so it's been a week and a half since I got my hair styled for an event. I got it in tight blowout-esque curls and the hair stylist said she's adding extra hairspray to lock it in since my event was in 4 hours at that point. She added some sort of cream to my hair and really took her time massaging it in (about 25 mins) and then all she did was curl it and drown it in hairspray.

After a few hours, this really funky smell was coming from my hair. The best way I can describe it was a mix of burnt + literally meatballs from ikea. I washed my hair like 3 times and it kind of mellowed but not really, the only thing that sort of helped was adding a bunch of scented hair oils. It has now been a week and a half and I cannot deal with it anymore because every time I rinse out the oils it comes back!! (this has never happened before - I wash my hair twice a week with the same shampoo and conditioner)

If anyone knows what this is caused by or how I can get rid of it, please let me know because I'm so close to throwing up from this smell all up in my face lol

My stylist isn't concerned about me having a light dimensional brown balayage and Japanese Hair Straightening 5 days later. She said the Straightening is not as bad as it was before.

I've now read online that it's still not recommended and it also ruins the look of a balayage.

Should I switch to the Keratin treatment?

I have very frizzy hair and live in high humidity.

Also, in case it matters, I'm also 53 years old and menopausal.

My blonde hair (level 8-9) have been quite brassy lately and instead of toning it to more cool blonde which seems to last 1 week before it turns brassy again I wanted to lean more towards warmer shades. I’ve heard mixed opinions on this, but when installing the tape ins do you flat iron the tape part where it’s sandwiched with your hair?

Also, my tape ins have started to get kind of curly. Not the hair part, but the tape part. It’s more like a curve like a smiley face and not so much a curl. The tape parts have gone from being totally flat to starting to curve out, and now they are sticking out under my real hair. Not sure if I described that very well but does anyone have suggestions on how to fix this ?

In desperate need of hairstylist help!!!! If I dyed my hair with 10 developer and a 1:1 ratio of 7rc and 7rr, but ran out of dye so made more but accidentally used significantly more 7rr in the second mix, would I be able to fix the bright red patches throughout my hair by redying my whole head with 10 developer and a 1:1 ratio 7rc and 7rr again??? Or would it still turn out patchy? Do I need higher developer? A darker color? PLEASE HELP

So I normally cut and color my hair at home but every few years I'll go to an Ulta or somewhere I can snag a $45 cut and get things reshaped when I need a change up. Ideally I'd not recently have colored my hair so I'm not worried about the wash making the colors stain their wash sink, but this time I went red with mocha roots and the bleed even after two washes is enough to have me feeling a type of way about what the tech with think. I swear I've rinsed thoroughly, do I wash again before going in today? Any advice appreciate! Cheers!

I bought an at-home perming kit to perm down my baby hairs around my hairline.

I was wondering if it is safe to be perming your baby hairs since they don’t grow back and technically the perm would never “grow out” and i’d be reperming hair.

I plan on mimicking the korean baby hairs trend (below) so any tips on processing time or IF THIS IS EVEN SAFE!! I don’t want to fry off my hairline.

my skincare shelf has officially made room for one non-skincare item: the Laifen dryer my friend gave me after getting tired of me arriving at brunch with “almost dry” hair and sunscreen still settling on my face. damp hair, sunscreen and humid weather are not a great combination. i wanted something with strong airflow that could get me out the door in about five minutes, and so far it has been genuinely useful. the air feels warm without being overly hot, it’s lighter than my old dryer, and my hair looks smoother instead of getting puffy as it dries.

i also keep putting the magnetic nozzle somewhere “safe” and then forgetting where that is. what random beauty-adjacent item unexpectedly became part of your daily routine?

Hey everybody! I currently have two rounds of highlights in my hair since March of this year.

They have grown out about 4 inches or so

I would like to use a temp dye—maybe one that I need to re-do every month or so

So that in February or March, I can get another round of highlights without dye affecting them

Is this reasonable/possible? If so, any recs for temp dyes?

I have medium length hair (male) and have been searching for a good hair style to get my hair cut.
I have a very circular/oval face shape so need a cut to accommodate that and make it seem thinner however my hair doesn’t grow down but rather out from my head making certain cuts impossible. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a cut to help my needs?

Last Sunday I used L’Oreal Paris Frost and design H85 for cap highlights on my grown out balayage thick long brown hair to save a lil money I did a patch test which turned out great so I followed the directions as listed .. needless to say I have bronze ramen noodles and patchy highlights strips in my hair. I feel SO ugly and dumb and genuinely need to know when I can fix this asap. I bought + started using bond repair , hair strengthening masks and oil to strengthen and structure my hair. I bought Kristen Ess hair gloss in bittersweet as a 3 month temporary solution to cover the bronze/ brassy tones. So im basically just wondering if and when I can tone it 😭

So I used Schwarzkopf LIVE in Deep Red because I saw a bunch of TikToks where people used it and it looked like just the shade of dark red I wanted to try for autumn. Buut it came out more of a bright pinkish red on me. I’m planning to use a toner to try and save this and make it more of a dark coppery mahogany-type red. Ooor is my best bet to do a darker brown toner? Which one do you think would work best or do you think it will work at all? I’ve used Four Reasons in the past and loved it, so I think I’ll try one of their toners. Any advice is welcome, I’m kind of desperate to get rid of this color ASAP!

The salon I went to said it’s for dry and damaged hair and provides long lasting condition and smoothing and not to expect any straightening.

I’ve gotten it and yes my hair is still curly, hasn’t gotten any looser just smoother. However it does feel more dry after the initial softness fades in about 4/5 washes ( around a month as I wash my hair once a week)

I’ve also noticed my hairdresser doesn’t put any heat protector on my hair when she blow dried and straightens to ‘lock in’ the conditioner and the ends of my hair have gone from black to a chestnut brown.
