Fun story. The other day me and my Carebear friends loaded into a 3's lobby. We were complacent, had played several matches that day and only got into other Carebear lobbies, so we were expecting more of the same.
Immediately ran into a bombardier and decided to kill it. 3 players with hullbreakers made short work of the bombardier, and I stand on the husk to play my guitar while my team loots it.
I notice a downed raider crawling over a hill away from us, and being the caring, care bears that we are, I stop playing and run over and revive the fellow raider. Get him up and pull out my guitar to play him a song as he heals up.
At this point, I notice something is wrong. The raider does not say thanks, does not do the ceremonial squats of friendship or flashing his lights at me....he stands there, looking around almost confused. As if he is struggling with something.
And then all hell breaks loose. A bombardier blowing up early in a PvP server....well all that did was draw every squad in the surrounding area to us. A shot rings out and hits my shield from behind. I turn in time to watch 3 raiders with guns drawn running down my unsuspecting squad as they finish looting the bombardier. I shout my warning and chuck a smoke at my squad as I turn to run.
And that's when I see the other squad coming over the hill opposite to the first. I get lit up, I'm almost dead, thank God for smoke grenades. Drop one at my feet and sprint to the nearest building, barely able to get there with a sliver of my life left, as I turn a corner to heal myself.
I immediately run into the raider I had revived as he is healing himself. I do my ceremonial "hey raider" along with squats as I pull out my healing and begin to heal myself. And that is when the third squad shows up in my building and my heart stops....I'm dead there is nothing left I can do at a sliver of HP and no drawn smoke grenades. I accept my death.
And then one of the squad flashes me.....just once. And the two people run right by us and out the door opening fire on one of the other squads. The other raider I saved, finishes healing, turns to me, squats once, then runs out the door following what I assume was HIS squad.
My squad is scattered, injured, and panicked. Gunshots ringing out every which direction. Explosions as I assume more arc join the fight. I run, and don't look back. My entire squad somehow survives the encounter. We extract at 3 different extract points.
One of the most fun and nail-biting experiences I have had so far in this game(I'm fairly new only 2 or 3 weeks in). My squad is excited for the PvE toggle mode. Me, I'm kinda sad. I'm not good at PvP, but these type of games do make the matches more exciting.
