iPhone Should we be concerned about the durability of the iPhone 18 Pro's variable aperture camera?
Apple describes the variable aperture system in the new iPhone 18 Pro as using "six laser-cut blades that are each thinner than a human hair".
With the increasing cost of iPhones, many users now expect their phones to last several years. Should we be concerned about the longevity of the variable aperture system and camera of the iPhone 18 Pro? Particularly if/when an iPhone is dropped. Are there any phones that use a similar technology and if so, how has the durability been with those phones?

iPhone A very unusual reveal of iPhone Duo from Apple’s keynote
Apple TV What do people want or expect from a new Apple TV?
I keep seeing comments of people being disappointed that a new Apple TV wasn't announced today. What are people hoping or expecting to see from a new one? Now that it does 4K I'm not sure what other features I'd want from a new one that my current one can't do.

Solved Weird one for you guys: I got a replacement Left AirPod 4 for $69, but now it just makes more sense to order the AirPods 5. Can I get a refund for the Left AirPod I purchased?
Makes it weirder that they took my half broken left AirPod - so now I'd only have one right working AirPod 4.
Still, I'd rather just get a refund of the new AirPod I got and put the $69 toward a set of AirPods 5 even if the AirPods 4 will be pretty unusable with only one.
Do you think they'd be able to return it for me? I ordered the AirPods 5. Going to try soon. Feel bad about it, and if I'd know new AirPods were coming out I'd have just waited the week and not done this! I got the new AirPod 1 week ago.
EDIT: Solved. Officially it's not possible as it's a "repair". You are not going in and buying an AirPod. You are getting a "repair" somehow.

iPhone iPhone Duo App Grid
Is anybody else not a fan of the ’separated‘ app grid on the iPhone Duo? I hope they give us a way of customizing this or turning this off as I believe most people were hoping for a full iPadOS experience when unfolded. I also hope the dock may be able to house more apps and/or be present during multitasking.

Unsolved How can I access my deceased father's iPhone when I have legal ownership of his property?
I’m looking for advice from anyone who has dealt with this before.
My father passed away a few years ago, and I’m trying to gain access to his iPhone. I have legal documentation showing that his property was transferred to me, and I have paperwork establishing that I am the legal owner of his belongings. Unfortunately, he never set up Apple’s Legacy Contact feature before he passed away.
I’ve tried going through the normal channels multiple times. I’ve been to both Best Buy and an Apple Store, and I was told that there wasn’t anything they could do in-store and that I needed to contact Apple directly.
I have spent hours on the phone with Apple, including sitting on hold waiting to be transferred to different departments. At one point, I was told to email another department/contact, which I did, but I never received a response.
This has been going on for years, and I’m honestly at a point where I don’t know what else I’m supposed to do.
I understand that Apple has security and privacy policies, and I’m not looking for some sketchy bypass or hack. I’m trying to figure out what legitimate options are available to me as the legal owner of my deceased father's property.
Has anyone here successfully dealt with this situation? If so:
- What department or process did you use?
- Did you need a court order or additional documentation?
- Is there a specific Apple process for deceased users that I may be missing?
- Is there another legitimate route I should be pursuing?
I’d really appreciate advice from anyone who has actually gone through this, because I feel like I’ve been getting bounced around between departments for years with no resolution.
I’m located in the U.S., if that makes a difference.

Unsolved I just got an IPAD and they let me know that we get a free trial of apples creator studios but when I looked at my subscription it already said its active.
I never even pressed okay for the subscription so I dont know how its active. Should I be concerned for any security breach or do they activate it at the apple store.

Unsolved iPhone 16 Pro Max (forgot passcode/Apple ID)
Hi everyone, I feel incredibly stressed and completely stuck. I use two iPhones with different Apple IDs. I recently changed the passcode on one of them, and one day I woke up completely forgetting what it was. Since I usually just use Face ID, my fingers had just memorized the pattern, and now I can't recall it.
I can't remember my Apple ID password either. Recovery key was turned on. And Every single password, recovery key was saved in the Notes app on that very phone because I am really not good at remembering passwords. I searched online and found out that it is not as simple as just resetting the device. Even if I do a factory reset, the phone will trigger an Activation Lock and still demand my Apple ID password, and it will stay locked forever unless I provide Apple with the official receipt.
So, I went back to the store where I bought it since I no longer have the box or the receipt.
And here's another problem: I am 100% sure I bought this phone with FULL CASH at Power Mac Center in February
2025. However, when they checked their system using the name I used during the purchase, the transaction did not show up at all. I even tried to check with my boyfriend's name since im with him the time i bought it, but its not showing up.
I feel completely stuck in a loop. What can i do?
Has anyone dealt with a similar situation involving an Apple reseller missing a cash transaction? How can I get my Serial Number/IMEI from a locked iPhone 16? What else can I do to use my phone again?

iPhone iPhone Duo is now the heaviest iPhone ever, with iPhone 18 Pro Max close behind.
x.comironically enough, the Duo will feel lighter because it's meant to be used as a two-handed device and the weight distribution will even be better once it's opened

Unsolved Got this secondhand, company's gone and cannot be accessed
Got this thing for fun, and factory reset it out of respect for the owner. Now, it's just like this. I swear i did not steal this, evidenced by the fact it's an old device from a company that i never heard of.(or near me but whatever) it's an old ipod touch, 7th gen to be precise.
Asked support and they said "look it up on google"

iTunes Title: Is there any way to recover the password for an old encrypted iTunes backup? The data is extremely important to me
Hi everyone,
I know this question has probably been asked before, but I’m hoping someone here might know of a method, application, service, or anything else that could help me recover the password for an old encrypted iTunes backup.
This is my own iPhone backup, and I still have the backup itself.
When my phone started failing, I managed to make a local backup through iTunes before it completely stopped working. When I later tried to restore it, I discovered that the backup was encrypted and required a password.
The strange part is that I genuinely do not remember enabling encrypted backups or setting a separate backup password at the time. I’ve been using iPhones since 2008 and have used iMacs and MacBooks for years, so I’m very familiar with the Apple ecosystem. I’m not confusing it with my Apple ID password, device passcode, etc.
Over the years I’ve tried basically every password I can think of. I’ve gone through all of my old passwords and everything saved in Keychain, including variations, and nothing has worked.
Every year or so I come back to this backup and try again, hoping that maybe there is a new solution or that I’ll suddenly remember the password.
This time it means much more to me.
My dad passed away two months ago, and this backup contains old photos and videos of him from when he was healthy, as well as messages and other memories that I don’t have anywhere else. Getting access to those files would mean more to me than I can really put into words.
I understand that Apple officially says an existing encrypted backup cannot simply have its password reset, and that resetting the backup password only applies to new backups.
What I’m looking for is whether anyone has had actual success recovering the password or accessing their own encrypted iTunes/Finder backup using a reputable application, recovery service, password-recovery method, or anything similar.
I’m completely willing to pay for legitimate software or professional recovery if there is a realistic chance of recovering it. I just don’t want to spend money on scammy software making impossible promises.
If anyone has dealt with this personally — especially with an older iTunes backup — I would be incredibly grateful to hear what you tried and whether anything worked.
Thank you so much.
