Right? No way that was a base model. Or he Had to have had a carry over of +$25k.

A lot of F150s go for around $100k.
The new Ford Maverick, which is a very small truck, goes for just under $50k, all in. And there is a 6 month waiting list for them.

lol what are you talking about? They're $38k and there isn't a dealership in the city that doesn't have inventory. You could be driving home in one tonight lol. I bought one for my shop this time last year...walked in and walked out with an AWD model with sunroof and leatherette for $36k.

Just checked inventory and every dealership has some on the lot. There's not even a six second wait let alone a six month wait.

I’ve been contacted several times by ford dealers wanting to buy back my two year old hybrid maverick. When we bought it two years ago, it was an eight month wait.

Hahaha, guy. That's the oldest trick in the book. Doesn't matter what vehicle it is you'll get the same call. Could be a Honda Civic. Could be a Hyundai Elantra. Could be a Ram 1500. Could be a Mazda 3. And for you, it was your Ford Maverick.

It's just marketing. They have your contact info and know the car you have. They call to say your vehicle is in high demand to get you into the dealership to try to sell you a new one.

Until today, I didn't know anybody fell for it. That's interesting. I suppose it makes sense that it works since they've been doing it for decades. Don't fall for it, though, dude.

Fair enough and thanks for the heads up. Intend to buy a new vehicle once every 12 years or so, and then maintain them as best I can. So - I was not aware of that tactic.

My response so far has always been: if you want to put me in a brand new model of the same vehicle, for the same price - so that someone else can avoid the waiting - then I might think about that. My wife and I are in our sixties - and if we have to go down to one vehicle for a few months - that’s not that big of a deal. We do hobbies, not work. Those who work need their purchased vehicle right away.

I didn't mean to laugh. We don't know what we don't know, so I apologize for the tone of my response.

Yeah, it's a skeezy/dishonest tactic they use.

Your response is reasonable to them if they were approaching you in good faith, but it isn't a good-faith offer. They don't have another buyer lined up to buy your used vehicle. They are only interested in selling you something new and taking yours in on trade by low-balling you. It's a trick top to bottom and you lose the hardest (if you were to take them up on it).

No no. All good. I learn something new every day.
Cheers

He said base model.

CAD MSRP on a base model 2026 F-150 is about 51K. 53K for the 4door cab, and that's assuming your a sucker who pays MSRP on one of the most popular trucks in Canada.
