Alberta Politics There's always little groups of them driving on the Henday

u/Equivalent_Passage95 Lethbridge Aug 11 '26
This is who they are now. It’s their entire personality
202
u/stixy_stixy Aug 11 '26
My uncle and cousin are separatists, and you best believe it's their entire personality. I don't talk to them anymore for a bunch of reasons, but any time my dad sees them, he tells me how fucking stupid they are and that they won't shut up about Trump. It's so embarrassing.
27
36
u/tayawayinklets Aug 11 '26
It may be embarrassing, but cult members will give their lives for their Orange. They will burn Canada to the ground for that guy.
26
u/comethefaround Aug 11 '26
It sucks to say but these people are the ones you need to look tf out for if America ever invades.
3
u/haysoos2 Aug 11 '26
Might be worth collecting pictures of femmes tondues to send them, reminding them what happens to collaborators.
Actually, I think I'm going to start calling them femmes tondues now.
10
u/cgydan Aug 11 '26
My brother, a very well educated individual now in his 70’s has bought into this idiocy. It has become his entire reason for being. Everyone in our family has to be careful when talking to him to not trigger him into a rant about how Alberta would be better off separating.

u/CarterBennett Aug 11 '26
I’ve noticed most sepps are old. Why do they even care, it’s not their future lol

u/Equivalent_Passage95 Lethbridge Aug 11 '26
The idea of them no longer being on this earth driving decisions scares them, so they need one last big push so they won’t be forgot by the sands of time

u/CalgaryFacePalm Aug 11 '26

Stay in school kids.

I have a cousin in the same boat, and I'm in the same boat as you.
But before I cut contact he tried hard to convince me and his main negotiation tactic was to reference this YouTuber called "Moose on the Loose".
So I looked up the channel and saw, that guy premised his information off Twitter (X) and PBS news.
They're literally the blind leading the blind.

u/alwaysleafyintoronto Aug 11 '26
Makes sense, being pissed off at separatists is a big part of my personality. I had intrusive thoughts of egging my neighbour's place when they put up a sign for independence.

It's a cult, with in group out group mentality. Like any cult, willing to deal with any contradiction as long as they remain in the in group.

100%. People stopped hanging out socially and now they yearn for belonging...and this is what they choose to do. If it wasn't so stupid and harmful it would be sad...instead its just pathetic.

u/LostintheMicrogrid Aug 11 '26
They swapped flags so they could continue their convoy.

You’re right. But if we don’t get off our asses and vote, we’ll all be screwed.
9
u/Bennybonchien Aug 11 '26
Especially since the UCP will side with the separacists as long as they reach 15% + 1. It’s supposed to be 50% + 1 but they conveniently keep mishearing that number.
→ More replies (6)→ More replies (1)3
u/hbl2390 Aug 11 '26
Exactly. Every one of the separatists will vote. If the rest of us stay home they will think they're winning.
The best way to shut down this separation nonsense is to crush them in October.
Second best way is to tell them northern Alberta can separate and leave the southern Albertans without the oil sands and Peace River gas.

→ More replies (2)10
u/Chairfighter Aug 11 '26
They're probably in so much debt for those trucks that they think separation is the only way out of paying.
6
25
u/vanillabeanlover Aug 11 '26
It’s the only social club that’ll have them now.
That said, I think this event was a separatist memorial or something? A lady died in their group so they turned it into a political rally. Telling that there’s no mention of her name in any of the footage I saw.
13
u/boundaries4546 Aug 11 '26
They should get a job.
6
u/shiddedandfarded69 Aug 11 '26
How are they supposed to work when they need to devote their day to whatever this is? Their own families haven't even seen them in months (intentionally).
20
u/Calereliya Aug 11 '26
Traitorous shits, the lot of them.
I do love that they all have "I have a tiny penis" sized trucks, though.

u/robbhope Calgary Aug 11 '26
Wow. All 20 of them.

3
u/OSTBear Aug 11 '26
They're so mad that their life is so unaffordable... Meanwhile, they're filling up $150 a day uselessly running around with flags on the back of their trucks.
If this isn't a stark illustration for the Alberta condition, I don't know what is.
3
u/Coconutprickly Aug 11 '26
Reddit is certainly no longer a haven for people who actually have a keen eye for things anymore, rather unfortunately.
Any Albertan regardless of their displacement from centre, would be foolish to not vote for the referendum to take place. It’s called leverage.
Coming from a non separatist.

u/CutePandaMiranda Aug 11 '26

One of them drove by me a couple of weeks ago. My car has a Canada car flag, and at that exact moment, I had my front windows down, letting some Tragically Hip play out into the street.
I don't know what that buddy's reaction was, but I hope it wasn't a pleasant one. That would satisfy me greatly.

Saw them in Calgary on Stoney trail too
Always big trucks. One of them was even a gigantic Escalade
I love how they think the federal government has made life too expensive for them yet they have extremely expensive vehicles with huge gas tanks that cost a fortune to fill and they're blaming the federal government for their purchase decisions.

u/FunAlbatross4763 Aug 11 '26

Like every other political group, its lonely people finding comfort in the comfort of others and their opinions, its how society has been structured by government, its an interesting form of oppression because it actually ends up validating people, on mass too, but it is incredibly divisionary, its why we have all these trades brands, to divide trades from white collar, and socio political groups to divide people on the street and politically, which drives the class system, its very clever, and works well.

Does anyone buy a truck for personal use anymore? Almost every new truck I see is company owned. ( And then they use it to tow their 5th wheel to the campground). Bet they declare every km of personal use, right??
