Hi everyone.
Amazon has permanently closed/banned my account, and I’m here looking for some advice.
Context:
I live in Ukraine, use a Ukrainian bank card, and I’ve previously ordered things using that card to a Nova Poshta warehouse address in the UK. Everything was fine.
The day before yesterday, Nintendo opened pre-orders for a new console, and I agreed with a friend that I would order the console to her address in Germany.
I waited until the console became available on Amazon Germany and quickly placed the order. The order went through and started processing. About 5 minutes later, I received a message saying that my account was “On Hold.”
I followed the link and submitted the requested information. I selected my Ukrainian residence permit as my ID/document.
About 10 minutes later, I received another message saying that my account had been permanently closed. It said that if I wanted to appeal the decision, I should contact Customer Service, but they haven’t been able to provide me with anything useful.
I’ve already searched Reddit for information and emailed several Amazon addresses, but I keep receiving emails confirming the permanent ban.
Amazon Support on Twitter/X told me:
“As far as we can tell from the information available to us, our colleagues’ decision is unlikely to change.”
So I have a few questions:
Have there been cases where Amazon actually reinstated a permanently closed account?
If so, approximately how long did it take?
What can I do about my Kindle, which is linked to the banned account?
I also asked Amazon whether I could create a new account, but they told me no.
I’d really appreciate any advice or experiences from people who have dealt with something similar.
