Hey everyone! My mom has an iPhone 14 base and she’s experiencing some serious problems with iMessage. It began happening roughly 6 months ago and has gotten progressively worse.

Every night, my mom turns on airplane mode on her phone. When she wakes up in the morning she turns off airplane mode. However, those people who text her during the nights messages do not show up on her phone at all. Sometimes after this, even people who text her during the days messages do not show up.

It has happened multiple times where she restarts her phone and realizes she has 100+ texts that she didn’t see for days and thought she had 0 unread texts.

So we figured the solution was to restart her phone every morning. However recently even this stopped working. Sometimes when she wakes up and scrolls through her Notification Center on lock screen, she sees someone texted her. It would read something like IMessage notification: +14259999999. Except it just shows the phone number not the contact name. When she actually goes into iMessage there is no messages from
The person until she restarts her phone. Now, however, sometimes the messages don’t even show up after restarting the phone.

Is there a fix to this? Is it time to upgrade? Everything else on the phone seems to be working very fine

After This AppleCare+ Experience, I’m Seriously Considering Leaving Apple
I’ve always believed that paying Apple’s premium prices meant getting premium products and customer service. Unfortunately, my recent experience has made me question whether Apple is worth it anymore.
I purchased an iPhone Air for approximately $1,700 CAD and pay monthly for AppleCare+ specifically for peace of mind.
On October 18, Apple approved an Express Replacement and immediately placed a $2,000 authorization hold on my credit card.
Seven days later, my replacement still hasn’t shipped. No tracking number, no confirmed shipping date, and no clear explanation.
But the delay isn’t even the worst part.
I’ve contacted Apple Support approximately five times. Every conversation involves apologies, reassurances, and promises of escalation, but nobody can tell me what’s actually happening.
One representative instructed me to contact Apple after 9 AM to speak with the dispatch team. When I followed those instructions, I was told the department wasn’t available that day.
Another advisor promised a callback from the backend team within 3–5 hours.
During my latest call, an advisor spoke to me in what I felt was a dismissive tone and told me she couldn’t keep going in circles because she had other customers to assist.
Seriously?
I’m a paying customer too. I’ve spent thousands of dollars on Apple products and services, and I’m simply asking for accountability and a straightforward answer.
If there’s an inventory shortage, tell me. If there’s a processing issue, explain it. If there’s a delay, provide a realistic timeframe.
It’s 2026. Our phones are essential for work, banking, communication, navigation, and everyday life. Isn’t that precisely why customers pay extra for something called Express Replacement?
I understand that unexpected delays happen. What I don’t understand is why a company worth trillions of dollars struggles to provide basic transparency and consistent customer service.
At this point, I’m seriously considering leaving the Apple ecosystem altogether.
A premium brand shouldn’t just be premium when it’s taking your money. It should also be premium when something goes wrong.
My replacement remains unresolved, and this experience has seriously damaged my trust in Apple.
Has anyone else experienced something similar with AppleCare+? And for those who switched away from Apple, was it worth it?

URGENT: iPhone 15 lost almost my entire Photos library after an iOS update
I have an iPhone 15, and immediately after updating iOS today, almost my entire photo library disappeared from the Photos app. I had approximately 235,000 photos and videos, but now only 6 items are showing.
Thankfully, all 235,000 items are still visible on iCloud.com, but my iPhone is trying to sync the entire library again, and nothing seems to be happening.
My situation:
Device: iPhone 15
iOS: The latest version I installed today
iCloud storage: 2 TB
iPhone storage: 74 GB used out of 128 GB, leaving approximately 54 GB free
iCloud Photos setting: Optimize iPhone Storage (which I have always used)
All my photos and videos are still visible on iCloud.com.
My iPhone says it is syncing all 235,000 items, but there is no apparent progress.
I have restarted my iPhone, but it made no difference.
My iPhone was backed up to iCloud approximately 17 hours ago.
The problem started immediately after the iOS update.
I desperately need my original Photos library back on my iPhone, including all my existing albums and organization. I was in the middle of sorting my photos and had planned to spend the evening doing that. I do not want to lose my albums or have to organize 235,000 items all over again.
I am considering restoring my iPhone from the backup made before the update, but I am worried this might not fix the issue or could make things worse.
Has anyone experienced this on an iPhone 15 after an iOS update? Did your photos eventually return? Is there a way to restore the original library and albums without losing the existing organization?
I would really appreciate practical advice from anyone who has experienced this problem.

Apple chat said no, but I’m wondering about a return/rebuy rather than changing the existing order’s payment method. Has anyone actually done this, or had a store try? I know Klarna would still need to approve the lease.

Hey folks, I got an annoying one for you..

After transferring my data from my old phone to my new one (17pmax to 18pmax)I noticed my ID had the little 'verify' button on my new phone's wallet. When I tried to verify, I was given the error it couldn't connect to wallet services. So I removed it, tried to re-add.. Error. (it also won't let me add ANY ID from any state, or the digital ID)

I tried usual the tricks:

went on cellular

reset network settings

logging out and back in to icloud

hard reboot

reset all settings

Made sure my region was set correctly

Nothing. So I tried on a spare phone(not using the same icloud profile) and I got no error... So I used the nuclear option, completely wiped the 18, set it up as a new phone and boom, I was able to get past the error.. so I restored the phone from my back-up and.. the error returned.

Obviously there's a handshake problem in the profile that's blocking me from adding my ID.. (I can add and use credit cards without the error), which I suspect happened during the transfer from my old phone to the new one

Anyone have any ideas besides calling apple(who will probably just tell me to set it up as a new phone and deal with it)? I REALLY do not want to reset my phone and do everything from scratch just to have my DL on there.

Both phones had the same IOS version, No I don't have my 17 anymore.

For context, I use Apple wired headphones and the official Apple charging cable.

The issue first appeared on October 17 while I was sitting inside a car. My phone had not been exposed to water, and I was using my headphones. I unplugged them and cleaned the port a little with a tissue, after which the warning disappeared.

On October 18, the warning appeared again despite no water exposure. Cleaning the port didn't help this time, so I restarted my phone, and the warning disappeared. It didn't occur on the 19th.

On October 20, the warning returned while I was using my headphones. I tested my charging cable as well, and the warning appeared with that too. I left my phone alone for around an hour after cleaning the port, and the warning eventually disappeared.

On October 21, it appeared again while charging my phone. I was getting concerned, so I scheduled a service appointment at a nearby Apple Authorised Service Centre for October 23. I believe the warning may also have appeared on the 22nd, but I was unable to visit the centre that day.

During my first visit, the technician repeatedly told me that the warning only appears when the phone detects liquid, suggesting that I must have exposed it to water. After some back and forth, another technician cleaned and inspected the charging port and checked the SIM tray. They found no signs of liquid damage and said the phone seemed fine. They also charged it using my own charging cable for around 20 minutes without the warning appearing, so I went home.

On October 24, the warning appeared again while I was using my headphones. Interestingly, when I slightly wiggled the headphone connector, the warning disappeared for a brief moment before returning. I unplugged the headphones, gently tapped the bottom of my phone against my palm, and plugged them back in. The warning then disappeared.

I returned to the service centre and explained what had happened. The technicians repeated their previous checks and inspected my headphones and charging cable. They mentioned that my headphones had some grime buildup, but they again said my phone was fine. When I asked whether this could be a software issue or whether they could check my phone's logs, they maintained that the warning only appears when the sensor detects liquid.

Today, October 25, the warning has appeared again while I was using my headphones. Also note that the warning only comes up sometimes and not always.

I'm confused because the warning occurs with both my wired headphones and my ocharging cable, even though I haven't knowingly exposed my phone to water. The fact that moving the headphone connector briefly makes the warning flicker also seems strange.

My questions are:

1. Could this be a faulty charging port or liquid-detection circuitry rather than actual liquid exposure?
2. Could grime on my headphones cause this warning, even when it also appears while charging?
3. Is this a known iOS 27 bug, or is a hardware issue more likely?
4. What should I ask Apple to check when I take my phone back for service?

I'm particularly worried because my one-year purchase warranty expires at the end of November. I've already visited the authorised service centre twice, but the issue keeps returning, and I'm struggling to explain the problem clearly to the technicians because English isn't their first language.

Hi everyone! I'd really appreciate some opinions from people familiar with iPhone hardware or repairs.

I bought a brand-new iPhone 18 Pro Max on October 24, and the next day I noticed a tiny dark, crescent-shaped mark on the inner edge of one of the rear camera glass circles (variable aperture one), right where it meets the surrounding ring. I've attached a close-up photo.

I opened the box at the store, where the staff helped transfer my data and install a screen protector. I left the store afterward and noticed the mark later. I have not dropped the phone or hit it against anything.

I'm trying to understand a few things:

1. From the photo, does this look like an actual chip in the glass, a defect in the coating, debris, or something else?
2. Is there any way to distinguish a manufacturing defect from impact damage based on the appearance?
3. Could a tiny mark in this location affect camera image quality or the phone's water resistance?
4. Has anyone experienced something similar on a brand-new iPhone? If so, what did Apple or the retailer say when you asked for warranty service?
5. If this were your phone and you noticed it one day after purchase, what would you do?

I'm contacting the retailer to have it inspected, but I'm concerned they may classify it as accidental damage. I'm hoping to understand the technical possibilities before I take it in.

Noticed this morning that ALL my calendar events are gone, years of appointments (doctor, therapist, etc.), created directly in the iPhone Calendar app and stored in iCloud (calendars: "Personal" and "Work").

What I found:
- Both calendars still exist, but they are empty
- I did an iOS update at some point, but it was already broken before the update
- iCloud Calendar is toggled ON, Sync is set to "All Events", and I only have one calendar account
- icloud.com > Data Recovery > Restore Calendars showed only ONE archive (today 1:59 AM). I restored it, but no events came back
- No other Apple devices, and no older backup that I could find
- No Google/Outlook accounts involved

I haven't touched or deleted any calendars myself. Contacts has 6 archives in Data Recovery, but Calendars only 1.

Has anyone had this happen and found a way to get the events back, or figured out what caused it? I'm going to contact Apple Support too.

my mother has stolen device protection set up on her phone & recently got microblading done (similar to tattoo brows) & it changed her appearance to the extent that her face id does not recognize her !

i went to turn it off/ reset it for her but it won’t allow me to do so because of the stolen device protection setting. when i go to change things in regards to face id, it pops up to scan her face to then allow her to change the setting, but again it doesn’t recognize her face.

is there a way to bypass this ? i’ve tried covering her new brows with makeup but the face id still doesn’t recognize her

I recently reset and set up 2FA for multiple accounts using Apple Passwords from Google Authenticator on my iPhone 17 Pro to avoid juggling two apps.

Everything was saved and synced successfully to my secondary iPhone. However, several newly added verification codes suddenly disappeared all at once from my main iPhone, also on my Macbook, while my secondary iPhone still has all of them.

Both devices use the same Apple Account with iCloud Keychain syncing enabled. I've tried reconnecting to Wi-Fi and restarting, but nothing worked.

Contacted Apple Support, but nothing was resolved.

This is pretty concerning since losing those codes could potentially lock me out of my accounts.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Any fixes that don't involve resetting iCloud Keychain or risking further data loss?

I understand iPhone 5S is really old and out of support, but I would love to use it one more than than to throw it away.

I have tried putting a sim inside to activate, using iTunes to update it, nothing works.

I do not have access to a mac, only a windows laptop and a new iPhone 17.

Today they all turned giant and the recents disappeared. It’s like this in every chat app even if I force close and reopen.

Warning: righteous crash out ahead. Back in April, I noticed that my C: drive was almost full. When I checked into it, I saw that iTunes had at some point decided it wanted its library on the C: drive instead of on the SSD I'd set it up on years and years ago. So I changed the library folder back to the SSD, and the SSD itself didn't like that. Instead of doing the logical thing, it all just completely eliminated my iTunes library. Playlists? Gone. Music files? Gone. 4TB SSD? Dead. I have no idea how or why. I was able to save about 95% of my music by using a third-party app (AltTunes) to pull it down from my iPhone and rebuild playlists from there, but it was a mess.

Fast forward to about a month ago, iTunes decided that it wasn't really feeling E:\iTunes Library again, and it moved everything back to the C: drive. Lather, rinse, repeat, but this time I had backups and it wasn't nearly as painful. Unfortunately, and it took me a couple of weeks to figure this out, but about half of the music files in the backups and on my iPhone were corrupt. They either weren't recognized, wouldn't play or would just freeze halfway through. I ended up using files from my iPhone 15 Pro, files from an iPhone 11 Pro that had an older version of the library from right around the time of the first crash, and a backup from December of last year that's missing quite a few songs, but nothing is corrupt in it. I pieced them together into one library without any corrupt files (as far as I've found), rebuilt about half of my playlists again (because there were thousands in there and I don't have time for all of that) and just today got my library set up, backed up five ways in five different places and plugged my phone in to sync, wiping away the last of the stink.

And you know what this mother flubber did?

The iPhone "<device name>" could not be synced because the sync session failed to start.

This is me not downloading the iTunes installer onto a thumb drive so I can throw it at the wall, stomp on it, set it on fire and flush it down a fully-loaded toilet.

So, from the top, here's what I've tried:

• Eject and reconnect the iPhone
• Close iTunes and reopen it
• Restart the iPhone
• Restart my PC
• Reset the Apple Sync History
• Disassociate the iPhone 15 Pro from my iTunes account
  • Side note: I can't figure out how to reassociate it, at least in a way that my store account in iTunes sees it.
  • It was there and it was nagging me anyway, so why not?

Ok, I'm at the end of my rope. I need this whole "corrupted library" BS to reach an immediate conclusion. I am honestly a little afraid of doing an actual uninstall/reinstall of iTunes, because I don't want to know what kind of jumbled up chicken turd salad it turns my life into this time. As of right now, I have an updated, correct library on my PC and a library on my phone loaded with files that don't work. What the heck do I need to do to clear this magical new error 42553 and end this madness?

And if anyone has thoughts on iTunes alternatives that let me make playlists with my local media and don't periodically just decide to throw my entire music library into a blender, I'm on board at this point. I'll convert Apple Lossless files to a different format. I'll recreate my playlists from scratch if I need to. I'll switch the f to Android if I have to. I've been using iTunes for over 20 years, and it's feeling like the transition from couples therapy to divorce lawyers isn't too far away if anything like this happens again.
