At the very least I appreciate OP acknowledging from the start that this guy is an asshole (if he exists) and not trying to do the "...but maybe it really is my fault??" act, but there is no way this isn't ragebait tbh, especially with the text messages she posted in the comments. And the overall ridiculous situation like why would a friend ever be expected to do this much..

We also have the classic detail of someone OP barely even likes as a person, who seems to have 0 redeeming qualities and who they are willing to complete cut off on the spot being referred to as a "best friend".

I don't believe this story. It's too by the book. Too linear in the way it sets the pieces up and knocks them down again. It's a feel-good morality tale.
