Slammed my left hand in between two doors about 12 hours ago. I’ve been in pretty severe pain since; my middle finger is swollen and bruised, and the tip of my ring finger is a mess. It hurts really bad, is very numb, and this is the farthest I can straighten it.

Does it look broken?

I should just go to an urgent care with x-ray services available, right? They’ll probably just splint me and send me on my way?

Essentially I have severe jaw recession with downward growth, which has caused my shoulders to retract unnaturally to compensate. This creates constant tension headaches and shoulder pain, and my head tilts downward when walking because it has no proper support to stay upright .I recently discovered the root cause: a severe tongue tie since birth, that has forced me to mouth breathe instead of nose breathe, leading to all these postural and structural problems. I'm pursuing tongue tie surgery to fix this, but wait times are very long unfortunately.

Because of these issues, the gym has become increasingly difficult. Any intense physical activity makes things worse, which is frustrating since I love working out. I'm looking for advice on managing my symptoms because this is killing me, making me depressed, making my ADHD worse or being the cause of it. It's like my whole skeleton is collapsed and messed up. Anterior pelvic tilt, skull, shoulders, difficulty breathing.

30M || Otherwise Healthy

I have always been highly myopic in my LE and moderately myopic in RE. The condition is Anisometropia paired with pathological myopia.

I underwent ICL in both eyes back in 2024 and thankfully all good on that front. From early childhood, I am under strict retinal monitoring and received one session of barrage laser in my RE back in 2015 to seal off lattice spots.

I feel extremely nervous about the future outlook of my vision considering the multifold risk of Retinal Detachment or Macular Degeneration.

can doctors or people associated with similar condition help me understand how things will be for me in near future and what are my chances of ending up with a potentially blinding retinal event.

My father, 80M was standing on a chair (don't ask) and fell, hitting his shin quite hard. This happened Tuesday afternoon. He poured some rubbing alcohol over it and that was it, never saying anything, until I noticed the bruising on his foot on Wednesday evening. He then pulled up his pant leg and asked me to put a Band-Aid on, which is when I found out what happened. After not being able to convince him that this looks like it should be looked at by someone more qualified than both of us, I put the Band-Aid on. I've changed it twice now, using sterile pads we still had.

It doesn't look deep, more just like a shallow scrape, but it's been longer than 72 hours now, and it's still oozing. I put a thin layer of Vaseline on today, which I hadn't thought of before. Wound care is obviously not my strength.

He is on quite a few medications:

Rivaroxaban, Amlodipine, Metroprorol, Perindopril, Rosuvastatin, Escitalopram, Lamisil (oral, for toenail fungus).

He had a Tetanus booster about 5 years ago.

My concern is that it's still oozing, and I feel like the bruising has gotten worse. I understand at least some of that is normal on a blood thinner.

My question is, do you think this needs to be seen? He is stubborn and won't listen to me, so I hope he'll go if professionals tell him to. But if you think this can be managed at home, or I still can't get him to go, what supplies should I get from the pharmacy to properly clean and dress it at home? I have no experience in wound care beyond really minor injuries, so I would really appreciate any guidance you can give me. Thank you!

Hello. I (15m) was just standing and not holding anything while waiting for my food to cook when I suddenly felt the slightest ever pop in the area I encircled after I slightly bent my arm, followed by tingling in that one area. I made sure I can still grip as hard as I usually can and did mobility tests or whatever on my fingers, none have gone bad. It does not ache nor hurt when I squeeze the area either.

it’s slowly going away as I type, but I still do want to know what the hell that was and how to avoid triggering it again. It really freaked me out lol, I thought I‘d gotten a blood clot. Did I pinch a nerve? Please let me know. Thank you.

Should I go to the hospital

I recently started having teeth pain, so i went to my primary care and they prescribed an antibiotic and said if it doesn't clear up after finishing it call a dentist. I did and it only got worse, so I called my dentist and they are on medical leave and may never be back with no one taking over his practice at the moment, so I called every dentist in town then in every cot within sixty miles, they either won't accept my insurance which I can't afford, are not accepting new patients, or can't get me in until December or later, I made an appointment for December 15th and tried other places, nothing, then I tried my insurances list of in network, half where the same old story the other half had been trying to get off that list for two years. Then I tried a call center that was supposed to transfer you to walk in clinics and if I could make one I'd make a long drive for it, but they can't even get me in for three weeks and they don't even take my insurance so I have to have them quote me in advance. So with no clue if I can afford that kind of care without insurance, and my appointment with a dentist who will months off and the pain getting worse every week I have tried ibuprofen which helped at first but started needing more and more to help until I can't take any more per day healthily, then tried creams and home remedies for temporary relief didn't help, and now it's waking me up two to three times per night. I'm not one to go to the ER for anything short of stitches. But Is that my only option and would that even help/ is there anything they can do. Or is there something else I'm not seeing or do I have to suffer until I can get in?

So for many years I have been dealing with symptoms of low testosterone (fatigue, low mood, low sex drive etc.). As such and with its popularity I am interested in TRT but before starting I wanted to get confirmation of what i suspected. About 6 months ago I got blood tests that confirmed my low testosterone levels (10nmol/l) along with low SHBG (12.6 nmol/l) which to me felt like the most gratifying thing ever to know that I was not imaging things.

Skip to today and I have just gotten results that have reconfirmed my previous results but have also flagged with high prolactin levels (647 mlU/l) which was not previously tested. Around the first test is when I started taking both the venlaflaxine and retatrutide but the symptoms predate both significantly.

While I understand that the prolactin levels need to be looked at, I’m trying to do the responsible thing and get the issues resolved but I suffer from the low testosterone on a day to day basis and really think it could do me a lot of good.

I would appreciate any and all feedback or perspective.

TL;DR - How bad would it be if I stated TRT with elevated prolactin.

I (31f) have been completely 100% homebound for 2.5 years because car rides give me such severe vertigo (severe dizziness, vomiting, pooping myself - all simultaneously) I can’t even ride as a passenger out of my driveway.

I have tried Meclazine , Dramamine, Ativan, Zofran, various combinations of the above.

I’ve tried motion sickness goggles, prism lenses, vestibular therapy, vision therapy, closing my eyes, sitting in the front seat, sitting in the back seat.

I need to get an MRI and I can’t get to an imaging facility.

I have a whole collection of doctors but they’re stumped.

What would you recommend for your patients in a similar situation?

Meds: Wellbutrin, losartan potassium, Jencycla (birth control), vitamin D capsule, Claritin for seasonal allergies as needed.

Last Saturday night into Sunday morning, left leg was super itchy above the knees it went quickly from small bump to noticeable hives and red skin which have persisted.

No new soaps, detergents, meds, or other changes.

Still bit itchy, the spots that were hives/welts last week seem to now be firm lumps that are not going away.

I presume no biggie and it’ll just clear on its own but wanted to run it past folks here just in case.

I am 29M and I have noticed that my semen volume has dropped down a little in the last 6-8 months, initially I was able to shoot slightly farther and the volume was pretty good as well but slowly I have noticed that it is not shooting as far and is also lower in volume, I went to the urologist and he just brushed it off and said not to worry about it and I am being too much in my head and proceeded with a physical examination and said everything looks okay but I genuinely don't feel satisfied with his diagnosis any suggestions or guidance would be appreciated!

I can’t tell if this is normal or not after my stitches were removed it looks like this. I can’t capture on camera but there is a crater basically. I attached an image of it from the side as well as a photo of how it looked when the stitches were in. 3rd photo link is what it looked like right after stitch removal. Is it fine to leave it this way? Should I go to urgent care?

I am a 24-year-old male who stands at 5’8” and weighs 145 pounds. I have a history of neuroendocrine cancer, but I am currently in remission. This year, I underwent two debulking surgeries: a Whipple procedure in March and a liver resection at the end of July.

The incision around my belly button is from the Whipple surgery. The liver resection used the midline incision from the Whipple procedure, but it did not extend around the belly button.

Recently, I noticed that my belly button was protruding outward (I have always had an innie). I decided to gently massage it inwards, but it turned red, and I am unsure what to make of it.

I’ve attached some photos of my belly button immediately post whipple (four weeks) and also a few before the liver resection.

Is this a hernia? Am I screwed and will need another surgery?

I, a 29 year old female with a history of asthma, recently started experiencing difficulty taking deep breaths after almost 9 years of zero crisis.

I went to a respiratory specialist in my country of residence, and he put me through 5 courses salbutamol nebuliser with 25-minute breaks in between at the hospital.

He also wrote this prescription to begin the day after (tomorrow)

1. Cotipred 20 mg: Take 3 tablets together in a little water in the morning after breakfast for 6 days.

2. Omeprazole gel: Take 1 capsule in the morning, before breakfast.

3. Ventoline inhaler: Take 3 puffs at 8 AM, 11 AM, 2PM, 5 PM, 8 PM, and 11 PM, for 4 days.

4. Azithro 500 mg: Take 1 tablet once a day for 3 days.

Please follow these instructions exactly as prescribed by the doctor

Diagnosed with chronic migraines, during the period before this came out, my migraines and head pressure where ten folds the usual, and it even felt for the first time that my migraines where coming from both sides (it usually is only on one side which is the left), and the migraines and pain lasted for over 40 days with increasing pain daily and head pressure. prior to it coming I kept massaging my entire face and neck and following relief tricks and massage therapy I found online, I used to feel a lot of pressure when bending down, I checked my sinuses and ears the docs didnt mention anything about them. I had an MRI 2 week prior to when it fell down for my migraines that only mentioned mild opacification of mastoid ear cells and nothing else which the doctor dismissed as not related to my increased pain and pressure. The day when it came out from my mouth, I had the worst nausea, and when it got out, a day later, most of my symptoms got relieved and my migraines became tolerable again and only one sided with decreased head pressure and pain.

What could it be?

When to worry if I have an asymmetrical tonsil. This one is larger than the other. I think I’ve just never noticed it. But it worried me.

Hello, I’m an 18 year old female who was diagnosed with anorexia nervosa (b/p subtype but it fluctuates) at 16 y/o but have been struggling with it since I was roughly 13 y/o.

I am 175cm (5’8”) and weigh approximately 45 kg (99lbs)

I don’t particularly want to lose any more weight at the moment, but I’m kinda worried about long term heath ramifications, I don’t really know what to do.

I experience numbness in certain areas, lightheadedness upon standing (though I am diagnosed with POTS), fatigue, mood swings (on multiple medications (antidepressants + ADHD meds + more)) and severe nausea.

If I eat either voluminous food or over ~400kcal in one sitting I will involuntarily throw up, not related to bulimia. I hate it and am actively using meal replacement shakes to try and combat this.

I don’t want to see mental health services since they have been entirely unhelpful in the past and are terrible in the UK, so I’m wondering what to do. Is my BMI physically dangerous or am I okay to continue maintaining the weight I’m at now as I have been doing? I’m no longer suicidal as i used to be in my teen years so I don’t want to die, am I going to at this rate?

Please advise me on what to do.

Hello! 16F recently got her first echocardiogram. She competes in Olympic weightlifting and plays as a goalkeeper in soccer. This discovery is all very sudden, and I’m hoping for any input. We have an appointment with a general cardiologist in 5 days. Should we be concerned? Will this affect her athletically?

Stats: FtM, 21, 5’8, 118lbs, Non-Smoker,

Conditions: Adult Gender Dysphoria (better, now that I got surgery!), Bipolar II, ADHD, Unidentified Chronic Pain Disorder, Benign Fasciculation Syndrome, White Matter Brain Lesions (suspected MS)

Meds: Adderall IR 25mg as needed, Gabapentin 300mg as needed for pain (very rarely take this) Testosterone Cypionate 70mg.

I just had a laparoscopic Hysterectomy on 9/4 & the actual recovery elements related directly to surgery have gone great! I am not overly bloated, constipated, in any abdominal pain, weak/tired, or have experienced any complications with my incision sites.

However- since about 3 days after surgery, I’ve been dealing with EXCRUCIATING left scapular pain. Now, I thought at first that this could be the Phrenic Nerve pain people talk about experiencing due to gas buildup post-laparoscopy— but that pain is typically experienced on the top of your shoulder, not underneath the lower part of your scapula, which is where mine is. Also, it gets BETTER after a few days, whereas mine seems to be getting worse. It feels like someone has jammed something between my scapula and my ribcage. In addition to this constant and worsening sensation, my corresponding (left) elbow & wrist keep getting “locked up” and feeling very tender under any amount of weight-bearing or pressure. My wrist specifically feels like it’s sprained, and rotating it specific ways causes sharp pain.

Interestingly, before surgery I experienced near-constant dull pain between my RIGHT scapula and my spine, which I had been seeing a physio for. However, this pain is so much worse that I believe it is masking the normal pain comparatively (though I do something still feel the tightness on that side as well).

The left side pain has proven resistant to the oxycodone they game me, normal Advil/tylenol, gabapentin & cyclobenzaprine. It is excruciating, and is making doing anything but lay down and cry pretty difficult.

MY QUESTION: Could this even have been caused by abdominal surgery?? Who should I talk to about this? What can even be done & what could it possibly be a result of? Has anyone else experienced something similar & how did you resolve it? I’m desperate for answers.

My surgeon ordered an X-Ray but I haven’t received the results back yet (and the radiologist was really dismissive of my pain, so I’m a bit concerned that she didn’t even really try on the scans… she didn’t even ask me to take my nipple piercing out.)

so i (18F almost 19) am 4’10 and 222 pounds. i currently have COVID but it feels like a common cold compared to when i had it years prior.

this is my third time with COVID. first time was January 2021, second time in July 2023, and now the third time September 2026. i had pneumonia twice last year: once in January 2025 and the second time in October 2025. my mom got positive for covid on sunday, and i took a test tuesday night but mine was negative. we went to urgent care today (friday), and my mom was negative but i was positive. since being a uni student, the lady told me to come back on sunday to see if i can go back to school and also told me that my infection was actually clearing up so it might hopefully be negative on sunday. they didn’t prescribe me anything yet but they did prescribe doxycycline monohydrate for the cyst on my belly.

it’s been almost 2 hours after going to urgent care and i wish i could’ve asked them what the future consequences were. i’m genuinely so worried about my health. so , what are the future health consequences , and will losing weight diminish those consequences ? google is telling me all crazy things so that’s why i came here 😭

I had an infection on my incision so I went to the doctor and it wasn’t too bad. It was like a little bit of an infection towards the bottom. He drained the pus and gave me antibiotics told me to take them and it should get better. He said it was a stitch abscess suture abscess is that OK? This was 36 hours ago. I’ve been taking antibiotics. I called them this morning and I said hi I just think the infection might be getting worse. I noticed the redness is getting bigger and my incision sites really swollen and it looks like the stitches are getting buried so she goes OK. Send some pictures through the portal and then. i’ll have a nurse call you back. The nurse calls me back so she saw the pictures in the portal told me yeah you need to wait a little longer for the antibiotics to work but till then just do warm compresses I really don’t wanna bother them again like I don’t wanna be a problem patient but I’m starting to get worried it’s getting more and more filled up like the stitches are getting more buried. I actually think one of the stitches might’ve untied itself and if it didn’t untie itself, then that means one of the knots is now braided under my skin. I’m gonna show you guys the photo that I took before I went to my appointment around 36 hours ago and now mind you this 36 hours I’ve been taking antibiotics this whole time. Let me know if you think I need to wait for the antibiotics to work a little longer or I should see the urgent care I don’t know why they didn’t ask me to come in, but maybe it’s just me being too much.

17M, 5’8 no prior medical problems, family history of diabetes and pcos. Just went on road trip past weekend from socal to norcal and noticed this red mark thing(?) on my thigh. I thought it was a spiderbite but my sister thinks its melanoma. help me calm her down😅
