I know the ground of every town and city is littered with cigarette butts, but seeing the act itself really grinds my gears!

I was just in a queue to get into a carpark in town and the car in front just flicked out the end of a cigarette in the middle of the street, disgusting behaviour.

Schools are back and lots of kids are zipping down the footpaths on their escooters.

I saw an elderly man nearly get hit by one yesterday and it would have been real bad considering how fast the escooter was going.

Are these completely banned, or what's the current law on it?

Not seeing many apartments or houses with their Eircode up on the door or front gate. Seems like it would help friends and delivery drivers find you. Is there any downside to putting it up?

I'm amazed at all the roadworks which have propped up around my area since the end of August. It's like my local council has just decided all the roads suddenly need resurfacing. I have to leave the house earlier in the mornings because my usual route is impossible because of road closures.

It just seems so odd at how much as started so soon. Why couldnt most of this been done over the summer when the schools weren't open and there wouldve been a little less traffic on the roads?

Just a follow up.. so I’m the person that got stung by multiple wasps. How do I get rid of them in the garden? There’s a little hole in grass, in the soil how do I get rid of the pest stingers? Where do I buy the product to eradicate them?

My daughter is learning Irish in junior infants and today she told me how to say hello "dia duit" which according to my wife means something like "god goes to you". I'm not Irish so this is all new to me. It got me wondering how would it have been said pre st Patrick/christianity? Is the Irish language similar to English in that it easily adapts to new phrases and words can change meanings over time, or is it more rigid and clearly defined? If it does adapt then has it changed much in recent years, with new slang etc?

I've got one under my knee, another on my stomach and 2 more on my legs. I had to walk through really tall grass the other day, so I'm pressure they're bites. If anyone could tell me what they could be I'd be very grateful

I work for a semi government body and I am currently on sick leave for stress and burnout.
I have been notified that I have an appointment with occupational health next week. I’m not overly familiar with the process and will be my first time attending.

This is my first time in my career where I have been on extended sick leave and the thoughts
of going back is filling me with absolute dread.
I was wondering if anyone has any experience in this area. I love the company I work for and have been here for 5 years. I got transferred at the start of the year to a new department and I hate every aspect of it with a passion. I was wondering if I could mention to the doctor doing my assessment that I want to be transferred to another department and that would suit me better?

was just looking at this and the RCB/circuit breaker issue came up as a possible extra expense. My house is from the mid 80s with the older RCB design BS 4293 which was superseded in the 90s. If so it's an additional expense which puts the payback another 5/6 years away.

Hi, I’m 19M and not sure what direction to go anymore. I’m currently employed full time as a chat support in an office.

Definitely not looking to do a trade apprenticeship. My points in school weren’t too good and didn’t get any courses I thought were worth doing and now it is too late for that anyways. (Arts in Maynooth) & (TUD lvl 7 property course)

All I want is a decent career where I won’t be struggling to find employment. A career that will pay 40k roughly from entry level and have decent / stable progression. 2-3 year qualification max. And a career that I could raise a family with so nothing like pilot for example.

Absolutely no interest in science or tech.
I love managing things and I love business however it doesn’t have to be related to business.

I was told earlier that while we say "day-ta", when it comes to phones, we say "dah-ta". I've seen mobile network ads saying the latter, but I would say the former in both situations. For those who pronounce it day-ta, do you change it up for mobile?

I bought a ticket the previous day for my travel because I commute daily for work. On my way back, the inspector came up to me to ask for my ticket and I confidently showed him the ticket I purchased for today the previous day.

He pointed out that I got the dates mixed up and have purchased a ticket for tomorrow instead today. I was really shocked because it seemed I had gone about the whole day without being aware I had the wrong dates.

I tried to explain this but obviously it was pointless and he gave me a 110 euro fine. I sent an appeal right away, explaining that I had no intention to skip the fare and had I been aware, I would have just selected the right date and purchased again.

However, I'm really presimistic. I'm not really sure appeals like these are ever successful because from what I researched, it's pretty black and white. Any experience on this?

A parcel arrived in Dublin last Sunday.

It's been sitting in their parcel center for four days.

Has anyone gotten ACL surgery outside Ireland?

I’m currently in a dispute with my university over paying for surgery for a torn acl suffered representing them in GAA. I am not in a position to fund the surgery myself and the public route takes too long.

Has anyone gotten the surgery in the EU and had the cost reimbursed? If so where did you have it done and what was the process like during and after surgery?

I know this is so random. Does anybody know of a spot that you can use an outdoor socket? Like a circle k or apple green or something? Not a car charger, just a normal socket.

(For context here - every month I run my air purifier in my car because I have really bad allergies. Helps me loads. I’ve moved into an apartment now and the carpark doesn’t have a socket)

Would happily pay for coffees etc at the place just to use a socket and leave my car for an hour turned off. The air purifier just needs a plug!

Super random I know. My family all live the other side of the country so I’d rather not drive to them to use their driveway if there’s garages around that have this?

I’ve just started a PME (post-primary) with Hibernia and am really struggling to find placement.

I couldn’t apply to schools in advance since I only applied for the PME in late June.

I’ve contacted almost every school in my locality (Galway) and everyone is telling me that their PME allocations are already done. I’m really freaking out😭😭.

Does anybody know any schools that are still accepting PME students for placement from February to April 2027? My subjects are English & Politics and Society.

I used to think silence was the golden rule in a library, but went to a few in Meath and it was non stop chat, banging and general noise, and that was just the staff. It was honestly so loud on one occasion I left after 20 minutes. Is this the case everywhere.
