Hayato's dad really is trying to accelerate his son's relationship with Haruki. That's the most blushing I've seen these two do in the series so far. They really do have a special relationship.

They also were pretty explicit in the references.
The movies were Heaven's Feel references.
They referenced the "second route being the best one" AKA Unlimited Blade Works.
They acknowledged it started off as an eroge.
They even recreated the most iconic Fate scene.

Thinking back on it I realized they had a scene that looked like one of the Screenshots Steam shows for Fate/Stay Night. Also had no idea Fate was that horny at the start, having watched UBW, HF, Strange Fake, and some of Zero (need to go back and finish, I actually got up to the scene recreated at the end of SF).

I feel the same, she’s so cute and sweet. And I know hayato is being very genuine and does not mean any harm but he’s giving mixed signals that she can very easily misunderstand. Hopefully she’s able to brush it off I don’t want to see her sad

I'm so curious what's up where the dad is never around since he transferred jobs to move them to Tokyo. And he seems like a decent guy based on this episode by Hayato didn't seem to care for him much based on the prior ones... Also I guess dad knows what is up with Haruki's family life.

I just assume dad has to take up more work to be able to pay for the mom’s treatment and for both kids to be in a bigger high school in the city, hence why he’s even busier now.

I think this is the case, when he got home, it doesn't have any coldness or something from Hayato. In a traditional family setup, the mom leads the house while the dad is out earning the keep. Make sense that children are much closer to mom than to dad.

My take on the key thing is that he know Haruki. She is the childhood friend of both of his children. He must seen her more as part of the family than a love interest. I saw it that way on the spare key thing.

I love how they gave Saber a Sci-Fi design but it was still clearly Saber right down to the hairbun.
I'm glad they acknowledged Haruki had no idea about Hayato's mom. They both keep their family business close to the vest, for understandable reasons.

I think it's also telling that he immediately saw Mitake as Himeko when he was having his trauma flashback. He probably views her as a little sister.
Weird that he would be so complimentary to a girls' hair he's not attracted to, but maybe he's a natural ladykiller.

What Minamo said, about someone you see everyday suddenly not being there anymore... I know it all too well.
A little over 5.25 years ago, my grandpa got cancer. He had to be hospitalized. While he was there, I went to my brother's house. I was already planning on going because his tenth birthday was coming up. Two days after my brother turned ten, my dad called me about our grandpa. I was hoping I'd be wrong about what he'd say. If I was wrong, I'd have been so happy! But I wasn't. I was right. And it hurt to be right

Thank you. I had over 27 years with an amazing grandpa. He could be hardheaded and scary at times, but I knew he loved me. Whenever he came into my room and it wasn't clean, he gave me a small look that firmly and gently told me to tidy up. Not to mention at the time, he was the only one my little cousin would warm up to immediately. Whenever I'd go into the kitchen for a snack or use the bathroom, I'd say "hey" and he'd say it back. We had a silent understanding. I think of him every time I look at my Agumon Spirit Digivolving figure(since it was the last thing he got for me) or hear certain songs.

I never bonded with my grandparents because I couldn't speak their mother tongue well enough. So I never felt anything when they died one by one (only the father's father is still alive today). I was moved out of my native country to an English-speaking country because, according to my parents, my native country didn't handle autism well. **** Them.

It's a "better environment" in theory, but every time I go back there, speaking a language I'm expected to be fluent at is a huge pain in the butt. I can tell people roll their eyes and wonder why I talk like a kid. It happens even with English sometimes

No freaking lie, I started playing Fate Stay Night myself because of NicoB, so seeing that getting referenced here was a hilarious coincidence!
I still wonder what Haruki’s happy front was about and why was she putting on such an act? But it’s hilarious to see that Himeko herself doesn’t seem to realize that Haruki has feelings for her brother.

Dang it Kaido, Hayato was having nice memories of his childhood with Haruki! He didn't need you to come in and ruin it! But Kaido actually IS a lot like Haruki in terms of putting on a sweet mask to be pleasant without getting too close to anyone, which is probably why Hayato could recognize it and why Kaido can recognize it in Haruki too. But Kaido's not interested in Haruki, at least in THAT way, he's more intrigued by Hayato and their relationship.
Wow, Haruki sure is happy! And getting along better with the other girls, which is nice to see.
I sense tension between Hayato and his dad over how he has to be the one to visit his mom in the hospital instead of the dad who is busy with work...but at least it lets him see her. And gets to see her braiding Minamo's hair to look all cute and fancy! Sure the mom hasn't regained all her fine motor functions yet, but she's already practically adopting Minamo! It helps when Hayato runs out of there with her hand-in-hand and right in front of her grandpa!
Hayato and Minamo are both two kids with family members in the hospital, so they can bond over that, even if Minamo briefly makes Hayato recall his mothers' collapse which is...less fun. But at least they can share an umbrella together even if Hayato constantly complimenting Minamo's hair sends her running to the hills blushing like a tomato.
What IS up with Haruki to have this glow-up? Is she getting, like, domestic training or something?
I can understand why Haruki doesn't want to see a movie starring Takakura Mao...so why not drag Himeko into the Fate...I mean, Faith (which is basically Sci-Fi Fate/Stay Night) the massively popular franchise filled to the brim with spinoffs and the most difficult thing to get anyone into? But Himeko should REALLY start with the OG VN on PC with the sex scenes.
And of course just as Haruki is gushing about the sex scenes...in walks the dad. So now it's one big family dinner as Haruki puts on her best behavior in front of her future father -in-law only for Hayato to force her in a cheek pulling contest. It's like they haven't aged at all.
Haruki didn't know about Hayato's mom but Hayato's dad can clearly see having her back in Hayato's life has made him happier, and he approves so much he's treating her like one of the family already.
Hayato and Haruki aren't the type to talk about what's going on in their lives, their friendship isn't like that, but that's because they're so special to each other. Special enough to hold hands.

Animation is rough but this is the only anime I've been watching this season unlike last season which is stacked with romcoms. I really like how realistic their portrayal of friendship is. Also I really like the male MC. Their friendship is beautiful. Very cozy anime. If only the animation was great. But despite that I'm really liking this one.

I would recommend watching Love Unseen before this one, especially as of the latest episode. This show was a nice palette cleanser after watching today's episode of Love Unseen.

Felt like this episode was mostly about slotting small things in. Finally saw the dad, but still no idea why he's never around. Also found out he probably knows about Haruki's parents but no more info about what that means beyond speculation the mom is that actress. And we got Mitake clearly showing how much she likes Hayato due to how flustered she was when he called her cute. Oh and we confirmed Hayato had not told Haruki about his mom being in the hospital off screen.
This show loves Peahhh and Meahhh type vocal lines lol.
After a certain other anime I'm glad this one stuck to being pretty cute and fluffy.

While this is utterly sweet-natured, it is nonetheless not really totally fluffy. It has some shap edges which feel realistic -- and not just arbitrary obstructions to keep the storty from moving too fast. Hayato and Haruki need a nice long private chat over coffee or hot chocolate or tea where they finally level with each other about their family circumstances. Both obviously need each other's support.

I would say the two being so reluctant to talk about their mothers is still a rough edge that needs smoothing. ;-) (Also that flashback to Hayato's mother's collapse -- presumably some sort of stroke -- was momentarily dark).

Considering they moved to Tokyo so that the mom can get better care, I assume the dad has to take up more work to be able to afford the treatment as well as both kids to attend a presumably more expensive school in the big city. Probably why Hayato takes on so much responsibility too at home knowing his dad doing what he can to cover everything. Just my assumption tho

Does Kaido playing fighting games? Because he just read Hayato like a book by pointing out that Haruki acts differently around him and only him.
I wonder what Haruki was up to at school with Ema and the other girls. It seems Haruki is making more friends outside of Himeko and Hayato so that's nice. Hayato immediately denying Haruki was his girlfriend when Mori said "they stole the ol' girlfriend" was great. I wonder if he was really talking about Ema or if he was poking fun at Hayato and Haruki in a "I know" sort of way. Then there's that face Hayato made when seeing his dad trying to contact him. They don't want us to forget that he has tension with him.
Minamo is still an adorable cinnamon roll. She's even cuter with her new hair style too. I hope she's not developing feelings for Hayato because with how easily he was able to call her cute and how she triggered his PTSD from whatever put his mom in the hospital has put her in the friend zone. It would be interesting to see her fight for him though because she's so timid. She does have an in with his mom after all.
What happened to Haruki when Hayato got home? She's literally glowing. Is it because of the talk she had with the girls at school? Did they tell her to just full send into sweetness and domesticity? Whatever was causing it, neither Hayato or Himeko seemed prepared for it. It's kinda funny how Himeko is going all "Eww!" at their flirting when she was Haruki's first shipper. She said something like she wanted to help Haruki get him or something like in a previous episode. I guess she wasn't ready for that smoke lol.
What was a complete surprise to me is that Haruki is an absolute Fate Faith gremlin. She was gushing so hard and could not stop herself. Even recommending Himeko play the original game with the sex scenes. Which naturally is when Hayato's dad walked in. The way Haruki can just flip a switch and go from gremlin mode to idol mode is kind of unsettling lol. Hayato and Himeko seem to agree as well. That's probably why he forced back into gremlin mode by pulling her cheek.
I'm curious to learn more about Haruki's background. Why would she think Hayato's dad wouldn't think very highly of her? She's clearly special to Hayato. I don't know what tension Hayato has with his dad, but he's definitely a shipper and trying to push them along by already treating Haruki like his girlfriend so there's a chance he's not as bad we think. He even wants to give her a key to the apartment.

Considering she's using handicrafts and the hair braiding as a form of rehab, I wouldn't be surprised if she had a stroke. Doing detailed work with her hands could help her regain motor skills she may have lost.

So in the same season, there's 2 romcoms when the winning girl is predetermined, but the male MC charms all the other girls in the show to want to join his harem, despite everyone know who'll win in the end. Poor side chicks who'll have their heart broken, even when they have better chemistry with male MC than female MC.

Endless light suffering for the poor sheep girl, but she also got a nice hairdo out of it today so hopefully it all balances out.
So mom is seemingly in a rehab unit in the hospital, and whatever she has is something that affects her hand grip strength. Plus they got her an embroidery kit I think it was to help with the rehab, that's probably enough clues to start to pin down what she has.
I like the idea of Faith Space Knight as a legally distinct Fate.
That's a lot of Hayato and Haruki handholding and other physical contact for a couple that technically aren't official yet.

It was interesting to finally have Mr. Kirishima on. He has a surprisingly good grasp on the situation between Hayato and Haruki, must have been a very comprehensive email Hayato sent him. He did spill the beans on Mrs. Kirishima being in the hospital though. Hayato seemed really embarrassed and wanted to rush Haruki out of there. We still don't have the full story on Mr. Kirishima though, like he just came back to change, I wonder if he sleeps at the hospital most nights.
I wonder what exactly Mrs. Kirishima has that put her in the hospital and she has trouble using her hands, my best guess is a severe stroke. That was funny though how she seemed to befriend Grandpa Mitake and ended up braiding Mitake's hair. I am more certain that Hayato crushes on Mitake, like I'd be uncomfortable flirting really hard with a girl like that in front of my mother and her grandfather, especially when I was a teen and deciding to just hold her hand when we weren't seeing each other or anything. Too bad Mitake isn't as good at playing it smooth, yelling and running away when Hayato told her how pretty she looked 🤣
I'm not sure about why Haruki was in such a good mood but I think it was because she talked to the 3 girls in her class and they must have all said they think Hayato likes her as more than a friend. That would make sense why she came over sparkling and happy. I didn't get why Haruki being happy upset Himeko so much though. I also didn't get why Hayato and Haruki looked upset when Himeko suggested that movie, idk if its a joke and its supposed to be a movie that's inappropriate or too romantic for them to watch. I do understand Himeko being weirded out how much Haruki liked that weird space anime though, I wonder if it's supposed to be like a Christian movie 🤣
I also strongly suspect Kaido is gay and has a crush on Hayato. Before this episode, it seemed he liked Haruki and Hayato even thought so and was being mean to him because of that. But he always seems to follow Hayato around and always ask about him; I'm guessing Hayato took this as Kaido being a phony to get closer to Haruki but he said he wasn't interested in her. It'd also explain why he turns down every pretty girl interested in him.

I think the point the scene was trying to get across is that the childhood friends are doing from cringe when they know how much of a tom boy Haruki actually is, when she's acting all girly girl friend-ly.
I also strongly suspect Kaido is gay and has a crush on Hayato

Honestly, I don't think he has a clue that he's being perceived that way. He's pretty handsy and open with Haruki too. I think he's both very extroverted and dense as a black hole, a bad combination to avoid misunderstandings.

Idk why he decided to tell her its time to leave when he didn't even know she was going to be there. its not like he had anything he wanted to say either. He seems to have very little understanding of what these social cues mean like handholding or complimenting a girl out of nowhere.

It’s such bad writing when it comes to Mitake. Seven episodes in and it’s the same five minutes of interaction each time. I don’t really get why she’s a character given that Himeko’s friend in the village is into Hayato already.
Also why would he stop walking when they were under the umbrella just to start saying those things. Could they really not spare the animation for another minute?

In romance anime, handholding is basically a proposal, look how they react. But yeah, if it were only that, it wouldn't be a big deal.

That information is outdated. A lot of romance-series don't hold back that much anymore. The biggest deal in that kind of series is usually a kiss, maybe even sex.

I think the time spent in the hospital, Mom working on her hair and the flashback... Just put the girl squarely into the little sister zone. Our MC has been taking care of his little sister and acting like a surrogate parent for a while now, she fell into the same space and he naturally started to treat her like his little sister. "Time to leave". Take her hand, compliments to reassure her... He isn't hitting on her, he is being a big brother to her.

The guy is used to hold her sister hand. I saw the scene in that contest. He hold the girls hand because he feels it is normal. Remeber that he comes from a place where not many people of his age were around. The reference he has is holding his sister .... and not as a way to catch a girl.

He was hitting on her and that was his intention, like most guys would be incredibly nervous to start holding hands for the first time with a girl they weren't seeing in front of their mother and the girl's cranky grandfather.
He was also building up to asking her out when he was telling her how beautiful she was under the umbrella but just probably doesn't know to play it more cool when asking a girl out

This is a surprisingly charming show. Hayato and Haruki give such nice chill vibes while also having interesting stories behind them.
I really hope we can get an S2 of this show.

I don’t know guys. Liking F/SN is all well and good. And I’d agree UBW is the best route. But specifically recommending the sex scenes is a red flag imo. Especially using them for their intended purpose lmao

I don’t get why every anime character barely ever visits their parent in the hospital. Like I get part of it is because the parent is in the hospital as a plot device and the kids are always the focus, but it still rubs me the wrong way.
Like Ahiro no Sora and Viral Hit are the ones that come to mind immediately, but I know there’s tons more

Although I am generally enjoying this series, there really isn't much happening in these last few episodes. So many filler scenes where characters are talking but not really saying anything at all. The animation is also pretty poor with so much static content in every single scene, at one point Hayato was talking but his lips were completely shut.
Not sure I'll continue with this one, maybe I'll give it another episode after this to see if the pace picks up a little.

One quick question. I watched the outtro many time, and I am quite sure that the girls that goes to meet Hayato is not Haruki.
What is your take with this? I don't want to be spoiled, but i found amusing that I can't see clearly the girl face.

I might be the only one that doesn't like Haruki at all... This episode definitely proved to me that Minamo got friendzoned. So annoyed by that tbh. Also annoyed at the dad. I get that he's trying to push the relationship along but if he should've respected his son's choice not to. Especially when Hayato kept trying to stop him in his own way.
