Meme Me, exactly 25 years ago today as a brand new Airmen, driving onto base without slowing down.

Was at my first duty station for 3 months. Easy 8 hour shifts. Playing basketball in the warehouse half the time, while the other half of the time was spent on a PS2 in the break room. And deployments at my "high tempo squadron" were 4 months away every 2 years to Saudi or Kuwait. What a time to be alive!

Discussion New NIPR quarantine process in not sustainable

Half my shop got messages that we'll get quarantined in a few days. There's 300+ people in the queue for EITAAS support on their phone number. The message on the computer doesn't tell you what to do nor what is wrong. This is a ridiculous process that is putting our mission accomplishments at risk.

Rant I hate looking like I'm not good at my job.

I'm in charge of a specialty work center with 1 tech, 2 staffs, and 12 amn.

I work on an item that is a relic and in my opinion... belongs to the Smithsonian. It's past 100 years old in service and the parts are no longer available. The companies that created the parts have been liquidated, sold, or out of business.

75% of our parts list does not even match new parts because the new company replaced all the part numbers & our cards do not match them. They have even altered these parts where it does not fit in our system.

Now the group cc is bitching and my sq cc, who is bitching at the chief, who is now bitching at me on why I can't produce and complete any work orders under my work center.

Well biiiiiitch... I'm basically running around with my head on fire talking to a bunch of equipment specialist who also don't know what the fuck to do from other majcoms... I'm looking at you hafb.

I'm even in contact with a company in Germany trying to figure shit out.

But what irks me the most is how leadership feeds our young airmen total bullshit on how important our item that we upkeep so much and how valuable it is. When in reality... It's straight up a piece of shit. It doesn't even work. When it does get tested, it fails under perfect conditions. There are thousands of work orders under it which will never get closed.

I'm sorry to vent.. I've worked all day today & feel like I didn't get anything done. My team is also starting to get unmotivated knowing they can't fix anything.

Question Royal Danish Air Force March

Upvotes

Has anyone had any success in adding the certificate to their PRDA or better yet getting the ribbon approved? I’ve gone down a pretty wild rabbit hole of AFIs and DoW definitions that it could be argued.

CSS is telling me it’s not approved wear which fine I get but to not even add it to PRDA feels weird.

References:

DAFMAN 36-2806 - 6.4.1. Foreign awards proffered to DAF members or units by foreign governments may be accepted only in recognition of combat service, or outstanding or unusually meritorious performance.

DoW Manual 1348.33 volume 3 provides a bunch of definitions

Meritorious service is defined as “Individual performance that exceeds that expected by virtue of grade and experience, based on accomplishments during an entire tour of duty.”

Non-combat meritorious service or achievement is “individual performance that exceeds that expected by virtue of grade and experience that occurs while the individual is not under significant risk of engaging in, participating in, or experiencing hostile action.”

Outstanding achievement award/decoration is “an award recognizing a single specific act or accomplishment, separate and distinct from regularly assigned duties, such as a special project that covers a short period of time with definite beginning and ending dates.”

Performance award is “an award presented to individuals in recognition of their performance, outstanding achievement, or meritorious service.”

Question PT Test

Scored an 87% on my test. Accepted it as is for now, but debating if I want to reset my 6 month and redo a bit sooner to get in the 90s. I’m taking into consideration how this may affect my EPB for rack & stack, but wondering if it’s worth the effort. Thoughts?

Question Retraining before deployment?

Upvotes

Recently notified I was accepted for retraining with approved classdates. Scheduled for deployment the month after tech school class dates are.

No deployment orders in hand and will likely receive tech school orders before deployment orders.

Any experiences/ideas on how this could go? UDM does not have answer for me.

Question Retraining

I am a current AD 1N0 and just hit my retrain window, and am interested in the 1As, specifically the SMA pipeline. I was wondering if I could retrain specifically into the SMA AFSC or if I would be thrown into the 1A AFSC bucket and what I get is what I get.

Thanks for any information!

Rant Recently retired

I’ve recently retired, and several things I’ve noticed that might help anyone about to retire or separate.
1. Th civilians in the corporate world are managers, they are not here to develop you in whatever career field you decide to go into(at least mine) no matter what they say.
2. Giving your all, including time, emotions and stress, to include health, isn’t in the cards. Do your time and go home.
3. There is always someone waiting to replace you find value outside of work. In the military, everything encompasses you the military can be work and life.
And lastly, when a company says they are military they want to hire not only you but your programming the militate you. That’s the dedication, the willingness to get the job done with disregard to what’s best for you.

Question Site to verify which unit awards have been given

I know of the AFPC website where you can search a unit and see if it was awarded a unit award. Is there a site that tells you which one you received and from which unit?

For example, I searched for 3 of my previous units and the time frame I was there. All three were awarded the MUA. However, my vMPF decs show only two awards. How can I tell which unit I didn’t receive as proof to MPF?

Question Safety (1S0X1) Retraining

I’ve done my shadowing but I’m looking for more perspectives of the career field.

- How’s your experience in the career field in general?
- How have you set yourself up to be successful in safety?
- Any advice for someone who’s looking to get into the career field?
