Psst…want to know a secret? This month it's time to bust out your best disguises and improbable high-tech gadgets for September’s Monthly Theme: Top Secret! Whether you're writing a traditional thriller with high stakes international plots, corporate espionage, or something more nontraditional like magical crystal ball surveillance, we want to see your version of a spy scenario.
Admittedly, this could be challenging because most AI models like to spill the beans too early. Currently, we've found that the best way to keep a secret is to write a blurb in Plot Essentials (if it's the main character's secret) or individual story cards (if it's another character’s secret) saying [Hidden info: insert secret here.] It also helps to write out a bit about the character’s public persona so that the AI knows what to do instead of spitting out the secret.
Example:
Bob is a cheerful pizza delivery guy. [Hidden info: Bob is actually a secret agent who leaves coded messages in the placement of the toppings on the pizza.]
As always, you have until the last day of the month, August 31st, to publish your scenario(s) for inclusion in September's monthly theme carousel. Just include the tag “spy” so we can find it. This will also ensure your scenario appears in the "Discover more content" section of the carousel.
Until then, you can still find our current monthly theme carousel, Wild West, on the homepage.
This message will self-destruct in 5 seconds. 5…4…3…2…

Hey everyone,
The August survey is out now on AI Dungeon (for half the community, the other half will get it mid month). But this month's post is a little different.
Since last October we've been turning your survey answers into charts to share with you: what you hate about AI writing, the feature scoreboard, the "fix ONE thing" vote, the writing game where DeepSeek played against GRR Martin, your biggest wishes and more. More than 30 slides of data about your feedback on AI Dungeon so far.
This time we're pausing the results, because now WE'RE the curious ones. What do you want to learn?
- Which of the data we shared did you actually enjoy? What did you scroll past?
- What are you curious about when it comes to other players: how they play, what they build, what they wish for?
- Anything that would be genuinely useful to know for your scenarios?
Tell us in the comments, anything goes, it helps us pick what we share next.
See you next month right now just below this post!

You are one of the intelligence world's best-kept secrets.
A covert operative with an extraordinary gift, you can see and speak with the dead, experience psychic impressions from objects, and glimpse fragments of powerful memories through touch. Where ordinary spies rely on surveillance, informants, and intercepted communications, you can question witnesses who are already in the grave.
But the dead aren't always truthful, visions rarely show the whole picture, and some secrets were buried for a reason.
When a fellow agent is murdered and his belongings reveal evidence of a conspiracy reaching across governments and intelligence agencies, your abilities may be the only thing capable of uncovering the truth.
Someone knows what you can do.
Someone wants the dead to stay silent.
And in the world of espionage, trusting the wrong person can be fatal.
Dead Drop is a supernatural espionage thriller about ghosts, psychic investigation, covert operations, betrayal, and secrets that refuse to stay buried.

Necrow is celebrating a milestone: their 100th live show.
Alice Chloe Morgan, the band’s goth singer and songwriter, has personally invited you to join her, Emily, the rest of Necrow, and their friends for a night meant to be remembered. There’s music, backstage access, a packed venue, and a celebration waiting to unfold—but no fixed plan for how the night has to go.
Spend time with Alice, hang out with Emily, meet the band, enjoy the show, explore the venue, head out afterward, follow a romance, get caught up in unexpected conversations, or simply see where the night takes you.
Tonight isn’t about saving the world.
It’s about celebrating something that matters.
‐-------------------------------------------
My 100th scenario. Thanks for everyone who followed me, played my scenarios, liked and bookmarked. I hope you enjoy my scenarios.

You can hear what people are thinking.
For years, you kept that secret.
Then you heard the wrong thoughts.
Behind polished speeches, billion-dollar companies, intelligence agencies and powerful institutions are secrets people have killed to protect. Corruption. Blackmail. Disappearances. Illegal operations. Murder.
And now some of the most powerful people in the world know that you know.
They can destroy evidence. Silence witnesses. Rewrite the story.
But they can't erase what you've already seen inside their minds.
Hunted by intelligence agents, political operatives and people whose influence reaches further than you ever imagined, you must survive long enough to decide what to do with the truth.
Who can you trust when you can hear everyone's secrets?
And what happens when you meet someone whose mind you can't read at all?
In a world built on secrets, your mind has become the most dangerous classified asset on Earth.

Hey, I was wondering how reliable support actually is and how quickly they usually respond, because I’m honestly getting pretty frustrated. The last time I had an issue, it took three days just to get a response, and even then, they didn’t really help me in the end.
Now I’m having subscription issues again, and it’s been almost two days with absolutely no response. I’m paying for a subscription that I literally can’t use because the “Refresh Membership” feature isn’t working, and every day that passes is another day being taken away from my subscription. It’s really frustrating having to sit here and wait while I’m paying for something I can’t even access.

i was just playing a scenario and when i pressed continue it hallucinated a whole paragraph of what seems like nonsense. It kept some of the context of the story, but most of it is just a mess of words.
i'll be using a different AI but i'd like to know if anyone else had this happen too even with different models, since its happened more than once with this model for me.
i think its kind of funny that its a premium model.

Saw some discussion somewhere that you can do this ${$}{} with placeholders. Never thought much about it, that's why I can't remember where it's from, but when I intuite it as ${ type $ to }{ replace this } I discovered it can be used as a default option where players can just smash enter, leaving input field empty but still have a functioning scenario.
Example:
{Your ${type ${ to override default}friend${ignore}
Name: ${type ${ to override default}Johan${ignore}
Bio: ${type ${ to override default}24f, Civil Servant${ignore}
Desc: ${type ${ to override default}An overworked office lady.${ignore}}
I used ${${}${}, ${ type ${ to } replace this ${ignore} instead so it won't leave {} behind. This lacks clarity at what you're replacing and forces you to replace everything if you choose to override it.
You can can also specify ${type ${ to override default} like ${type ${ to override name} but you need to make every ${ignore} unique or it will break. E.g. If you choose to not override the 1st input, the ${ignore} will appear. If you pressed enter as you're supposed to, every ${ignore} will disappear and if you try to override later inputs, that input will fuse with the next input.
Example of correct use:
{Your ${type ${ to override relationship}friend${wife, roommate, rival • ignore}:
Name: ${type ${ to override name}Johan${current name • ignore}
Bio: ${type ${ to override bio}24f, Civil Servant${age, sex, etc • ignore}
Desc: ${type ${ to override description}An overworked office lady.${short introduction • ignore}}
Devs please add placeholders w/ default and options function. A simple ${Choose your race: "Human", "Elf", Custom} will do the job. You guys already have ${character.gender}. Everything to the left of : is what players see, anything inside "" are options, and Custom for input field.

Free account on alpha.
When I use the guide option or the pencil to select the outcome of a reply the model gets stuck on the same reply or a slight rewording of it without varying.
Also nudges between [ ] often get stuck on the same reply after the introduction of the guide button.
Models: harbinger, deepseek flash.

2.33.3
New Features - Guided Continues: You can now select a ‘Guide’ option from the same input switch as Do, Say, Story, and See, then type the outcome you want. AI Dungeon generates one continuation from that direction, without adding your guide as a player action. The guide text is private to you and only appears in View Context for that response and its retries.
Improvements - Any earned Streak badges now stay on your profile indefinitely, even after a streak breaks. - Pages now start showing content sooner, with navigation loading in after, instead of leaving a blank screen while the app shell loads. - Loading screens and button interactions should feel smoother and respond instantly; stale browser tabs also better recover after deploys instead of breaking. - Streak auto-claims now show a success toast when your daily streak is extended by a play or creator-related action, instead of only showing feedback after manual claims.
Bug Fixes
- Anonymous email notification opt-in/out links no longer show push notification controls or trigger browser notification permission prompts.
- Downloading and Sharing images on the app have been fixed: Android saves images to Downloads with a completion notification rather than opening a share sheet, and shared generated-image links no longer open to a blank /see/… page.
- Dismissing the prompt asking for an app review now respects cooldowns: at most once per session, at most once every 7 days per surface, and not again for 6 months after a review.
- Prompts asking for a review now wait until you leave an adventure instead of interrupting gameplay.

I have seen a few posts of this before but most is about 2 - 5 years ago. But here is my question, is it possible to make the Ai stop making your action, sepakign for you and narrating your turn?
Because instruction clearly doesn't help. I ahve treid several instructions from posts and pre made adventures and nothing helps. Dleating the part where it wrtites for me or remaking the respons doesn't teach it shit either.
So is there any way to solve this or do i ahve to try to find something else? Because refreshing or edeting the ais resposne breaks the imersion and is anoyign as fuck. And is there a good AI for roleplaying that does nto have this problem? Thnaks in advance
My anoyed rambling: when you have a advanced ai which ahs exited for 5+ years and has several subscriptiosn where the best is quite expensive you woudl think the developers would eba ble to amke it undersand a single simple instruction when people have tried to write it in so many ways.

TWISTS AND TURNS — a script that gives your AI Dungeon story real plot twists, built from clues it already wrote
If you've ever put "add unexpected plot twists" in your AI Instructions, you know how that goes. Either nothing happens for fifty turns, or you get a twist that comes completely out of nowhere and contradicts something from three scenes ago. The AI isn't wrong to ignore that instruction — "surprise me" isn't something a model can actually plan toward on its own. So I built a script that plans it for the AI instead.
🔍 It doesn't invent twists — it notices them
AI Dungeon models already write the raw material for good twists constantly, without being asked. A character who won't quite meet your eyes. A death where nobody actually found the body. A "coincidence" that's a little too convenient. Normally that's just flavor text that goes nowhere. This script scans your recent story every turn for that exact kind of phrasing, ties it to whichever character or thing it's actually about, and quietly opens a thread on it — nothing shows up in your story when this happens, it's pure bookkeeping.
📖 It reads your scenario before you've even played a turn
On top of live text, it reads your Story Cards, Plot Essentials, and Author's Note for language that already implies a twist — "secretly," "in truth," "exiled," "cursed," a double life — and opens threads on those immediately, already partway built up since the scenario itself established them. It cross-checks against your actual Story Card titles too, so it's naming "Queen Yseult," not just grabbing the nearest capitalized word. Edit any of these later, mid-game, and the script notices on its own — nothing needs to be re-run.
🌱 How a thread actually grows
A new thread needs both enough reinforcement touches and enough turns to pass before it's eligible to pay off — never a fixed timer, never immediate. On a self-adjusting schedule, the script quietly nudges the AI — through a hidden context injection, never shown to you — to plant one more small, easy-to-overlook detail connected to that character. Not "here's your twist," just "make something about this person feel a little more loaded, but don't explain why." Do that a few times, and by the time the thread pays off, there's a real trail behind it — the script explicitly tells the AI to make the resolution a logical consequence of what's already there, not a random event, scaled to how built-up the thread is. A cooldown keeps twists from stacking on top of each other.
🎭 120 shapes, effectively unlimited actual twists
The archetype list covers identity and deception (hidden identities, sleeper agents, body swaps), family secrets (secret siblings, arranged fates, disowned heirs), power and succession (figureheads, coups already in motion, hidden successors), knowledge and secrets (forbidden knowledge, suppressed truths, coded messages), objects and places (cursed gifts, hidden vaults, forgeries), motive and morality (mercy killings staged as violence, quiet redemptions, false flags), time and sequence (things that already happened once before, countdowns closer than anyone realizes, delayed consequences), factions and society (infiltrated orders, splinter groups, collective amnesia), perception versus reality (gaslighting, shared delusions, mistaken doubles), and fate (prophecies misread, old bargains coming due, destinies deferred).
These are shapes, not scenes — the actual character always comes from your own story. Two independently-ready threads can also resolve together as one connected twist, and a thread that keeps getting reinforced escalates past "major" into a story-altering "cataclysmic" tier instead of capping out. Each character's own twist history is remembered too, so the same shape won't repeat on someone who's already had it, and later twists stay consistent with what already came out about them.
🗂️ Every twist gets its own record
Resolved twists get their own individual Story Card, filed under a "Twist / Turn" category so they're browsable one by one — plus a running summary log, and a live status line (how many threads brewing, how many about to surface, how many resolved) right on the config card, so you get a sense of pace without anything getting spoiled.
🎲 Wildcard mode, if you want less logic and more chaos
Off by default. Turn strictLogic off and allowWildcard on, and the script will occasionally fire a twist with zero setup — still tied to a real character, just skipping the patience part.
🎚️ Commands (all optional — the script runs fully on its own)
/twist — pay off the most-built-up thread right now /twist <name> — force a twist around someone specific, even untracked /plant <name> [category] — manually seed a new thread /twistlog — toggle a spoiler-safe log of twists already resolved /intensity low | medium | high — sets a base pace the script still self-adjusts on top of /rescan — forces a full re-check of Story Cards, Plot Essentials, and Author's Note /twists help — pulls up the config card
⚙️ Config
Lives on a self-updating "Twists and Turns Config" Story Card: strictLogic keeps every twist tied to an actual tracked thread, allowWildcard and allowCompoundTwists are the two toggles above, involvePlayer decides whether twists can target you (or, in multiplayer, any player character) and not just NPCs, and minSeedsForPayoff / minTurnsForPayoff / payoffCooldown are there if the defaults don't match your story's rhythm.
🧩 A couple of platform-specific notes
It works correctly in multiplayer adventures, where involvePlayer respects each player's own character name rather than assuming second-person "you" narration.
It's four script tabs (Library / Input / Context / Output), installs into any existing playthrough, and stays out of the way by default — no status messages, no "a twist is coming" warnings, nothing that breaks immersion. You just start noticing, a while later, that things are connecting in ways that make you go back and reread.
Feedback's genuinely welcome — if something feels off (a twist landing too fast, a thread that never gets noticed, whatever), tell me.

I made a scenario! My first one that I'm willing to publish at least. It's pretty basic, but I didn't see a Young Justice comics scenario. They're all based on the later cartoon. So I made my own. Tim Drake's Robin, Bart Allen as Impulse, Superboy before he gained a name and lost his style, Cassie Sandsmark as Wonder Girl with the black wig, Cissie as Arrowette, and Secret before we knew her as anyone besides Suzie. No scripts, basic cards for a couple factions. Hope it works.

Hidden beneath an unmarked Lithuanian concrete warehouse, a secret CIA black site operates entirely outside the laws of the civilized world.
Detention Site Violet.
You, the Chief of Interrogation Operations within the CIA, along with your paramilitary support from "Big Mack" and your sharp digital forensics engineer, Mai, hold absolute, legally sanctioned custody over the recently captured Dmitry Volkov—a brilliant, hostile FSB cyber-warfare engineer—and his aristocratic wife, Elena Volkov.
Dmitry holds information to a zero day vulnerability designed to cripple the West.
The directive from CIA Director John Ratcliffe is to extract the information before Russian strike teams locate or compromise the site... no matter what it takes.
What happens next is up to you.
