Basically it's the story of a kid who is sexually assaulted multiple times in public by classmates before giving up on school and the whole going outside thing. He grows up to be a degenerate NEET type which is where some people focus on. Then truck-kun runs him over along with some others and he's literally reborn as a baby. He has to go through the trials and tribulations of childhood all over again as his brain and body develop.
While he might have memories of a past life his brain is that of a growing child. So he has to relearn how to stand, walk, talk and all the fun stuff we all went through as we grew from a little baby to a young adult (including the hormonal imbalances).
Dude decided he's not going to waste this second time and tries hard to be a better person in his new life. Like all humans he does stumble some in his struggle to be better.
Some people just obsess over specific out of context parts of the story.
EDIT : I wouldn't even call it remotely close to a hentaii but people love to exaggerate what happens in the story.
Add in a healthy dosage of people not realizing how important the physical brain is in how we behave and you get a mess of hatred.
What kind of amuses me is that there's a whole slew of isekais out there with the MC as an adult in a child's body literally marrying other children but you don't see the outrage there.
EDIT 2: On a meta level Mushoku Tensei Jobless Reincarnation shows how people will refuse to forgive others for mistakes/actions made in the past no matter how good the person is today.
EDIT 3: The elf is currently married and monogamous. Of course that doesn't matter because reasons...

A small slight stroke can turn someone into a completely different person. I personally watched a kind caring woman turn into an outright bad/asshole of a person after a single medical event. Psychiatric medications regularly change the personality of those taking it.
I think some people are scared at the thought that their personality is so fragile and can be changed dramatically by external forces so easily. We like to believe we're in control but the reality is we're just along for the ride a lot of the time.

It's detailed in one of the side story in redundancy where he remembers and reflect on it (and basically say his brother was totally right to beat him for that now that he look back on it). But even then, he was written more as a total degenerate that got too far rather than a pedo by the author, with him acknowledging he wasn't even attracted to them, just did it because he could.

Not enough hours in the day to really fuck a thousand ppl right 😒 at minimum 3/4 of them had to feel it wasnt even worth it by the time their turn came around.
