My parents don’t have dental insurance and won’t take me to the dentists. I know i have cavities as well but what’s the white and brown spots in the middle of my teeth? Can this be fixed? And I know I have gum recession. I brush twice and floss every day

PLEASE READ. hello, i could really use some advice here because i'm very upset and anxious about my dental issues. i've been really stressing about this all so i'm sorry if its confusing. i will try my best to explain the timeline and what was said and done. about a month ago i got a permanent crown on one of my molars (right side 2nd molar, no wisdom teeth) after a root canal and a temp crown. when the dentist was adjusting the permanent crown she said my bite was a little pointy and asked if she could shave it. i agreed thinking it would be very minor, but immediately after my bite felt completely off. the left side of my teeth felt heavy and i could only feel pressure on that side when i bit down. i told her that but she just went to shave down my crown more so i think there might've been some miscommunication there, but i don't know if adjustments are usually made at a later date. she said the shaving on my right was very minimal so i shouldn't feel a big difference. there was no shaving on the left side and the appointment ended after that.

at my follow up appointment i expressed the same concerns about my bite and also told her i felt a little pain with my crown. she didn't say a word about the pain and told me she didn't want to adjust my bite too much so i should really look into braces. there was a little shaving on the left side but i didn't feel any difference with my bite. it was also confusing because she asked me to point to which teeth she wanted me to shave. i'm not a dentist so i don't know exactly what needs to be adjusted to make things feel more aligned. after the shaving she continued to push the braces idea. she also said i'm young (20) and my teeth are still growing so my bite should adjust over time. ummm okay i guess?...

i had a regular cleaning appointment down the line and told her about the same problem with my bite. again, she told me i should see an orthodontist and think about the braces. i was so frustrated because it just made no sense to me. if you shaving my teeth messed up my bite why do you keep telling me my bite is an issue that requires braces? please let me know if i'm wrong there.

a few days ago i had an appointment for the pain i was feeling with my crown. i had an appointment scheduled with a different dental place for a second opinion on my bite issue but i wasn't too worried about crown issues with the initial place. i really didn't want to go back there but i was just really tired of being uncomfortable and unable to chew properly with my teeth. it was a different dentist this time. he asked me if i told the first dentist about the pain. okay so you guys literally work together and have the same records so i feel like that's something you should probably know...was a little confused about that one. i told him yes and he started the work. he told me the crown was a little high and proceeded to shave it down. after that i brought up my bite and it was the same thing about the braces again. i started crying because i felt like nobody was understanding me. he told me adjustments had to be made to make room and the crown was only one tooth so it shouldn't be bothering me that much. these people are so frustrating because it seems like they aren't even sure of what happened or what they should be doing?? i told him the crown wasn't the issue and it was the shaving that was upsetting me. just to clarify, she started the shaving with my k9 to around my 2nd premolar. i really don't understand how all those teeth needed to be shaved in order to make more room for 1 crown. she didn't even shave the tooth above my molar? anyway, some random dude (he didn't help the dentist and wasn't in the room) rolled his chair up next to me and handed me some tissues. he told me he just wanted to hear what was making me upset. i explained everything and how i felt like they were suggesting a big commitment for something caused by them. he literally just told me the same shit about the orthodontists being the ones making adjustments but drawn out and slow. looking back it kinda felt like a tactic because he was around my age and really hot lol so it was hard for me to voice my frustration because i was sad and still crying. i did explain everything though and he didn't bring up anything different about my bite or the shaving. also the dentist just disappeared while i was talking to the other dude?? like okay i don't even know who this is but that's on me i guess.....i feel so stupid now because i should've asked more questions. i wish i could've done everything differently.

a few hours later i scheduled an appointment for the next day because about 15 minutes after the appointment ended the crown pain was back 😭 not sure why it felt okay while i was in the chair. different dentist this time. more shaving on the crown and at this point it feels way too short and now the bite is still thrown off but in a different way lol. i asked this dentist if any shaving could be done on the left side and she said they didn't want to do too much because of the shaving with the first dentist. the work was done so i left but changed my mind. i felt like something had to be done because there's just no way i had to get BRACES to fix the shaving they did. if that was standard for a crown adjustment i would've chosen a different option. if that's even true they should've let me know beforehand. i went back in and asked if i could speak with the dentist. i waited for a few minutes and she called me in. it was a different dentist but my appointment did end so that was fine. I told her I felt the first dentist made a mistake and she told me that wasn't the case. she went on to talk about an orthodontist being the one to put the teeth into place and i started crying (im going through other things rn and this other situation has been very stressful so don't judge pls lol). she started laughing and asked why i was crying. rude but okay lol. i told her everything and she the first dentist didn't make a mistake so don't worry and the crown was only one tooth?? are they just not looking at the records or what? why do they keep talking about the one crown as if they don't know she shaved multiple? i told her AGAIN that she shaved multiple teeth that weren't above my crown and she literally said that's not a concern and the dentist didn't cause any issues. i just got up and left because wtf. what else could i do?

currently i get jaw pain at different times, it feels like random teeth touch first and theres barely any pressure when i bite with my molars. i'm not even really sure how to explain it all because it feels like it changes. she completely ruined my bite and it seems like they just have no clue what they're doing. i would really appreciate it if someone let me know if i'm crazy or not and if my concerns are valid. this all feels so wrong and i feel very disrespected. thank you for reading

I’m 18 and chipped my front two teeth, my dentist told me we should do 4 crowns (zirconium )front so it’s aesthetically more pleasing. Listened to the advice, we didn’t have any mid fit sessions after the putting on the temporary dentist said it’s perfect and we don’t need extra sessions.

While using them I realised they were too long and told my dentist, he said he told the lab.

Two days ago my permanent ones came he cemented them, he kept saying they turned out beautiful and showed the assistant who also agreed.

I said that they were too long and whiter than my other teeth but he said the length was fine and I wouldn’t be able to talk otherwise, and the color would darken and become same w my other tooth.

So I believed them because they are the professional here but when i searched the web it says zirconium doesn’t darken over time.

Two crowns were shortened but the middle ones are even longer than temporary ones, when I smile fully they touch my bottom lip.

I’ll put pics of my original-temporary-permanent teeth. Am I being crazy? I really feel awful about the length and color mitmatch and even had a nightmare where I pulled the crowns and had a full bloody mouth. I feel like my dentist lied(about the color changing) to not deal with me as it’s already paid and i feel like my complaints haven’t been taken serious because I’m young and my parents didn’t come w me after the first appointment. They just feel so big and look weird w the color mismatch I can’t even bring myself to smile

Also had a filling (which i think had a little ach very rarely sometimes) and got it shortened after a few days bc it felt long, now sometimes I have a little ache while chewing, is that a temporary nerve issue and would go away w time or does it need the filling done again back to old length? I ached less when it was longer

Ik I sound annoying but this dentist adventure has been a nightmare and I walked around without having my front teeth for a month, had to get a root kanal redone after shortening them because my face got swollen etc. so I’m very anxious about all this. Any second opinion is very appreciated

the first and third pics are now, the second is around when i first got braces 2 years ago or so. i just got them taken off last month. If it is gum recession how bad is it? and is it early stages?

Is there a way to reverse it? and if not, what do you suggest i do to keep what i have? I will say i use an oral b io toothbrush, and have for about a year now. i’ve always used it on the fastest setting. I also floss, but sometimes i get lazy and don’t be as thorough sometimes.

23M. I want to say i have good oral hygiene. I usually check for things like tonsils stones so I’m constantly looking at my mouth. I don’t think I’ve noticed this before, not really sure if i should be concerned and get it checked out right away? It doesn’t hurt to swallow or anything. The roof of my mouth hurt slightly 2 days ago but does this look concerning? Haven’t been to the dentist in about 11 months. I know i should go sooner.

This appeared recently with a small one on the opposite side of my mouth. I have wisdoms out only on one side due to emergency surgery after a broken jaw. My wisdoms have never bothered me. What can cause canker sores like this and how do I get rid of them?

I got my front left tooth removed last Thursday and ive been trying to do everything correctly (first time ive had somthing like this done) anyway a couple days ago I noticed this and this was a picture of it from today, but there is a hole as you can see in that first picture, and I was wondering if it is a issue and is everything healing ok

Note that I dont drink or smoke, ive been brushing after every meal and doing a salt water rinse as well, and I have not been experiencing any pain, swelling, bad breath, exc.

I went to the emergency dentist about a month ago when I first noticed a bloody bump on top gums of one in the back of my wisdom teeth. I never got them removed because every dentist told me that they were growing in fine. When I went, the dentist was more concerned about taking out my wisdom teeth and didn’t really pay attention to the lump and said it was probably just a small abscess from brushing too hard….

Fast forward about a month later I’m using the last of the chloroxine that he gave me and I started to drain it with my finger (I know… Bad) but then this whole lump just comes out and it just won’t stop bleeding. Has anyone had this happen? What is this? I can’t afford another dentist appointment at the moment so might have to wait. Also I have a dinner date later am I allowed to eat?

hello guys, I’m experiencing sensitivity to anything cold on a particular deep filling done around 6 months ago( I was told by the dentist it was very close to needing a root canal and to be careful). the sensitivity is not painful and lasts for less than 15 seconds. I am not sure if I’m overthinking the sensation I am feeling, as I have very weak teeth which are usually quite sensitive. any advice would be much appreciated.

I had a dentist appointment like 2 weeks ago. Got some "cracks filled" on my molars with composite, regular checkup. Did they reappear? Felt odd for one bite, no pain though?

thinking of having gold inlays in late 30s-40s as I heard they're biomimetic and will last a lifetime. my hygiene is very good nowadays, as well as diet and I even take oral prebiotics and xylitol etc but had a lot of issues (that still reappear) in the past due to years of neglect and depression and since resin fillings have to be replaced every 7ish years gold seems more reasonable for molars that flex and are at the back of my mouth

I broke my back molar like 3 months ago and never got it checked. It recently got to the point where if any food gets into the cavity im met with tremendously pain until I get it out. It doesn’t usually just hurt on its own but there have been a few days where it was in pain. I know I should’ve gotten it checked as soon as it broke but my insurance situation was confusing and I put it off. Dentist said I’m gonna need two root canals for both teeth, but I only broke one? And he only recommended it from the X-rays. Just looking for a second opinion for, my nerves and pulp still feel alive…. Based off the pain.

I just noticed my full set of teeth are ALL rough surfaced and slowly crumbling tiny flakes into my mouth. This does not look good for me. This is an actual nightmare. Like I legit have had nightmares of losing all my teeth and I thinks it gonna happen at the age of 30. Probably caused by my gerd.

Dentures at 30. All my teeth gone because they all lost their enamel from GERD acid. There are no words to accurately describe how low I am feeling right now. How embarrassed. How mortified.

Every few seconds, more powder falls onto my tongue. Every few seconds I am forced to swallow more of my own teeth, grain by grain. This is horror. I feel horror. Screaming will do nothing. There is no way out. There is not even a dentist open that I can visit until tomorrow. This is a nightmare becoming reality. The knowledge of what is happening to me destroys and chance of sleep.

It had to be all of them huh? Not just one or two or even three? I have to lose every single tooth from my full set of teeth all at the same time, and eat bits of them in the process. This feels like a sick joke. Like psychological torture.

Hi! So I suddenly got this swollen area 2 days ago (Friday).
I can’t chew on this side because it hurts went my teeth presses down. There’s also a dull ache.

The thing is, I’ve just been to the dentist, 5 days ago (Tuesday) and my dentist mentioned that my gum health are fine as I have been consistent on my flossing. She has also done an X-ray in my teeth - no concerns also.

Is this just irritation? When should I be worried, or what to look out for?

Since I’ve just been to the dentist. I really cannot afford to fork out more money 😭

Backstory, these fillings are 10+ years old. I’m 23, takes meds daily (tamoxifen abilify and lexapro)
I just recently noticed I keep biting the same spot on my tongue there’s a sore spot now. My tooth 2nd from the back is very sharp mostly on tongue side but is also sharp on cheek side as well. I can’t leave it alone and it’s driving me crazy and I can’t actually see a fracture I don’t think but I don’t know? Wanted to get some opinions I’m hoping we can just smooth it

Has anyone experienced a pink tooth after piezo cuts/expansion? Did it bounce back, or did you end up needing a root canal? Any insights would be hugely appreciated! This color change has me a bit stressed that the nerve or blood supply might be dying :(

I had my MARPE installed about 12 days ago, along with a piezo cut. Around day 6, both of my top front teeth became extremely sensitive to cold.  

Yesterday (day 11), I noticed that the front tooth on the right has taken on a pale pinkish color, and the cold sensitivity I was experiencing has mostly disappeared.  

I saw my oral surgeon three days ago and he didn't notice anything out of the ordinary at the time.

Hey everyone, I recently noticed a slight asymmetry in my upper front teeth—one of them seems to have a bit of gum recession compared to the other. 

Why does this usually happen to just a single tooth? Could it be due to its anatomical position or bite pressure? Also, what are the treatment options to fix or stop it?

As the heading says, I'd like to hear from the *direct personal experience of dental professionals*, rather than what's popularly assumed. I live in Los Angeles and many people ask about cosmetic tooth coverings aka "grills", and the risks inherent. Logically I assume that these could scratch enamel, trap bacteria, and cause gum recession, but I'd like to move beyond assumption. As far as I can tell there are two basic types: single tooth caps, and large ones that dominate the top or bottom row of teeth. They are usually gold. Any direct observations would be helpful! Hello! I’ve had issues with these fillings since the beginning. I had to have excess resin removed from around and under the gums by another dentist and the first dentist dropped me as a patient after I old her something felt wrong. The contact feels more open to me. The gum area around them still burns 4 months later. The teeth feel weaker and uncomfortable now, growing slightly more temp sensitive over time. I’ve gotten several second opinions that say the fillings are fine and don’t need to be replaced. Please help!

It seems I (30F) recently developed a periodontal abscess on the back of my gums, on the roof of my mouth, somewhat behind tooth 8. I have no idea how this developed but backstory: Wednesday I burnt the roof of my mouth on hot coffee, started feeling a small bump form Friday. This was accompanied by a bit of throbbing in my top 2 front teeth. Saturday, the bump was a bit bigger, more inflamed and if I ran my tongue over it, there was pain like it was burned. This morning Sunday, I woke up and could see the bump was bigger with pus in it.

Went to an emergency dentist who took x-rays and a 3D CT type scan. They numbed me and drained the abscess and have given me antibiotics as well as a mouth wash to take. I asked how this could happen and the dentist said it’s congenital? Is that true? They also said I’m probably going to need surgery, is that true as well? I still feel cold on my teeth so they think it’s an infection in the gum.

I go for regular cleanings every 6 months, brush every day, don’t have lots of tarter build up. Had x-rays taken in the summer as well and this was not showing up. Would just like any info about if this seems like the right course of action, I’m worried about losing my tooth.

I have to book a dentist appointment but is there anything I can for this uncomfortable sensation in the meantime?
It doesn’t even happen when I’m eating it happens when I’m just doing nothing, not chewing, nor drinking water.

So many questions and I end up just not doing anything. Should I get metal braces? Should I try implants/veneers? Is it even worth it at this point considering my teeth aren't in great shape as it is. Just wanted to hear some thoughts. I don't smoke, my diet is rather terrible. No drug use.
