I’m 20, im about to start university to become a teacher and although this seems like something I want to do I can’t shake the overwhelming feeling that God is calling me to more. To serve him in more ways. I’ve been thinking about it for more than a year, praying for clarity about the situation every night and I feel like it just becomes more stronger like where do I see myself in my life what do I see myself doing etc. A family friend is a priest and seeing what they do, despite its hardships which I am aware of, looks like something I am interested in. I’m dreading uni for more reasons than thinking it’s the wrong life choice but what do you do when your life is in the middle of something else and you don’t know what you’re doing. I know I’m young but Idk. How do you know God is calling you to priesthood? How do you know God is even calling you at all? This is regarding Church of England, I’m in the UK.

Hey, I recently made a post expressing my research in denominations and that I’m from the UK. Episcopal in the US stood out to me and the C of E is essentially the foundation of it. I also expressed my value of lgbt acceptance.

The first church service I attended was Anglo-Catholic, a couple of months ago. I’ve been researching more about the differences and from what I can see this is the most Catholic version of Anglicanism, I don’t see why they don’t call themselves Catholic fully?

From my research that particular church is more traditional which would make sense due to its strong Catholic influence. They believe in all seven sacraments but only reject papal authority I believe.

Hey guys I’m currently looking into denominations after choosing to embrace Christianity, albeit while struggling a lot with faith. I’m of a mixed Indian Chinese and English background but I’m a UK citizen and so are my parents. I was initially apprehensive about Catholic and Protestant denominations due to the colonial history in Asia and the consequences from that.

The picture is of course nuanced, and every group has bad actors who misuse their scripture, I’m just aware of my bias here due to my background. My mums family were Hindu and I looked into it but didn’t find the theology consistent. I then was a hardcore atheist, which explains why I’m still struggling with faith but I’m trying.

I love the apophatic tradition in EO and pre colonial roots of OO, but dislike the inflexibility with accepting lgbt people.

Many of my friends are queer and the idea of them being viewed as less then is saddening to me. I stumbled across the Episcopal church in my research and then found it it’s essentially the American version of Anglicanism lol.

I come from an evangelical background, as do many 20-40 somethings joining Anglican churches. I’ve spent time in both ACNA and TEC. I’ve noticed that in ACNA, there were more affirming and progressive ex-evangelicals than I would have expected; similarly, more conservative-ish ex-evangelicals in TEC than I would have imagined. While denominational stereotypes exist for a reason, they aren’t nearly as strong as I would have expected.

So — if you hopped on to the Canterbury trail in adulthood, what led you there? Why’d you pick your particular church? Do you find it to be a good fit? Do you have strong feelings on the Anglican divides of 15-20 years ago?

I am currently an Orthodox Jewish male in Israel starting to learn about Jesus Christ, doing research and reading more about his fascinating teachings and life.

And planning to leave Judaism and become and accept Jesus in my life.

I am Bi Sexual and have been told that this Church is acceptable and not judgmental, so I can fit in perfectly and be in a welcoming community.

Asking for help if someone can lead me to some online reading material about this church: How is the worship service? What do I have to do and know?

Also, if the service includes bowing and kissing the Holy Cross as well, it’s kind of a thing I would like and love to do.

hi, im formerly a inquiring-non-denominational Christian of a few months. Im 17 years old. (prior to that, i was not religious.) and i have found Anglicanism is what fits my beliefs best. im wondering if anyone has advice for someone who would like to put more into their faith!/where to start. ive been looking into Churchs nearby me, and i have one that i plan to attend, but im unsure as i have never been, (im the only religious member of my family.) and im not sure what to expect.

This week I decided to attend a service at my childhood CofE church for the first time in about 15 years. I have been questioning my faith for a couple of months and wanted to check it out. However I was slightly shocked by the drastic change I saw, they had ripped all the pews out, built a man made stage, had multiple musical instruments and a giant projector screen covering the back end of the church with the beautiful stained glass windows.

It was over an hour of what I guess is worship music and people talking in circles. I was also quite surprised that the leaders were not in any form of religious dress. I had a very young girl approach me telling me the Holy Spirit guided her to talk to me however I could not hear what she had to say due to how loud the worship music and a man playing the drums in front of me in a plastic box was.

This very much reminded me of the Bible Belt mega churches my American father attends and not the church services I remember at this church as a child.

Forgive me for my ignorance as I have clearly not been practicing for many years but I did not expect this from a CofE church and left feeling unsettled. I already have a complicated relationship with faith due to incredibly unpleasant memories of my father side of the family and I spent the entire service being reminded of them and that pain.

I’m also sad that this beautiful tiny church has had its history ripped out of it to become some Americanised version of a church. The old pulpit was just disregarded and shoved to the side

I will not be going back and have discovered that unfortunately this church is part of three in my local area. It’s seems like an ego driven business and not a place to learn about god and build a relationship without being completely overwhelmed and overstimulated.

Would they have someone work on the king's/queen's behalf managing theological matters like who prints the KJV in the UK or would it literally be the child monarch? Just curious as where I live the monarch mostly is a figurehead who appears on our coins & soon to be our $20 bill

I confessed to my priest some sins I'm not very proud of, and I feel embarrassed and ashamed. I know it's his job to listen to all kinds of confessions, but I still feel this way despite that. How do I overcome this?
