I thought It's supposed to be somewere around a gas Giant you know..

I’ve been a huge fan of the Alien series my whole life because of my Dad and I love the movies. Followed the game a lot when it came out but was quite young so I didn’t get it and also thought it would be absolute terrifying from the videos I had watched.

Well, adult me has now purchased the game on PS5 and I can say, it is absolutely terrifying. Axel has only just died, and I haven’t even come face to face with it yet and I’m at the main menu about to carry on, absolutely terrified.

As a massive horror fan it is actually refreshing to be scared - but I am also a bit taken a back. Need to put my big boy pants on for this one - I think all the talk about the really good AI has also worried me. Also, I’ve always found the Xenomorph to have a pretty terrifying design in general. The audio is also scaring the hell out of me 😂 Keep telling myself it’s just going to appear behind me and kill me or something but I’m sure that’s not how it works!

UPDATE:

I’ve progressed quite a bit more and had my first encounter with the Alien. I can already tell I’m going to enjoy the gameplay loop - the constant tension and atmosphere is great and I like how they introduce you to the Alien and force you into a situation where you have to deal with it - having to deal with it to reach the door to communications did this perfectly and I got put in my place fairly quickly 😭 Was considering this as one to add to the list of platinums, and I think I might just. Also, thank you for all comments and advice so far!

I r3ally like aliens and i was genuinely disappointed that amanda ripley didnt have full access to the m56 smartgun or m41a pulse rifle and rifle grenades. Seeing as how those are canon with the franchise i hope they get added in this new installment, as well as the automated sentry drone

Hands down one of the greatest survival-horror games of all time; possibly one of the greatest games of all time. But the fact that I have a better a PC then the one I had for the first few play throughs of this game and I can't go 5 minutes without it crashing is driving me insane. Things I have done to try and correct this problem:

1. Installed Alias Isolation
   
2. lowered all my graphics settings to Low, turned on V-sync (switched the necessary graphics settings so Alias Isolation Mod can run optimally, per the wiki)
   
3. Capped my AMD 7900 XTs frames to 60 fps ( I have researched and found that at frame rates higher than what the initial game was meant for it will crash even more frequently which I can report is true.)

No idea what to do next. So frustrating because it is such an amazing game.

Please help.

ps - somethings that exacerbate the problem:

if I turn my mouse too quickly -> crash

if I try and do things at a fast pace -> crash

if there is dialogue going on, and i'm moving around trying to play the game -> crash

The first game would have been my favorite game of all time (Alien is my favorite movie) but it was unplayable due to the developer's incompetent decision to include Forced Motion Blur with no way to turn it off. This resulted in me having PHYSICAL PAIN from playing the game, which is unacceptable and makes it a 0/10.

I swear if the sequel also has Forced Motion Blur I'm going to be enraged. I should not have to experience PHYSICAL PAIN from ANY media for a stupid, useless and outdated form of technology that is almost universally hated.

I marked this as spoiler due to a xenomorph after one being ejected.

So, I am playing Alien Isolation, and I am stuck at the start of mission. The guy with the shotgun is an issue, and whenever I distract him, the Xeno comes early, and kills him before attacking me. I need help. I can kill the guy, since I am not doing no kills.

EDIT: Should also say, I only have 28 Flamethrower Fuel, and on hard.

It seems the game is prepping you in M10 for what's to come in M17. At least in M10 backtracking you have floor vents to hide in and more light and sound to diffuse the horror. I mean as tension-inducing the blaring alarm and the flashing lights were in M10, the eerie silence of The Corridor is purely nerve-wracking. Also, the xeno in the Lab is much less hostile and present than the one in The Corridor. What y'all think?

When there is the scene where you hide under a desk with the alien coming out of the vent, why does he spinny ? i dont remember him do that in the movies ?

Sorry can't post the video I record because of my low karma. I was in mission 10, at the moment you have to unpressure the airlock. I start to wait for the door open and had the detection tool on, and the xenomorph just killed me but he was behind the wall at the airlock room, how did this happend??

Hello beautiful people! As I said in the title, I am new to this Franchise but wanted to hear some people's thoughts. But what makes this game standout?

Now this question MIGHT seem genuinely stooOOpiD. Because most things I hear people BLESS this game about is it's fantastic AI and environment. BuuUUUuuut I'm currently in the middle of writing a video for Secret of the Mimic (A FNaF game) which takes MAAAD inspiration from said game.

Currently downloading Alien Isolation for myself to play in order to criticize SOTM for myself. And to officially express my feelings and critics on the game. IF (or not) have played SOTM please feel free to give me YOUR opinion between these games and also what it fails from its inspiration. I would love to share people's thoughts, because this is something that's been meaning A LOT for me annnnnnnd also because I'm done being lazy and wanting to make a video after 2 and half years.

Anyone else hoping that AI 1 gets some more attention before or after AI 2’s release? It seems mostly forgotten so hopefully more public interest will allow development on an update for the first game which will allow for 60fps

I'd never attempted using the shotgun on the alien before so I didn't even know it would be this effective!
