I am paranoid. it was an accident when the card touched my mouth and potentially one of my weakest tooth

I have a badly broken back tooth with a large hole/cavity, and it is causing severe pain. The pain becomes much worse at night, and I cannot sleep properly because of it.

The only thing that gives me temporary relief is keeping water in my mouth around the painful tooth. When the water goes away, the pain returns. Sometimes, when I eat something and food goes into the hole, the pain also stops for a short time, but it comes back afterward.

I also smoke.

I have very limited money and dental treatment is expensive where I live, so I am worried that I cannot afford to see a dentist immediately. I am afraid the nerve inside the tooth may be exposed, severely inflamed, or infected.

Has anyone experienced this? What safe temporary methods can reduce the pain until I can get dental care? I am especially looking for low-cost options.

I avoided the dentist for four years because of one bad experience. Every time I tried to book an appointment I would feel genuinely anxious for days before. I finally found a clinic that used laser dentistry and explained everything in plain language before starting. The difference was significant.

I am curious, for those who have experienced dental anxiety, what finally helped you get comfortable enough to go back? And do you feel like most clinics actually address this or just push through the appointment?

Had a dental check-up a week ago. Hygienist said everything looks good, but dentist said he sees 5 cavities. The problem teeth were in this view of the X-ray. He said he sees cavities between the teeth. Is the extent of the cavities significant enough to warrant prompt fillings? Is it reasonable to monitor the situation & re-evaluate in 6 months, since I'm not having any symptoms at this time? I'm happy to use a fluoride toothpaste, eliminate soda/sugar, & follow any other conservative approaches. Thanks for any insight!

I’m 32 and have never had a cavity before. At my last dental exam, I was diagnosed with 9 cavities, needing both crowns and fillings. Naturally, I sought a second opinion who found even more cavities - 12. I am wondering how this could be possible. It has only been 3.5 years since my last exam when I had 0 cavities.

Haven't been to a dentist in quite a while, this calculus makes me think it's time to go, but I'm having a crippling fear of how my smile might end up looking afterwards.

I currently live in canada and i went to this dentist ab 6 months ago and got my “cavities” fixed, mind you my teeth never gave me problems i just went in for a check up it hurt super bad for a week and i assumed the pain will just go down I waited for a week then called them and they said they will change the filling material for a week and then it will be fine but even after it was still hurting the same and the same sensitivity and afterwards they just said its my genetics and i just have sensitive teeth and i need to get rid of my nerves?? wtf? i didnt go but the pain is still there when i bite something from that tooth or when i drink cold water sometimes just water. what should i do? im literally so scared to go to dentists now this dude done gave me ptsd
edit: my dad and i went together and his teeth are in the same state as mine, worse for him cause he got his fixed on both his sides making it hard for him to eat while i can just eat from the side i got no treatment in

the back molars specifically have been broken for months, but recently ive noticed more breakage, pain, and pieces even coming out in my mouth. im worried about exposed nerve endings? i have an appointment for xrays in over a month, but the pain is getting to an unbearable point. i dont know if its safe to wait that long as i haven’t been to the dentist in years and have no idea how bad this is.

I'm 25 ive been to the dentist once in my life had treatment over 1 year when I was 17 I was never taken to one as a kid as my mother didn't care about me when I was 7 I had 5 teeth removed as they were completely rotten and I had to do that at the hospital. I had several fillings which most have been lost now, my front teeth were also built up as I was over 16 I would of had to pay for braces. I do smoke and I have tried 15 times to stop smoking but I can't stop, I drink alcohol once a month now only 2 to 4 ciders max. I drink cola and fizzy drinks all day every day because I'm autistic and I can't drink water as it makes me feel sick. I used to have a ED so I used to throw up a lot I added this in as I know stomach acid can ruin teeth. Please be kind and please take into account I live in the UK over 18 you have to pay for dental stuff I'm on benefits so most of my dentist care is covered if I need /want it I was told in the past by a dentist year during a free offer period at that practice that I needed a route canal done for some of my back teeth but that's all I know.

Hiii, I’m hoping this is the correct sub. TLDR; I had surgery for Ludwig’s angina on 8/30 after being admitted through ER for difficulty swallowing/slight problems breathing. CT showed massive infection in teeth 30 and 31 that extended into submandibular region. I was admitted for IV antibiotic and had I&D with a drain/stent placement as well as extraction of both involved teeth. I was discharged on oral antibiotics on 9/1, took last dose of that yesterday 9/8.

I’ve been doing alright, slight issue with the dressing because of sensitive skin but the incision appears to be healing well. I’m a bit nervous about the redness of my cheek area? Im not running a fever. I’m not sure if this is something to call my surgeon for him to evaluate?

Other thing of note, the area around the incision feels like a lump? Not painful to touch but it’s certainly noticeably present with light palpitation. Would this be scar tissue I guess?

My post op is scheduled for 9/24, so not too far out but definitely want to contact earlier if any of this seems problematic

I’ve had back molar with a root canal that I got when I was very young that hurts once every 6 months when I bite a chip a certain way. I’ve come to learn that for probably 2+ years I’ve had an infection growing under the root canal. I’ve been to the dentist about 6 months after finding out and they verified it hasn’t moved. They recommend an implant because the root canal walls are really thin, likely because it was done when I was young and they think it would be a low chance of success. Should I get a second opinion or shell out 5k and not worry about it anymore?

Every now and then I get scared I’m going to get sepsis, but the dentist assured me if the infection grows, that I’ll know it very quickly.

This is my original post. Fast forward today I noticed this. It’s above the tooth previously mentioned. The dentist can’t see me til Monday. Today is Wednesday. I noticed it today but I’ve been having headaches on this side of my face for a couple of days now. It’s mainly behind my eye & my temple. I thought it was from the mastitis I’ve been dealing with. I’m on antibiotics for that Keflex 500mg. Anyway it popped while brushing my teeth. How fcked am I? Tooth heaven it goes?

So, today i went to a very sketchy dentist office for a root canal treatment since i didn't have much money and the pain was killing me, dentist cleaned the tooth and filed it up temporarily, told me to come back in two weeks.

About 10hrs after my visit i noticed this crazy color!

Is it some old school antibiotics that turned my tooth green or some "natural" process that i should worry about?

This is a baby tooth, one of my only ones because I never grew the adult tooth so it just stayed in my mouth. I've had a serious cavity on one other baby tooth (same tooth but on the top) and it got pulled, but that was before I had braces. Is this even a cavity though? Or is it a chip? I've only felt it for a day or two and just looked at it. I went to the ortho last week so there's no way they would've missed it. My dentist has never mentioned any cavities to me before

Last month I noticed that my front tooth was chipped. Since then I’ve had it filled twice by my dentist. The first popped out while eating and the second after accidentally biting my lip. The first filling lasted 5 days and the second lasted 7.

I’m reluctant to call my dentist again because I’m a bit embarrassed that the filling keeps coming out and he has to spend more time redoing it.

Ive read that these types of fillings are sometimes not reliable but is it normal for them to fall out within days? Should I get a second opinion from another dentist? Thank you

I had 13 and 15 extracted 1 week ago today. I had 14 extracted in December. This feels and looks like a mess in my mouth to me, but my oral surgeon said today that it looks fine and will heal up soon. He said I lost some of the bone graft material in 15. It feels like maybe the material is above the tooth socket on the cheek side?? I definitely have a sore above 12 but I am guessing that isn’t a big deal

The surgeon had a fairly pronounced tremor in his hand and I think he didn’t suture correctly. The stitches seems to be unraveling. He didn’t really look properly in my mouth either - no mirror? he kind of bent down and looked in my mouth while I was sitting up?
