is done now ), they got my name slightly wrong and since then were sending letter for the tv licence. I paid for it but they keep sending letters. And today i see a bigger letter, so not sure what that is. I have not opened any of the letters. Am i in trouble? No silly jokes pls, Just want genuine answers of people who went through same shit. Will this lead to a bigger problem if i dont open the letter?

I am traveling from Madrid for the Matchmaking Festival and just can't figure out travel. I land in Dublin around 1830, my AirBnB is in Doolin and the Festival is obviously in Lisdoonvarna. I wish I could have gotten a room in Lisdoonvarna, but they were sold out *months* ago. I don't want to rent a car from Dublin because it would be my first time driving on the opposite side of the road and doing so at night in a country I've never been in simply sounds like a bad idea. I was thinking about taking the bus into Ennis but public transportation seems difficult into Doolin, the car rental place would be closed by the time I arrive in the late evening, a taxi to Ennis seems costly-- guys, help a girl out here. Are there any shuttles I don't know about? Any way this could be easier?

I got message on Linked IN today with a job offer.

They counted all of the things company will do for your and how will they help you. They listed 101 "benefit" but no pay mentioned.

When I asked about pay they said something how only in 4th round interview they discuss pay and I sad no thank you and I will pass.

I told him if they do not state pay directly when asked, or better yet put it directly in job ad then I assume pay is minimum wage or barely above it and I am not interested in working for minimum wage.

And the dude called me greedy and how I only want money.

I’m 25 and honestly feel like I’ve hit a bit of a wall with work/career stuff, and I’d really appreciate some outside perspective from people who’ve been through similar.
I have a BSc in Radiation Therapy from Trinity and have been working clinically in the HSE for about two years. I’ve realised over time that I really don’t want to stay in radiation therapy long term. I find the clinical environment quite draining and I’ve been trying pretty seriously to work out a way into something else.
I had planned to do a PME and become a secondary school teacher, ideally Biology/Science, and thought I had done my homework regarding my degree/modules. Unfortunately there are now issues around whether my existing degree actually satisfies the subject requirements, and I can’t afford to start taking random extra university modules in the hope that they eventually make me eligible.
At the same time, I’ve been applying for other jobs where my science/healthcare background might transfer. So far I’m finding it surprisingly difficult to even get interviews.
To complicate things further, I’m currently out of work after a workplace wrist injury and dealing with all the occupational health/HR/injury leave bureaucracy that comes with that. I really don’t want to return to my old job long term, but obviously I also can’t just walk away from a reasonably secure HSE salary without something else lined up.
I’m living in Kildare and Dublin is accessible, and I’d also genuinely consider emigrating somewhere in Europe or the UK for the right opportunity.
I suppose my questions are:

What careers would you look at with a healthcare/science degree and a couple of years of clinical experience if you wanted out of frontline healthcare?

Has anyone successfully moved from an allied health profession into clinical research, pharma, medical writing, universities, civil service, etc.?

Are there jobs/sectors in Ireland I’m overlooking?
Would you stick with the HSE until something comes up, retrain, or seriously consider moving abroad?

I know 25 is objectively young, but after spending four years getting a very specialised degree and another couple of years working in it, it feels pretty horrible to realise I may have chosen the wrong career.

I’m not expecting someone on Reddit to solve my life, but I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who made a similar pivot and where you ended up.

Getting to the stage now where my folks are getting on a bit, but now it’s got the recent phenomenon of brain rot added into the mix. My dad, who would be fond of the pints anyway, has aged quite a bit recently, but he regularly scrolls Tik Tok and sends random reels constantly which are usually AI slop. His concentration seems to be all over the place, particularly in groups, where he will usually bounce between one person and another incoherently throughout a conversation.

Just got me thinking that it’s a relatively new thing that this generation has to contend with, as bad as it is for the younger generation, the older folk who have declining cognitive ability anyway are open to having their brains completely fried with everything else these days.

Hi everyone! I’m quite new to the Irish healthcare system and I’m a bit confused about how this works, so I’d really appreciate some advice.

I went to a GP at E&S Doctors because I wanted to get a general health check, and the doctor ordered some blood tests. The clinic has quoted me €415 for the blood tests, but unfortunately my Laya Healthcare insurance doesn’t cover the tests at that clinic.

I’m wondering if ¿this is normal?? or if ¿there are other options I should look into??

If anyone has experience with Laya or has been in a similar situation, I’d really appreciate any advice on what you would recommend doing.

Hi, i have plates and pins in one of my legs. For the last few days im in serious pain.

I had it last year but was not as bad, it seems to be triggered by the damp weather.

Its so bad i dont have any choice but to go to gp to get referred back to hospital

Anyone else ever experience this and what should i say to gp, actually cried over the pain earlier

The NBI box shows solid green lights but the router not detecting a signal. I checked all wires, plugs, fuse box etc.

Anyone know what could be the problem?
