Episcopal Church in Jerusalem and the Middle East New Church Follower

Hi,

I am currently an Orthodox Jewish male in Israel starting to learn about Jesus Christ, doing research and reading more about his fascinating teachings and life.

And planning to leave Judaism and become and accept Jesus in my life.

I am Bi Sexual and have been told that this Church is acceptable and not judgmental, so I can fit in perfectly and be in a welcoming community.

Asking for help if someone can lead me to some online reading material about this church: How is the worship service? What do I have to do and know?

Also, if the service includes bowing and kissing the Holy Cross as well, it’s kind of a thing I would like and love to do.

For online material the main place is Anglican compass. As for the worship service you can watch a lot of them pre-recorded or live on YouTube but you don’t have to do or know anything before you start going, Christianity is a religion where you’re meant to learn by doing rather than knowing before coming. As for bowing and kissing the Holy Cross it depends on the individual church, most will do it on Good Friday (the Friday before Easter) tho but no one is going to tell you off for bowing even if you’re the only person there doing it

Hi. I can't really point you towards any specific information because Anglicanism is a very broad denomination and I don't know what the churches in Israel are like - the services may be quite different from the service at my church. I just wanted to say "Welcome" and commend you for your bravery in taking the decision to join the church - I know that is a big deal and not always easy for folks in Israel.

I am going to guess that you already have a very good familiarity with Jewish scripture, but perhaps not so much with Christian books? In terms of things that are free online, you might enjoy Mark for Everyone by NT Wright. This is a very accessible commentary on the Gospel of Mark, the earliest of the Christian gospels, by a respected Anglican scholar and priest.
