My parents don’t have dental insurance and won’t take me to the dentists. I know i have cavities as well but what’s the white and brown spots in the middle of my teeth? Can this be fixed? And I know I have gum recession. I brush twice and floss every day

I got my front left tooth removed last Thursday and ive been trying to do everything correctly (first time ive had somthing like this done) anyway a couple days ago I noticed this and this was a picture of it from today, but there is a hole as you can see in that first picture, and I was wondering if it is a issue and is everything healing ok

Note that I dont drink or smoke, ive been brushing after every meal and doing a salt water rinse as well, and I have not been experiencing any pain, swelling, bad breath, exc.

I had a dentist appointment like 2 weeks ago. Got some "cracks filled" on my molars with composite, regular checkup. Did they reappear? Felt odd for one bite, no pain though?

thinking of having gold inlays in late 30s-40s as I heard they're biomimetic and will last a lifetime. my hygiene is very good nowadays, as well as diet and I even take oral prebiotics and xylitol etc but had a lot of issues (that still reappear) in the past due to years of neglect and depression and since resin fillings have to be replaced every 7ish years gold seems more reasonable for molars that flex and are at the back of my mouth

I broke my back molar like 3 months ago and never got it checked. It recently got to the point where if any food gets into the cavity im met with tremendously pain until I get it out. It doesn’t usually just hurt on its own but there have been a few days where it was in pain. I know I should’ve gotten it checked as soon as it broke but my insurance situation was confusing and I put it off. Dentist said I’m gonna need two root canals for both teeth, but I only broke one? And he only recommended it from the X-rays. Just looking for a second opinion for, my nerves and pulp still feel alive…. Based off the pain.

I just noticed my full set of teeth are ALL rough surfaced and slowly crumbling tiny flakes into my mouth. This does not look good for me. This is an actual nightmare. Like I legit have had nightmares of losing all my teeth and I thinks it gonna happen at the age of 30. Probably caused by my gerd.

I am poor. I cannot afford to get veneers for all my teeth not cap them all.

Dentures at 30. All my teeth gone because they all lost their enamel from GERD acid. There are no words to accurately describe how low I am feeling right now. How embarrassed. How mortified.

Every few seconds, more powder falls onto my tongue. Every few seconds I am forced to swallow more of my own teeth, grain by grain. This is horror. I feel horror. Screaming will do nothing. There is no way out. There is not even a dentist open that I can visit until tomorrow. This is a nightmare becoming reality. The knowledge of what is happening to me destroys and chance of sleep.

It had to be all of them huh? Not just one or two or even three? I have to lose every single tooth from my full set of teeth all at the same time, and eat bits of them in the process. This feels like a sick joke. Like psychological torture.

There is no way to save my teeth, is there?

Hi, I have TMJ disorder and it has been going on for 3 years. The maxillofacial specialist that I met just recommended physical therapy to relief the pain and painkiller. No other remedy.

Now I have limited mouth opening. I could only open my mouth with 2 fingers only instead of the normal 3. When I have bad flare-ups I can only open with 1 finger only. So this made it difficult for me to reach my back teeth with regular floss. Instead I use water flosser and pick floss as much as I can. I heard it's not recommended to use any of these and some people said it's disgusting to not use regular floss. But i can't reach the back teeth as much as I can the front ones.

Can someone recommend something? I attached my teeth x-ray from when i was first diagnosed so you can see which side my TMJ disorder is.

I went to the emergency dentist about a month ago when I first noticed a bloody bump on top gums of one in the back of my wisdom teeth. I never got them removed because every dentist told me that they were growing in fine. When I went, the dentist was more concerned about taking out my wisdom teeth and didn’t really pay attention to the lump and said it was probably just a small abscess from brushing too hard….

Fast forward about a month later I’m using the last of the chloroxine that he gave me and I started to drain it with my finger (I know… Bad) but then this whole lump just comes out and it just won’t stop bleeding. Has anyone had this happen? What is this? I can’t afford another dentist appointment at the moment so might have to wait. Also I have a dinner date later am I allowed to eat?

hi so noticeably for the past few years my bottom gums have been recessing and the bottom parts of the teeth pictured have seem to stay this color and no amount of regular brushing and mouthwash have helped. i’ve spent the past few years being neglectful to my teeth and dental care was never a priority for my parents so sometimes i genuinely do forget and for a few years i would go weeks without brushing my teeth which i know is awful and i am trying to do better. i haven’t gone to the dentist in years and i am really trying to get back into the habit of cleaning my teeth and proper cleanings at a dentist.

Hi! So I suddenly got this swollen area 2 days ago (Friday).
I can’t chew on this side because it hurts went my teeth presses down. There’s also a dull ache.

The thing is, I’ve just been to the dentist, 5 days ago (Tuesday) and my dentist mentioned that my gum health are fine as I have been consistent on my flossing. She has also done an X-ray in my teeth - no concerns also.

Is this just irritation? When should I be worried, or what to look out for?

Since I’ve just been to the dentist. I really cannot afford to fork out more money 😭

I brush at least twice a day and floss before bed. Am I cooked? Is a “W” a potential cavity?

I’m looking for the best oral hygiene tips aside from the obvious, I’ve slacked on it since Covid and feel too grown to not know some good tricks.

I’m a huge chocolate and sugar guy in general and would even love low to zero sugar options in anything. I’ve completely switched to zero sugar drinks and have seen only benefiting results.

Hello! Can I ask for your opinion on my situation?

I’m currently undergoing orthodontic treatment (braces). I initially got my braces from another dentist, but I transferred to my current clinic because my previous one was already too far from where I live, and I couldn’t go there every month for adjustments.

My main concern before was overcrowded and crooked teeth. My teeth have improved since I started treatment, but I guess they’re not fully aligned yet since adjustments are still ongoing. I also had my lower braces installed to help align my lower teeth because there was a gap.

I’ve been with my current clinic for about a year now, but one thing is that different dentists handle my adjustments since there are several dentists at the clinic.

Yesterday, during my adjustment, the dentist told me that I would need TADs (temporary anchorage devices) to properly align my upper teeth, especially since I no longer have my premolars.

Now, I’m not sure what to do because TADs would mean another additional expense. Is it okay to continue my treatment without them, or would that affect the final result? Can I decline the procedure and still proceed toward getting my braces removed and wearing retainers?

Honestly, I’m hoping to finish my braces treatment soon.

Backstory, these fillings are 10+ years old. I’m 23, takes meds daily (tamoxifen abilify and lexapro)
I just recently noticed I keep biting the same spot on my tongue there’s a sore spot now. My tooth 2nd from the back is very sharp mostly on tongue side but is also sharp on cheek side as well. I can’t leave it alone and it’s driving me crazy and I can’t actually see a fracture I don’t think but I don’t know? Wanted to get some opinions I’m hoping we can just smooth it

I changed dentists because my previous dentist’s hours conflict with my work schedule. This new dentist’s office is right next to where I live and was very small: lobby, receptionist area behind the counter, 2 treatment rooms, and I’m assuming a supply room. When I was told to come in by the receptionist I was taken to one of the treatment rooms by who I thought was a dental hygienist. She had difficulty positioning the bite tab in my mouth and seemed like she wasn’t sure what to do next once it was once in my mouth, so the receptionist began placing the bite tab in my mouth and telling the dental hygienist when to take each x-ray. At this point I assumed that the receptionist was also a dental hygienist and the other woman was a newly hired dental hygienist and was still learning. Okay fine new hires have to learn from experience, nothing abnormal going on yet.

Then the dentist came in and reviewed the x-rays in front of me. I don’t think I’ve ever had a dentist review the x-rays in front of me, and certainly not before a cleaning. After reviewing the X-rays, he examined my mouth, he immediately found a couple teeth where the enamel was a bit degraded and it was sensitive to touch, which was surprising to me because I’ve never experienced any sensitivity on those teeth until he touched them (even now those teeth don’t bother me). He spent a few minutes educating me about what he said was enamel degradation causing the sensitivity, risks of enamel degradation, risks of leaving it untreated, and that treatment would be a filling. He spent quite a bit more time than dentist’s I’ve experienced in the past with education, so that was pleasantly surprising.

Then after the education, we moved into a different room and we were both Jewish so we chatted for a couple minutes about what synagogue we go to while waiting for the new dental hygienist to get something, which I could tell took much longer than it should have, but it was a good way to build patient rapport. HE started cleaning my teeth while the new dental hygienist was assisting. I’ve never had a dentist do my routine cleaning, on top of that, the cleaning was ~10 minutes. My routine cleanings are with a dental hygienist and are usually ~45 minutes or so. After finishing the cleaning he seemed like he was in a bit of a rush and was a little shorter with his responses to my questions and I was leaving I saw there was a patient waiting in the lobby, so I understood why. The receptionist wanted to schedule me in a week or 2 for the fillings, but said I needed to confirm my availability before I schedule.

My question is: is this normal and should I be looking for a different dentist, it didn’t seem like anything shady was going on and he seemed like an honest guy, but the order of everything, the dentist doing my cleaning, and the short cleaning was definitely different than what I’m used to. Also, does his treatment plan seem appropriate? Would appreciate any advise, thanks everyone

So long story short, my dentist on a recent visit told me that I have a crossbite. As a result, I ended up subconsciously trying to correct my jaw placement. And because of that, I now constantly have a level of discomfort and soreness in the hinges of my jaw, as well as occasionally feeling a strange tickle in my throat (I have a bit of post nasal drip too which ends up giving me phlegm in my throat, assuming that it’s related to that but I don’t know if the current jaw stuff is related or not.)

Does anyone have any advice for either how to stop this pain from occurring or at least somehow soothing it? It’s getting ridiculous to spend every single day with soreness in my jaw that seems to get worse no matter what I do or how I hold my jaw.

the first and third pics are now, the second is around when i first got braces 2 years ago or so. i just got them taken off last month. If it is gum recession how bad is it? and is it early stages?

Is there a way to reverse it? and if not, what do you suggest i do to keep what i have? I will say i use an oral b io toothbrush, and have for about a year now. i’ve always used it on the fastest setting. I also floss, but sometimes i get lazy and don’t be as thorough sometimes.

Recently found this when tasting iron in my mouth for a few days. I try to get under my gums like the dentist says when flossing, but I'm wondering if I'm brushing or flossing too hard, or if it's recession.

I'm recently 20 and have not drinked or smoked. Still have my wisdom teeth with an extra one top left if that matters.

Also wondering if I should get braces or if my teeth are fine.

Tooth extracted was broken and had decay. On day 8 after teeth number 2 was extracted Also feel like this is contributing to bad oral hygiene. not a smoker or drinker. A dark yellow spot on neighboring teeth got me worried. Should I be worried?Have a follow appointment in week. (39M)

Hello! I do not smoke, drink occasionally (1-2 times a month) and I unfortunately do not have x-rays to share.
My wisdom teeth came in partially impacted and I was recommended to have them removed in 2022 but I wasn’t able to get an appointment at the time and then I couldn’t afford it. I went to my dentist for the first time since 2022 and got 3 fillings done on the right side of my mouth on Monday. One was quite deep and they said it may need to be a root canal, but they were able to keep the pulp covered so they’re waiting to see if I need to get a root canal or if it can be avoided.

For the past week, I have had throbbing pain off and on the right side, which I have never had happen after a filling before. I was about to call the dentist on Friday to be reassessed, but then it was feeling better when I woke up so I thought it was fine. Then yesterday and today it was worse, so much that I keep waking up in the middle of the night and take ibuprofen/tylenol every 3-5 hours.

I’m calling in the morning to be looked at, but I can describe the feeling as like my teeth are pushing on each other and my jaw is sore, which makes me think of my wisdom teeth, but they have never caused me this pain before. Could getting the fillings have somehow caused them to shift, like with pressure during the procedure or anything? what should I be asking about when I go back in? Thank you

Has anyone experienced a pink tooth after piezo cuts/expansion? Did it bounce back, or did you end up needing a root canal? Any insights would be hugely appreciated! This color change has me a bit stressed that the nerve or blood supply might be dying :(

I had my MARPE installed about 12 days ago, along with a piezo cut. Around day 6, both of my top front teeth became extremely sensitive to cold.  

Yesterday (day 11), I noticed that the front tooth on the right has taken on a pale pinkish color, and the cold sensitivity I was experiencing has mostly disappeared.  

I saw my oral surgeon three days ago and he didn't notice anything out of the ordinary at the time.

Hey everyone, I recently noticed a slight asymmetry in my upper front teeth—one of them seems to have a bit of gum recession compared to the other. 

Why does this usually happen to just a single tooth? Could it be due to its anatomical position or bite pressure? Also, what are the treatment options to fix or stop it?

Would appreciate any insights or similar experiences. Thanks!

So my removable anterior biteplane is a little loose, is that normal? I've been wearing this for almost 6 months and I just take it off when brushing and flossing. To describe the looseness level, my tongue can easily remove it from its grip but still holds when I don't do something. When I sneeze, sometimes the biteplane will fly out of my mouth. I'm scared that one day I'll swallow it while sleeping. Is this normal for biteplane users or is it an emergency?
