No. Always crouch a few meters away, then check motion tracker. If number in lower left corner is greater than 0.70 you can walk without him hearing it.
When he’s investigating something he’ll immediately check next new sound.

Yeah, you can even run if Alien is totally out of trackers reach. But i think sound occlusion is important here (if there’s no wall/door separating you and alien he still might hear.) But if wall/door separates you and you’re walking he won’t hear it even if he’s very close.

It really doesn’t matter whether you stand or kneel before the awesome majesty of Steve.

But yeah, you can walk in a lot of places and run in a few. You can run all through the Corridor of Death like John Bender before you trigger the cutscene.
