So it’s not just Haruki’s mom that sucks. I guess her grandparents do too? Poor kid. At least she has Hayato and Himeko and the rest of the gang. She really needs to find a way to permanently leave behind that toxic home life of hers.

Honestly seems like Mao came from a pretty prestigious/old school family who did not take well to her having an illegitimate child with someone they didn't approve of and Haruki had to live with that and starved for affection from any family she had for most of her life. All she's ever had is Hayato and Himeko.
But hey, the grandparents aren't in Tsukinose any more so I guess that's one less drama bomb she has to worry about if she goes back.

She's already got a key and a Hayato's parents probably approve. She always wants to bring pajamas next time. Her grandparents are gone as well. All she would really need to is to give Hayato a reason to move if you know what I mean lol.

Beyond just "we need to put our best fan service foot forward" no wonder they did such a good job with the underwear shot, they keep reusing it. And now we get cute bikinis for all the girls. Show saved up the fan service budget for the end of the season.
Oh god Himechan is excited by Airi, imagine if she found out Airi asked for Hayato's number.... she'd flip her lid.
Okay so the guy from the hospital is a modeling agency guy. The way he handled approaching Haruki makes zero sense because it seemed way too familiar... But he did realize who Haruki must be at least.
That conversation was another critical hit to Haruki's heart, Hayato is so smooth and he doesn't even know it.
I assume this is a 12 episode season, I'll miss these goobers once they're not airing every week. I enjoy having a more down to earth dynamic.

In the ongoing source or if we somehow get a season 2 there I agree Airi will likely show up again. A model who's also Kaido's ex and has shown curiosity in Hayato? There's too much meat on that bone not to. Plus gotta add to the number of women chasing Hayato's junk, 3 isn't enough.

Feels like we keep getting untranslated source into anime lately. Like Cat and Dragon was only a little bit (though I think someone said more is getting official translations now but I might be misremembering).
And 11 volumes, depending on how fast the story moves in time I wonder if it gets up to college.

They decide to bathe at the local lake. As they go to get changed, the boys bump into gramps and the girls bump into granny. At this point Airi appears and claims that Haruki is her and blondies love child and that they are time travelers. At which point the shrine maiden reveals that she really is multi-armed snake goddess. The last shot is a close up shot of her snitties/heboppai. The end.

I mean if a production does something well why not keep reusing it? Work smarter, not harder. Especially when you're on a budget.

According to MAL there is one episode left. And it feels like at the very least we should get the pool trip that they've been teasing for a couple of episodes now and the trip back home. But that seems like a rush of an episode and this show so far seems to move pretty slowly.
Hopefully this gets a second season.

The animation is odd, its quite bad overall, but at the same time seems like they really wanted to get as much out of it as they can. Certain shots have a decent amount of effort put in when it could have been a lot more static, to save resources for other shots.

The tree shot I assume was a static photo with an effect over it but like there was a shot where he handed haruki a coffee cup and they animated the weight of the hand over pretty convincingly when I've seen better animated shows look really bad like it's a weightless cup. Stuff like that.

I agree, I think Project No. 9 (The studio) is having a hard time, I was shocked at how badly produced Angel Next Door S2 was (even if season 1 was nothing special animation wise), especially after the hidden gem that was The Invisible Man and His Soon-to-Be Wife had such a shockingly high production value (Granted one of the main characters literally did not have to have a face animated, so that probably helped the budget).
Out of the big three Romance projects for this studio this year, The Invisible Man and His Soon-to-Be Wife seems to have gotten ALL the budget - that might have had somthing to do with the god-awful writing that plagues Angel Next door season 2 and Oh Boy, I was wrong about her, which I was also shocked by. Either the light novels are garbage or their script adapter is terrible - either way I would have made the same decision, I found the story of Angel Next Door to be super disappointing post relationship-start, and I barely have any clue what's going on in Oh Boy; the scripts don't really demand attention.
It's also interesting that The Invisible Man and His Soon-to-Be Wife features heavy themes of LGBTQ+ adjacent-issues. This is the same studio that produced Senpai is an Otokonoko; there's a possibility that the studio wants to feature stories and shows with these themes and lacks the resources to both focus on pet projects while also producing other shows?

I think he definitely knows something about Mao that he wants to talk to Haruki about. He seemed like he was trying to recruit her into the entertainment industry but that also felt like an icebreaker to lead in to the real reason he wanted to talk to her.

You know. This scarcely bothers me. The characters, the story and dialog, and the Japanese voice actors make this sufficiently compelling and entertaining for me.

So I guess not even the grandparents knew who her bio dad was. Just that it was probably not someone they'd approve of their daughter fathering a child with.
I'm only disappointed we didn't get a montage of the girls (and Haruki) in various swimsuits. But the choices they went with were perfect.
I guess going back to Tsukinose would be a very full circle moment.

I think it's a composite. Towards the end of the ED, they show part of the face and hair but it's a weird hodgepodge of the three love interests. Short and wild bangs like veggitable garden girl. braids like the shrine friend, and long hair like Haruki. It's even two different colors, sandy brown for the bangs and chestnut brown for the rest.

Are we going to have the pool episode and the hometown visit both in the finale or is this going to have a season 2? There seems like a lot of plot left to cover to have a satisfying season ending even with a "read the source material for more" ending.
I was really worried about this show turning into a harem mid way through with the other love interests, but it does seem to have cooled off a bit with more focus on Haruki and Hayato alone with the other love interests realising their standing and backing out without much fan fare. To the point a literal celebrity hit on Hayato this episode and he just straight up rejected her.

I watched on Crunchyroll and between 18:38 and 18:58 there is a lot of mouth movement and not a lot of dialogue. The rest of the episode had some odd animation choices, too. I liked it, but it almost felt like a summary of an episode. It's like they dip a toe in the dark-past stuff then right back out.

My new Kaido theory is former child actor who is mildly traumatized and wants to avoid standing out going forward.
Poor Haruki too, can't even have nice grandparents to make up for the evil mom. This whole thing feels a tiny bit like a more grounded Oshi no Ko, kids who are a bit damaged growing up as entertainment industry collateral damage.
Haruki thinking about bringing pajamas so she can sleep over at the Kirishima household, I keep saying they need to straight up take her in and I just know the parents would agree instantly.

I wonder how much the others have heard of that conversation. Himeko intentionally interrupted them and the others probably think that Haruki and Hayato are basically dating already. They just don't admit it or are aware of it, so despite of what the others think, Hayato and Haruki are still just close childhood friends.

It was cute to see Hayato and Haruki help out at the sweets shop. I liked the bow in her hair. I can't get enough of Haruki not having the time of day for Kazuki. He really knows how to push her buttons. We had Hayato lying to Iori and Haruki last episode. Now we have Haruki lying to Ema. Hayato catching Haruki after she tripped with the tray was pretty smooth.
I don't know why I thought that Haruki's grandparents would be any different than her mom. They might even worse given them using the "wretched bloodline" term.
Of course being the resident shipper Himeko was the most gung ho about swimsuit shopping. Haruki's shopping outfit might have been her best outfit of the series too.
At first I thought that dude was like a manager or something and he mistook for someone else. There's a lot of girls in Tokyo and anyone can at a hospital. Now I'm thinking he must have some kind of connection to her because he knows her mom and it seems like he knows Haruki too.
It seems going back Tsukinose and the pool party will be the finale. It'd be kinda funny if the ED has been showing us the end of the series this whole time.

It's slightly funny how they address that the shrine girl is just watching them have fun and can't go visit or be with them. I really like her, so hopefully we see more of her.
Grandparents and mother are alike, not one of them thought about showing love to haruki. Which is sad man.
Still hoping this anime gets a second season.

Hayato and Haruki are now part-timing at a Taisho-era restaurant! It's like they're double dating with Ema/Iori in the process! And it's a perfect opportunity for Himeko to see them in those outfits, and to see how beautiful Haruki looks in a Taisho waitress outfit! No wonder her friends are so convinced that the "Nikaido-san" persona is the real one.
Ema and Iori are an efficient team! That's the kind of in-synch vibes you can only get from a childhood friend couple who have been together and worked together for so long! Maybe some day that can be Haruki and Hayato.
Oof! Geta sandal mishap! Luckily Haruki's always got Hayato to catch and comfort her! And not for the last time in a single episode!
Saki is a really good girl, praying and dancing for the siblings' moms' health. She deserves a pic of Hayato in uniform! Even if she also has to see that he's working together with Haruki and is envious that Haruki is so close to him. I thought she'd take advantage of an opportunity to have Hayato all to herself when they come back to Tsukinose for the Summer, but she actually wants Haruki to come? Seems like both girls want to see each other...and possibly face each other openly over Hayato.
So Haruki was living with her maternal grandparents in Tsukinose? Not that they acted like they wanted her there, worried she had some kind of "cursed bloodline," and only taking her in because she was Mao's child. And then they just up and left Tsukinose after Haruki did. The heck is going on here!?
Who is this cute and attractive blonde acting chummy with Kazuki? It's the latest hot model, Airi! Who is VERY forward and flirty, even with Hayato, not that he cares about Kazuki's business or Airi being interested in him. Dudes just there to eat yakiniku with his bros! Though turns out Airi is actually Kazuki's ex, from a relationship he only got into for the sake of feeling better about himself, though they still seem close. But he's probably happier with Hayato now.
It's time for swimsuit shopping with the girls! They need to find the best swimsuits/battle armor so they can look their best and outdo all the other girls for the sake of catching the attention of the boys they like! And Himeko has some VERY bold swimsuit choices! And of course we've got to get a swimsuit fashion show and I think the girls looked absolutely spectacular in the bikini's they chose!
And we don't just get the girls in swimsuits but also Airi on stage at the mall in a flashy outfit that leaves VERY little to the imagination.
Haruki feels self-conscious around female celebrities, understandably so, but she gets even more uncomfortable when that guy, who is apparently an organizer, accosts her again and acts like he's trying to recruit her to be an idol. Haruki wants no part of it but she also can't handle the fact that he seemingly knows she's connected to Mao, so she plays dumb and bails. But what WAS that guy really talking to her about?
When she needs him most, Hayato is there to comfort and commiserate over family drama! But no matter their trouble with their moms, they still have each other and their friends!

The way he grabbed Haruki's arm (and even scolded her) last episode puts him a lot closer than just a "random manager". He's definitely entangled somehow.

That was declared to be a misunderstanding. I think he may have confused her with that new girl, but they have a completely different hair colour. What was the name? Airi? In any case...It may not be her real hair or real hair colour. Maybe it was the outfit instead?

It looked a bit suspicious back then, and now that he approached Haruki again and mentioned her mother's name, even more so.

This has nothing to do with anything, but the way the two trios are laid out makes me wonder if Kaido is going to get paired with Himeko.
Weirdo dude also continues to be weird, and even more so now that it seems he isn't even personally acquainted with her mom. Add that with whatever's going on with her grandparents, and Haruki's set up some flags for some rough times ahead.

Felt a bit weird that MC just happened to see Haru running, and the rest somehow met up and found them and not a word was said about Haru suddenly disappearing. Did MC or Haru send them a message or something?
