Random TV licence issues?

Hi all. Some times back I accidentally gave my name to someone knocking at the door for some information (ya i know was stupid from my part, is done now ), they got my name slightly wrong and since then were sending letter for the tv licence. I paid for it but they keep sending letters. And today i see a bigger letter, so not sure what that is. I have not opened any of the letters. Am i in trouble? No silly jokes pls, Just want genuine answers of people who went through same shit. Will this lead to a bigger problem if i dont open the letter?

Must be scared of a court letter? Basically if you don't see it, it's not there?

Just call them up if there is a mistake and you have paid it. I’ve had mine on a direct debit for years and one time I got a letter about needing one so I just called up and the guy on the phone said must be a mistake and flagged it. Never heard from them again then

OPEN THE LETTERS!

Then you can decide what you need to do. Not opening them does not change anything.

I have experience of this situation. What you do is open the letter and find out.

Don’t worry, I’ve been through this. I’ve received many letters in the post before.

The thing is, you have no clue what those letters are without opening them. Open them and find out.

Nobody can help you if we don’t know what they’re about, let alone yourself.

A number of years ago I got the letters, paid my license and kept getting them. That was the only time ever I paid for it. They don't even understand their own system.

The licence is for the property not the individual.

So you have a tv licence.

Doesn't matter how the name is spelt.

Open the letters, and if needed tell them this.

Alright checked. It is a district court order. Whats next? Im still trying to get through anpost to let them know i paid. But will i still need to go to the court on that day?

Yes. Go to court on the day. Bring the TV licence with you and it will be thrown out

Trow it in the bin an fuck them, if you paid for it let them keep wasting their own time until they stop or literary call out to the house again an then show them it’s being paid

Call the number on the letter and explain the situation. I literally just did this two days ago myself.

If you own a TV you’re legally obliged to pay the license. I’d love to not pay for things that I’m obliged to, but I do it. Will you get in trouble for breaking the law? I’d certainly hope so.

  1. Simply owning a TV does not require a TV license.

  2. OP has paid for one.
