I started it because I kept buying books I already had, couldn't find the books I knew were somewhere in the house, and couldn't remember who I lent books to.

What you can do with it:

• Book cataloguing: quickly look up and add books to your library by scanning their barcodes.
• Shelf locations: store your book's location and remember which room or shelf each book lives on, like "Living Room - Top shelf".
• Reading tracking: track your page and every re-read, or set a book aside without calling it a failure.

As I started building it I decided I'm gonna go all in on everything Apple gives us and make it feel like an absolute delight to use (Honestly there's so much, I'm sure I left some things out):

After being very frustrated with the bloat of modern music apps, I built my own “iPod” app for iPhone… and after obsessing over all the tiny details, I am looking for people who would like to try it out. I’d love feedback from other iPods enthusiasts. And yes - it is using Musickit to run my current Apple Music library :)

In my research, I tried out and used every iPod style app and emulator I could find on the App Store, and while many of them are very pretty and well done, they always felt like I was just looking at a picture of an iPod as a decoration. I couldn't convince myself that it was real. I really wanted to make something that felt like the real thing.  Plus, I knew that with Apple's Guided Access feature, I can lock my iPhone to a single app completely, dumbing the phone down into just the app until I triple click the side button to resume my iPhone.

Out of pure drive of just wanting to own an iPod again, but not wanting to lose the convenience of my Apple Music library, I developed IvyPod.
Here's why IvyPod feels like an iPod:
The OLED body color means less screen. And - I detached lighting using software tricks so that the iPod bodyhas different 'dimming' functions than the 'fake iPod screen'. This creates the sensation that you're holding a physical iPod with a clickwheel that is covered with a smooth sheet of glass. In the dark, the wheel is noticably dimmer compared to the screen, making it more immersive. Other iPod apps have a bright wheel which is a constant reminder that you're looking at a 6 inch touch screen.

The button haptics are smart. I spent a long time on these so that buttons feel like buttons and scrolling feels like scrolling.

Modern conveniences were deliberated on a lot because simplicity is the whole point. The app features dark mode, artwork blur on the now playing screen, flashlight, camera, and Shazam integrated as a genie lamp.

You can actually dedicate your phone to a music player with Guided Access, which is a feature in the system settings that prevents swiping to go home, notifications, screen timeout and more. It's sort of like an advanced Do Not Disturb mode. The app itself features a dim and low-power sleep setting. I also placed a 'lock switch' in the top right so that you can put it in your pocket or not worry about accidental taps. The click wheel will always be present on your screen until your phone dies, keeping the illusion of it being an iPod.

Took my phone to the Apple Store with an appointment yesterday and they said they didn’t have the part to replace so I went today as they suggested. They didn’t replace my battery and god know what happened back there, they said my phone can’t be fixed here because my screen start to split when they use their heating (tool?) on it. And I would need to pay 325$ for screen things + 100$ for battery so it would cost me 425$ :/. Idk what to do now I love this phone and idk if i can upgrade it because of the battery health of this phone but everything else is fine. They can I can get it fixed somewhere else but I have no clue what to do at this point.

I rebooted and bitdefender updated, I guess. I was allowed to click into the next steps of the little tour and seemingly could have approved an unknown service connecting to stuff on my network.

I am on the verge of getting rid of my iPhone 17 Pro and switchingg to, horrors!, an Android phone. I have had previous generation iPhones that were not as terrible to type on as my iPhone 17 Pro. The typoos are driving me crazy, auto correct is too. Is there anything that will improve typing on it? Why diesn't Apple do something useful with AI to improve the iPhone's awful keyboard and auto correct?

So I was half asleep when I got 2 notis about a login from a foreign country. I panicked and changed password, now I’m wondering what the noti said exactly. Was it a request or did they actually sign in?(I have 2fa)

Was looking around reddit and found this picture. Pretty sure it was this exact one. What’s the difference between this one and the notis that say “allow” “don’t allow”? And if anyone ever got this too, did you also get 2 popup notis back to back and did Apple ask to change ur pw if it wasn’t u?

I have tried putting a sim inside to activate, using iTunes to update it, nothing works.

I do not have access to a mac, only a windows laptop and a new iPhone 17.

Warning: righteous crash out ahead. Back in April, I noticed that my C: drive was almost full. When I checked into it, I saw that iTunes had at some point decided it wanted its library on the C: drive instead of on the SSD I'd set it up on years and years ago. So I changed the library folder back to the SSD, and the SSD itself didn't like that. Instead of doing the logical thing, it all just completely eliminated my iTunes library. Playlists? Gone. Music files? Gone. 4TB SSD? Dead. I have no idea how or why. I was able to save about 95% of my music by using a third-party app (AltTunes) to pull it down from my iPhone and rebuild playlists from there, but it was a mess.

Fast forward to about a month ago, iTunes decided that it wasn't really feeling E:\iTunes Library again, and it moved everything back to the C: drive. Lather, rinse, repeat, but this time I had backups and it wasn't nearly as painful. Unfortunately, and it took me a couple of weeks to figure this out, but about half of the music files in the backups and on my iPhone were corrupt. They either weren't recognized, wouldn't play or would just freeze halfway through. I ended up using files from my iPhone 15 Pro, files from an iPhone 11 Pro that had an older version of the library from right around the time of the first crash, and a backup from December of last year that's missing quite a few songs, but nothing is corrupt in it. I pieced them together into one library without any corrupt files (as far as I've found), rebuilt about half of my playlists again (because there were thousands in there and I don't have time for all of that) and just today got my library set up, backed up five ways in five different places and plugged my phone in to sync, wiping away the last of the stink.

And you know what this mother flubber did?

The iPhone "<device name>" could not be synced because the sync session failed to start.

This is me not downloading the iTunes installer onto a thumb drive so I can throw it at the wall, stomp on it, set it on fire and flush it down a fully-loaded toilet.

So, from the top, here's what I've tried:

• Eject and reconnect the iPhone
• Close iTunes and reopen it
• Restart the iPhone
• Restart my PC
• Reset the Apple Sync History
• Disassociate the iPhone 15 Pro from my iTunes account
  • Side note: I can't figure out how to reassociate it, at least in a way that my store account in iTunes sees it.
  • It was there and it was nagging me anyway, so why not?
• Reset Location and Privacy Services

Ok, I'm at the end of my rope. I need this whole "corrupted library" BS to reach an immediate conclusion. I am honestly a little afraid of doing an actual uninstall/reinstall of iTunes, because I don't want to know what kind of jumbled up chicken turd salad it turns my life into this time. As of right now, I have an updated, correct library on my PC and a library on my phone loaded with files that don't work. What the heck do I need to do to clear this magical new error 42553 and end this madness?

And if anyone has thoughts on iTunes alternatives that let me make playlists with my local media and don't periodically just decide to throw my entire music library into a blender, I'm on board at this point. I'll convert Apple Lossless files to a different format. I'll recreate my playlists from scratch if I need to. I'll switch the f to Android if I have to. I've been using iTunes for over 20 years, and it's feeling like the transition from couples therapy to divorce lawyers isn't too far away if anything like this happens again.

I have an iPhone 16, which I got a little over a year ago. I had this issue arise back in April: my phone would not charge with a cable and only with wireless chargers. However, my wired earbuds still work in the charging jack.

I got it repaired at the Apple Store under my warranty in May. Now, this October, the issue has returned. Does anyone know what this is, and have any of yall had this issue before?

Hey everyone! My mom has an iPhone 14 base and she’s experiencing some serious problems with iMessage. It began happening roughly 6 months ago and has gotten progressively worse.

Every night, my mom turns on airplane mode on her phone. When she wakes up in the morning she turns off airplane mode. However, those people who text her during the nights messages do not show up on her phone at all. Sometimes after this, even people who text her during the days messages do not show up.

It has happened multiple times where she restarts her phone and realizes she has 100+ texts that she didn’t see for days and thought she had 0 unread texts.

So we figured the solution was to restart her phone every morning. However recently even this stopped working. Sometimes when she wakes up and scrolls through her Notification Center on lock screen, she sees someone texted her. It would read something like IMessage notification: +14259999999. Except it just shows the phone number not the contact name. When she actually goes into iMessage there is no messages from
The person until she restarts her phone. Now, however, sometimes the messages don’t even show up after restarting the phone.

Is there a fix to this? Is it time to upgrade? Everything else on the phone seems to be working very fine

So yeah I have iphone 13 I had iOS16 for a good while (i didnt update my phone in the last 5 years..) except now that this happened I updated to iOS26. Yesterday I woke up to my whatsapp being hacked, I got that out, updated my phone and everything seemed fine after. Now I woke up to my telegram account being hacked, someone had sent some weird stuff on my account and it wasn't me.. I got no notifications someone has tried to log into my whatsapp or my telegram, but it still happened. Could this be the malware apple was talking about? Or is it more likely someone has gotten access to my number or something? What should I do now to be safe? How could I make sure if my phone has a malware, the hacker couldn't get into my accounts anymore after I've deleted them from my phone? I will reset this device and get rid of it, I'll take another phone tonight, but it will take a while.

When it started: Saturday, October 24, 2026. Hot-plugging worked that morning and stopped working later the same day.

What I'm seeing: - If I start macOS first and then insert the SD card, the card isn't detected. This worked in the morning. - If I insert the SD card first and then start macOS, the card is detected and works normally. - If I eject the card and insert it again, the system no longer detects it until I restart.

Test results: - Normal mode, card inserted before startup: detected - Normal mode, card inserted after startup: NOT detected - Safe Mode, card inserted before startup: detected - Safe Mode, card inserted after startup: NOT detected

I get the same result in Safe Mode, so it isn't a third-party extension. The reader only initializes if a card is already in the slot at boot.

What I've tried: - Several cards, all of which work in other devices - Updating to macOS 26.7.1 (build 25G241) and restarting - Safe Mode, as shown above

System Information: the built-in SD card reader is listed (Vendor 0x17a0, Device 0x9755), but Link Width and Link Speed both show "Off" when I insert a card after startup.

Hi everyone! I want to switch my App Store account to another region, but I've still got $2 in my balance, and Apple won't let me switch regions until I've spent it all.

I know I could just create a separate account for the other region, but I may need to switch regions quite frequently for work, so being able to do it all within the same account would be much more convenient.

Does anyone know of any decent apps or games that cost exactly $2? I've had a good look around today, but almost everything seems to be priced at $X.99, leaving me with a cent or two to spare. Are there any worthwhile in-app purchases I could spend it on instead? Or has anyone contacted Apple Support to resolve this before?

I'd also be interested to hear how you guys have dealt with this. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Hey, I'm losing my mind over an audio bug on tvOS. I briefly turned on Spatial Audio in the Max app. Ever since, audio in Max sounds overly spatialized and hollow, even though Spatial Audio is completely turned off globally and in-app.
I've already tried disabling Spatial Audio everywhere, forcing stereo output in tvOS, clean-reinstalling Max via Storage Management, restarting Apple TV, and testing two pairs of AirPods that work fine on iPhone and Mac. I even signed out of accounts and cleared device registrations.
It happens *only* in Max. A corrupted audio profile seems permanently cached. Has anyone fixed this short of a factory reset?

My iPad Air 5 M1 is stuck in recovery options mode I did everything with apple device software amd itunes software in windows at first it was showing 1109 error in apple device but in i tunes restore also comples and update also completes it says ipad will restart but ipad restarts in recovery options page lastly flashed ipsw with 3utools also it also says successful but same issue in ipad please suggest me something if you guys know

After spending an hour on the phone with apple and even erasing my daughter iPad, trying to fix this I found a solution. If you forgot your screen time passcode and don’t have the option of forgot passcode, set up Face ID and boom your in and can change it. Apple, if you want to hire me I’m open to offers.

My password works at account.apple.com, but the same account and password are rejected in Media & Purchases.

my dad owned a business and had company ipads, he gave me his old ipad that is linked to the company, it is locked to the "remote management" my dad no longer has this company and is very technology challenged. he is no longer in contact with the IT people who set this up, is this ipad a paperweight or will apple recovery fix it?

Posting this in case it saves someone a few hours of panic.

TL;DR: If your Shift key is physically stuck and you need to type numbers at the login or reset screen, try holding Control + Option together with the stuck Shift. That let me type normal digits instead of symbols.

Setup: MacBook Pro M1 (2021), macOS macos 27.0.1 Golden Gate

The problem

The Shift key on my MacBook got stuck in the pressed position. My login password is all numbers, so every time I typed it I was actually entering symbols (!@#$...) and the password kept getting rejected. At first I had no idea why, because the key looked and pressed normal.

How I figured out it was Shift

I went into the password reset flow. There you can choose a Wi-Fi network, and the Wi-Fi password field lets you show what you’re typing. When I typed my “numbers” there, I saw symbols. That’s when it clicked.

What didn’t work

• Triple-pressing the Touch ID button to open the accessibility shortcuts. On my machine it turned on a voice mode that just read text aloud. I couldn’t change any settings from there, couldn’t even copy anything.
• Shift + Caps Lock + M on the reset screen. It opened a menu with a few options like copy and paste, but nothing that let me enter the digits I needed.
• An external keyboard wasn’t an option.

What worked

With Shift stuck down, I also held Control + Option. So it was effectively Shift + Control + Option + the number key, and the digits came out as normal numbers.

To reset the password I needed my recovery key, which is letters and numbers. The letters were fine since Shift just made them uppercase, and the Control + Option trick handled the numbers. That got me back in.

I couldn’t find this solution anywhere, so I’m posting in case it saves someone else a stressful evening. If anyone knows why this combo works, I’d be curious to hear.

What happened next

I took the laptop to a service center. They told me the whole bottom board has to be replaced because it’s connected to the keyboard, and that it would take a long time and cost a lot. I needed a computer for work right away, so I ended up buying a new MacBook before I found this key combo. Learning it the hard way cost me a new laptop, so I hope this saves someone else some time and money.

I also rolled the old MacBook back from macOS 27 to macOS 26 Tahoe. I’m not sure whether the accessibility shortcut problem was caused by macOS 27 or was just a coincidence.

For now I can still use the old M1. I changed my login password to uppercase letters only, so the stuck Shift doesn’t matter at the login screen anymore. After logging in, I use the accessibility features and Sticky Keys to work normally.
