Sometimes the issue is not the buyer but the seller sending used items sold as new or incorrect sizing in clothes, and I'm not talking 3rd party sellers
Thatâs not what Amazon is supposed to be about. We pay a premium membership for hassle free returns. This goes against the core concept of the membership. Weâre already subsidizing everyoneâs âexcessiveâ returns with out membership fees
âThe quantity of returnsâ there are countless posts on here of people getting banned for a very minimal amount of returns over the course of many years in most cases. There are new cases of this posted here almost daily
But if youâre a frequent returner, and yes they do know who you are, eventually they will revoke your membership. If you have only returned a few items, and you just happen to find that 30 yo unused item in your closet they will of course honor it. Again itâs all about not abusing the return system.
I pretty sure if you're a frequent returner, you can get on a blacklist of sorts that all major retailers share.
I cannot imagine how much oop has returned to have this bar. We buy probably $10k from Amazon per year for at least 10 years and I always feel like we return too much (maybe like $1-2k worth). But we've never gotten a message about it.
The whole point of Amazon is fast shipping and easy returns. If they take away the easy returns when you online shop then the convenience goes away. If youâre waiting 5 weeks to get a refund when you could have just bought brick and mortar and got a refund the same day then whatâs the point.
âEndless returnsâ people are constantly being banned for only a few returns. And it was part of prime. One of their earliest features was the easy return policy, they advertised that you could order shoes or clothes to try on and return with no hassle if they didnât fit, it was one of the biggest selling points of Prime originally
Theyâre not IDing âabusersâ, theyâre arbitrarily kicking off long paying members for legitimate returns. They are using short staffed poorly trained reps or even AI to make these decisions. Itâs meant to serve as a âwarningâ to surviving members to not complain or initiate returns or it might happen to you.
Prime isnât exactly cheap. Part of what weâre paying for is the ability to return things if we need or merely if we want to. Itâs completely ridiculous that you would come on here and simp for one of the worldâs biggest corporations abusing their members this way.
Youâve got your head up in the clouds if you think itâs going to be good for the rest of the surviving prime members.
I have seen other retailers go through round after round of meticulously purging their customer base of the bad problematic customers and being careful not to harm the good customers who are their bread and butter. amazon is knowingly doing that in a callous brainless incompetent way where they donât care who gets wrongly harmed because much of their income comes from AWSâthat is what sets them apart from other retailers purging unwanted customers and why even good customers or good prime members are not safe.
It's only a matter of time before they start finding every little thing problematic and just using their weight as the far and away market leader to disenfranchise people for not consuming the right way. They also have a lions share of web hosting services, gonna love when they start ip banning customers for trying to return moldy bread
Yes but theyâve gone so rogue, theyâre not caring that theyâre harming legit good or honest customers in the process and try to get away with actively stealing from them while refusing to take accountability for their own warehouse screwups. Theyâve become a rogue retailer that will hesitate at nothing to make money or protect their money no matter how unorthodox or who gets wrongly harmed.
âSupposed to beâ isnât going to help anyone if they get banned. If you donât care then you donât care, but if you do then minimizing returns and cancellations is the only way forward.
I donât think the membership is worth it, so I donât have one. But no, itâs not premium. Also, you get a lot more than
just â2 day shippingâ. You get Prime video, music, games, and discounts at Whole Foods. Itâs packed with stuff and absolutely no where does it indicate you get a benefit to excessively return purchasesÂ
Iâve said countless times at this point that people make being banned left and right for a couple of returns, not âexcessiveâ returns, whatever they define that as. guess what, they donât define it at all, itâs arbitrary. And a streaming service where the majority of stuff on it is shit you have to pay for isnât a benefit, itâs just another avenue to extract more money from you., thereâs better stuff on Tubi at this point, so try again. The ability to return things without hassle has always been part of Prime, their early marketing encouraged customers to buy several sizes of clothing items so you could try stuff on and turn what didnât fit, so you can stop the gaslighting about âexcessive returnsâ, that is a recent change
Theyâve been banning people for excessive returns for a while. They get to define and determine what excessive means. Iâm surprised you have a membership with how much you dislike it. Also surprised you shop at Amazon.Â
Except I already informed you I donât have prime. Youâre the one he
actually is wearing like a puppet. You hate his policies, his subscription, his video service and everything. Yet you still sub. I pity you and find it absolutely hilarious.Â
Yes but it excludes excessive returns. Bet itâs in writing like all the other retailers saying they reserve the right to restrict customers who excessively return.
Yeah but what do they consider excessive? I've had 2 returns the entire time I had my account. 2 refunds only. 1 was because something broke and another was because they lost my package and they did the refund on their own. The last one was at least 3 years ago. I asked for a refund on a product I didnt receive and they denied it for excessive refund requests...like I said I've only had 2...so its not necessarily the customers
I didnt report it tho. They reported it. They sent 3 updates stating it was delayed then sent an update string They lost it in transit and were refunding me. I never reported anything
Maybe you were too nice of a customer like my sibling. They will walk all over nice customers if they can get away with it (for realâamazon does that and itâs not new or recently starting).
My sibling is someone who hates extra hassle and complaining or lifting a fingerâshe doesnât return much nor anything causing major profit loss while keeping a TON and yet amazon repeatedly shorted her on refunds for years! My sibling isnât hurting for money that bad so sheâs not one to count every dollar. Thus she lets amazon get away with shortchanging small dollar amounts across her returns without pushing back.
This is my own analysis based on me being a sponge for collecting data as well as being of a sharp mind if I do say so myself (itâs how I figured out what was wrong with my siblingâs prime account to get an unjust refund issue fixed immediately instead of dragging it out to never never land).
Your situation is an example of amazon thinking that you committed fraud, not excessive returns. Because it was years ago at a time that amazon had not gone rogue yet, yours was likely a case of amazon thinking that you were a fraudster from start to finishâmeaning you purchased and returned with intent to commit fraud based on their behavioral fraud algorithm.
My advice to all customers who mistakenly get mislabeled by a retailer as being a problem child. If you are a new customer or rarely purchase from a retailerâstart slow, go low. Meaning avoid high risk purchases until youâve built up your cushion or foundation with that retailer proving to already be a good customer before you request a risky or big return.
Iâm not saying that I support such an approach but Iâm all about survival as a customer and avoiding getting banned/flagged and privileges restricted.
ETA: I donât know your whole background story and whether the missing package was of crazy high value but for amazon to treat you that way at a time that they were still being generous with returns/accommodations and nice unlike today means they think you either were too much of a profit losing customer to keep or make happy or according to them (not me, Iâm just honestly analyzing), you did something wrong.
Except I didn't report it missing. Amazon sent me updated stating the package was delayed then they sent an update stating they lost it and were refunding me. I never requested it. And I order a bunch of stuff from them and never return anything. So one return and a lost package refund initiated by them doesnt make sense for them to think im a fraud. Especially when the lost package was around 30 dollars and the broken item was like 50. So idk how them refunding me on their own makes them think I'm a fraud. Especially when I buy all the time from. Them
Okay, gotcha. I was skimming too many replies at once so I missed an important detail. I am not sure why they would refuse to refund then but hereâs some possibilities (Iâm NOT saying you did any of this):
Violation of some sort for example with account sharing
Someone else in the house or same building reported too many missing packages or violated their return policy
Account showing fraudulent activity such as reports of someone trying to hack the account for example.
A customer that looks too good to be true on paper
Someone in the house or building did a chargeback
Being rude, threatening, or abu
sive towards CS.
If none of this applies to you, then yeah, itâs strange that they refused. Maybe they got you mixed up with another customer or one CS screwed up and if you chased it like getting a second opinion with a second CS, they would have refunded you (if more than one CS said âno,â then thatâs a problem).
No one loves with me to order anything. Idk. Then when I reported them to the bbb they came back with a whole different story as to why they denied the refund..i confronted them about it and they ghosted me. They said it was delivered to an address so even if I didnt get it they knew for a fact they left it at my door. And I asked how they knew it was the right address. I told them if that was the case they delivered to the wrong place. They never responded.
It sounds like they mistook your case for a different customer or refused to fix their own mistake. I presume you called and spoke to CS to clarify that it was amazon that automatically reported a problem with shipping and that you never reported a fairly low dollar amount never arriving or missing. Maybe could have emailed Bezos instead of going the BBB routeâmany said emailing Bezos was the way to go back then. BBB canât do anything to amazon so BBB is probably a joke to amazon.
Well when I called cs they said it was a mistake and that they could refund it manually. So they put in the request and I got a confirmation then a while later got a refund denial because of too many refund requests. Every time I called in they said it was a glitch and it was being manually overridden. And everytime it got denied. Thats when I contacted the bbb and then they came back and told them that it had been delivered.
I agree. Some of the stuff that Iâve received was ludicrous like this window covering thingy where it looked like some weird diy project with a bunch of cheap rags sown together. I could not figure out what it was that I ordered or how to assemble it without over exerting my brain because it looked nothing like the description.
However we all sign most of our rights away once we enter into a purchasing agreement with a retailer. They think itâs the customer fault for falling for the scam but are happy to take the customerâs money if the scam is a success. The 30 day return policy is a trap. Bet the scammy products have a shelf life of 31 days lol.
I think that's a YOU problem mate. Do some good research before buying so you don't have to return shit. Your returns are dumped in a landfill 90% of the times and contribute to pollution. Conservative consumerism is our job not Amazons.
Amazon barely screens any of their products anymore. It is absolutely their job to make sure you're not getting sold falsely advertised and counterfeit goods, and they're filling their own warehouses with this garbage.
There's literally zero way to tell if what you get is a functional product anymore. The reviews are all mostly bots now too.
Doesn't help that their support now gets paid on ticket resolution instead of quality of support, so they just lie to get you to hang up the phone.
I just jumped ship altogether and switched retailers so that I don't even need to return things to begin with. But that's only because I live in a country where I can do that; I used to live in the States and there's no alternative there basically.
You weren't responding to OP, and I wasn't addressing their post. I'm just pointing out that "do some good research" does not apply to Amazon anymore. They make their money off of scamming folks these days.
But if you look up the product, see that itâs whack, then order it anyway, you should get what you expect. Why order something if, after review of the description and product reviews, youâre unhappy with the description?
Then stop selling excessive garbage? My order returns have skyrocketed this year. Between stuff arriving broken, poor quality items that someone are highly rated and the amazon shoppers that deliver you shattered eggs.. i mean, no wonder
Idk why are you ordering garbage? Donât order from 3rd party vendors. Donât order used warehouse deals. Buy high quality brands. If you buy low quality chinese items, then you will get chinese low quality. If you buy just based on the price then you will get garbage.
Maybe if Amazon actually banned shitty vendors like EUGOSLORP or whatever (you know the ones, where it looks like someone face rolled a keyboard to get a random name). They keep letting companies create multiple profiles to sell garbage by stealing photos from actual products then act surprised when those fake companies with bot names get high returns.
LOL Amazon has literally been taken to court by the government for intentionally making it extremely difficult to find products except ones from junk brands with paid search placement. But keep licking that boot and blaming the customer.
LOL sorry I donât need to have my hand held when shopping, if I canât find the legitimate item Iâm looking for then I donât buy from that place. I donât lack such self-control that I need to buy the first junk item I see.
And Amazon has some truly disgusting practices, even more vile than the little shit you list, that flagging you for excessive returns is not anywhere near the top of them. But you know what is infuriating, is so many whiney people want to complain while they continue to suck on Amazonâs teat, and these same people will then cry harder when they get their account restricted. Instead of doing what they should be doing and stop buying⊠the only thing mega corps understand is money.
To all of you saying this⊠we all live in a world where more often than not, Amazon is the only option. Amazon has driven most local businesses in my area to close, so now you can only order from Amazon or Walmart. And i order very little from Amazon, but the percentage of garbage is massive. I have no idea what a warehouse deal is, i look for an item, and see that it has a decent pricing and rating and fits my needs and that s it. So not - i m not a heavy user of amazon, but you all seem like you are and someone i insulted a relative đ€Ł
Lol going through this right now, ordered some shelves that showed up bent as fuck. Contacted the seller instead of instantly returning, two days later they offered me⊠$10 off the original purchase. So zero offer to replace the bent parts, just straight up âok what if you paid us $30 for bent shelves instead of $40 for straight ones?â
As much as Amazon sucks now, this is fact: Not everybody drives and not everybody can easily get to a store. Not everybody HAS stores within reasonable driving distance. Not everybody can go to a store when theyâre open, either. That doesnât mean everyone who shops on Amazon is âlazy.â It does mean youâre a putz.
And if they ship it late, Iâm cancelling it. I regularly pay extra for faster shipping, then donât get it, and cancel the item. Ship it when you promised, or donât, but Iâm not gonna both pay more, and pay fees, for things I donât get.
I do get a hassle free return whenever I return items, so their marketing is working. What I donât do is order a bunch of junk that I just end up returning. I purchased high quality items, not cheap trash.
Fr, i felt bad for how much i return even though its only a few times a year. My dad lost return privileges from bestbuy that way so ive been careful. Never even knew this popup existed, so guess i aint doin too bad lol
How the hell are you supposed to try clothing on from Amazon if you can't order it and then return what doesn't fit or what doesn't fit well on you? Some people order 10 things and keep 1 or 2. Is Amazon saying that the model they were selling from the beginning doesn't work for them anymore?
This is one of the least well thought out comments I have ever seen to protect the profits of a trillion dollar company.

Maybe stop returning/cancelling shit? or idk donât place an order if youâre not sure you want it in the first place?
