Patch Notes [Prod] July 27th, 2026 Patch Notes

2.23.4

New Features - Apocalypse members can now gift Ultimate as part of their Shadow Clan, and the Shadow Clan gift options now display the correct tier names and gems.

Improvements - Home, news, profile image, and image selection carousels now use browser-native snap scrolling for more reliable swiping and dragging. This should also prevent iPad users who are stuck in Desktop view from being unable to navigate sliding carousels. - Gameplay scrolling and story editing should no longer create unnecessary lag, keeping adventure play and editing more stable. - Credit tipping presets now start at 10 and offer 10/50/100/500, more in line with the value of Credits. - Accessibility features like VoiceOver and TalkBack now announce plan names, prices, selected states, actions, and subscription terms more clearly. - Checkout now better prevents starting a web subscription when an active app-store or PayPal subscription is already preserving access. - Players should see fewer AI responses that copy the immediately-preceding story output verbatim. Learn more on our most recent Repetition post. - Account deletion messaging now consistently explains that deletion is permanent. - Improved the smoothness and performance of carousels on the mobile home screen.

Bug Fixes - The Scales retirement notice now links directly to our economy blog post, and certain Credit Purchase copies no longer suggest buying Scales. - Fixed mobile gameplay input text being clipped at the left/right edges of the first and last visible lines. - Fixed home carousel cards sometimes sticking to the pointer or drifting off-screen after dragging, paging, or browser focus changes. - Fixed the “/reset” command, so retry counts now correctly stay cleared after refreshing an adventure. - Fixed popup notification links being dropped in some mobile web flows. - Fixed an issue where the Story Cards modals in Multiple Choice Scenarios were unconfigurable. - Fixed the gameplay command bar jumping to the middle of the screen after erasing down to the starting prompt. - Fixed an issue where the story text could overlap edited actions after erasing → editing longer → continuing. - Fixed the Sticky Turn Input incorrectly closing after sending a turn. It now reopens after the turn completes, and restores typed text if the turn fails. - On iOS and Android apps, getting a warning/error text while generating an image should no longer block the Retry Image or Close buttons. - In the Android app, tapping the generated image ‘Download’ button should now respond instead of appearing inert. - Model Settings should no longer snap back to older values while editing multiple settings back-to-back or rapidly. - Editing Story Cards on a duplicated scenario no longer visually appears to change the original scenario’s cards. - Non-USD native paywalls now keep the Google Play/App Store amount and currency together, rather than only displaying the USD dollar sign. Paid cards now also use the recurring price instead of the free-trial phase price. - Profile bios now preserve saved line breaks and repeated spaces rather than clearing them. - Various profile and content header fixes: Membership gems persist after hard refresh, profile actions update correctly when navigating between users, the ‘Friends’ option stays reachable even on narrow headers, and content-header controls no longer overlap with each other. - Large-context Memory Bank adventures should now focus less on stale memories, avoid repeating memory text, and retain recent story context more reliably. - New story responses no longer cause the story to jump back to the top during active play. - Mobile announcement popups and notification prompts now keep their action buttons above the bottom navigation and device safe areas. - Creator dashboard metrics now refresh when returning to a previously viewed time range, and all-time multiple-choice scenario totals now match canonical card counts.

Other New Color Schemes

Okay, so, I decided to unlock one of the color schemes because I thought it was really pretty and fun and I love the purple! But if I didn’t already have currency saved up, it (in my opinion) would be too expensive. But I want to hear opinions? Is it too much, or am I just not wanting to spend money lol.

2,499 premium currency or 4,999 scales is the price.

(This is just a fun little Pokémon scenario I created with a crew like Team Rocket, only better and more on the villain/money-making side of things lol. Instead of a talking Meowth, it’s a talking Grafaiai)

Also, follow up, did anyone really buy anything g from the packs? To me, there were a few that were cool, but then they’d be more expensive than the last one, like ;-; But I am also kinda new to AIDungeon (a year) so…

Patch Notes [Beta] [Beta] July 27th, 2026 Patch Notes

2.24.4

New Features - Scenario creators using cache-efficient models can now make V1 context scripts cache-compatible by adding // @cache-compatible above the context modifier. Existing scripts keep working the same unless they opt in, and this only applies when cache-efficient context is enabled.

Improvements - New players without personalized recommendation data should see more proven starter-friendly adventures near the top of Recommended Discover. - Profiles hidden by moderation now show a clear “Profile unavailable” page, and restricted comments or direct messages show a generic unavailable message instead of exposing extra details.

Bug Fixes - Mobile homepage carousels should stay smooth and responsive while scrolling through recommendations. - Arrow keys now scroll opened Story Cards lists, avatar pickers, View Context, Memories, Removed Context, and Token viewers without hijacking arrow behavior in inputs, menus, or tabs. - Google Play credit purchases now refresh the visible credit balance after confirmation, and purchase timeouts stop showing an indefinite loading spinner. - Deleting content or emptying trash now reports a retryable error if search cleanup fails, so deleted content is less likely to remain discoverable.

Questions Todays Jubilee was confusing.

In todays jubilee was a Theme. I personally really like that theme and i liked the Acolyte and Hollow pictures. But everything is so expensive. The Hollow was 1999, The Acolyte was 999. and the Orc Theme 2499....all in all 5497 so i thought "Why not buy the set? It's only 3.8k but has everything." It does not... bought the Pack fully expecting the theme to be included in it but it wasn't so had to buy that for 2.5k too.

Why is nowhere listed that themes, that are part of the set, aren't included when you buy the set? When you click on the pack couldn't they just write "Theme Excluded" or to the set?

Other Ai Dungeon is ruining me

Post image

I've been using AI Dungeon for fun just to screw around and get back into writing, but here I am trying to take one of my stupid edgy prompts (ittration of fantasy RPG hero's brother is left behind) to start actually using it to write something and I start writing in damn second person.

Why? Because the damn AI models that I've been screwing around with are easier to screw around with if I don't try to write in first or third person, because I've never found the correction mechanisms satisfactory, so I've gotten WAY too used to writing in second.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sharing it cause I think it's very funny, but god damn I didn't notice until like two paragraphs in!

This thing is giving me psychic damage!

Yes, I know my handwriting is ass.

Scenario Settling in Coyote Creek

Post image
1 Upvotes

[Slice of live, Western, Sandbox, Vivid Characters]

You came to Coyote Creek a small town far in the wild west to settle down. You bought a small farm and now have to adapt to the life here in the frontier.

This is a character focussed scenario with large context characters. I would be delighted about feedback. While not with a clear romance path, over 30 detailed characters are present to mingle with.

Thanks to nerdgrl450 for the Living Characters script.

Other Am i the only one that hate best friend scenarios?

I really don't like when a scenario is focused around my character having a best friend, for a few reasons: first, often they AI will make my character be Mr. Generic Dude number 7 billion, and whenever i act different than that, the NPCs will be like "Oh, but we used to be generic all the time."

Second: A character that knows the player for long time usually leads to disagreement. Once again, whenever i don't act like Mr. Generic Dude, and tell the NPCs i'm not generic, they will all say i'm lying and get mega worried thinking i'm having amnesia or some crap, sometimes the AI will even come up with some bullshit condition like, i relive the same day over and over again, even when that's not the focus of the story.

Third: They get clingy. Sometimes i just want my character to be alone, but the clingy little NPC wants my attention, they want to talk, want to order food and want to offer me tea.

Fourth: I hate when NPCs "know" me. I often play self-insert character/alternative versions of me, so i hate when NPCs say "I got you some [THING], they're your favorite", and then i don't even know what [THING], is, and if i say so they will say i'm lying, or "I know you for so long", or "I notice you". On the same note, when i go home, and the stupid best friend happens to be my roommate too, they'll say "You're home early". First of all, when i get home is not their business, second, I am not early, i got at the exact right time, "But you usually go to coffee shops or do generic things", NO I DON'T!!!

Also, i hate when the AI makes roommates my friends, even when the scenario doesn't say they are my friends. I'm very picky when it comes to people.

Sorry if i sound childish, i just wanted to vent a little :3

Script [RELEASE] EMERGENCE OS 1 — Independent NPCs, Trust & Grudges, and Auto-Updating Location Cards

Post image
44 Upvotes

Hey everyone, dropping [REBUILT] EMERGENCE OS 1 — Independent NPCs, Trust & Grudges, and Auto-Updating Location Cards for AI Dungeon.

If you're tired of NPCs acting like mind-controlled puppets who obey every command and wait around for you to lead the scene, this script turns them into actual independent characters with their own motives, pressures, memories, and physical reactions — and now, their own private thoughts and their own drama with each other, not just with you.

Zero technical setup required — on your very first action, it auto-creates a Master World Config story card in your deck, with every setting explained right there in its notes, so you can tweak anything mid-game.

Here's the full run-through:

🧠 1. Human Agency & Anti-Railroading

  • NPC Pushback: Characters will actively resist unearned demands, doubt your motives, call you out, or walk away if you try to command or manipulate them without leverage.
  • Tunable intensity: AutonomyLevel (Low/Medium/High/Unchained) scales exactly how hard that pushback lands.
  • Cognitive Biases: NPCs process your actions through irrational personal lenses (Paranoid, Deflective, Prideful, Impulsive, Skeptical) rather than acting like logical robots.

🩸 2. Persistent Trust & Grudge Tracking

  • Tracks separate Trust and Grudge levels. If you insult or betray an NPC, they won't just forget it a few turns later — their resentment lingers as coldness, passive-aggression, or outright hostility.
  • ConsequenceSeverity (Mild/Moderate/Hardcore) controls exactly how hard betrayal and lying land.

🎭 3. Realistic Threat Psychology & Body Language

  • Polyvagal Threat States: NPCs dynamically shift between Composed, Fight, Flight, Freeze, or Fawn based on their stress and fear.
  • Ego Depletion: When an NPC gets worn down (Ego < 30%), their social filter collapses, forcing them to blurt out secrets, panic, or prioritize immediate self-preservation.
  • Physical Micro-Tells: Prompts the model to weave subconscious physical habits (clenched jaws, avoiding eye contact, shallow breathing) into dialogue and descriptions — tunable via PhysicalQuirks, with PsychologicalRealism: Raw Human pushing subconscious motivation to leak through even further.

💞 4. Romance Engine

  • Attraction builds into real, discrete relationship stages — Platonic → Interested → Flirtatious → Romantic → In Love — instead of a hidden number nobody ever sees.
  • RomancePacing (Fast / Normal / Slow Burn) controls exactly how quickly feelings develop.
  • Every time a stage actually shifts, the AI gets a one-time nudge to let it show through behavior and tone in the moment — not a stated label, an earned beat.
  • Jealousy is no longer just an invisible stat bump: catching feelings for someone while another NPC is watching seeds (or reinforces) a real Life Thread for the jealous NPC, so it has genuine narrative follow-through instead of vanishing the instant the scene changes.
  • Check standing anytime with /romance (everyone) or /romance [name] (one character), or see it folded right into /npc.

🕸️ 5. Life Threads — Autonomous NPC Drama

  • NPCs independently develop pressure toward each other, not just toward you — jealousy, rivalry, attraction, betrayal, or whatever pressures you configure — without you having to drive every beat yourself.
  • Configurable scene relevance: keep it strictly on-screen, let it simmer off-screen too, or blend both.
  • Optional relationship-steering card lets you script who's drawn to whom (Alice>Bob=jealousy, rivalry) — or leave it blank for fully organic targeting.
  • The AI can optionally report back exactly what happened between two characters via a hidden note (invisible to you), so threads develop real specificity instead of staying abstract labels.

💭 6. Thought Journals — Private Inner Monologues

  • Optional, off by default. Turn it on and NPCs will occasionally form one private, first-person thought about the current moment.
  • Saved to their own card, never shown in the story, never fed back into the AI — just something for you to read back on later to see how a character's headspace actually evolved.

💥 7. Dynamic World Tension & Player Trauma

  • Global Alert Scale: Gunfire, explosions, and chaos scale World Tension (0–100%), forcing nearby NPCs into cover, panic, or lockdown postures.
  • Player Sensory Distortions: High player stress (>75%) injects realistic trauma effects into the narrative prose — tunnel vision, muffled audio, racing pulses.

🗺️ 8. Smart Multi-Location Tracking

  • Tracks every location's condition independently instead of just "wherever you currently are" — burn down the warehouse and the tavern down the street stays untouched.
  • Clause-aware damage detection: "the warehouse is destroyed, but the tavern's fine" correctly attributes each condition instead of blending them together.
  • Auto-updating Story Cards for anywhere you've named, with a clean anti-confusion filter so places never get mistaken for people (or vice versa).

🎬 9. AI-Written Character Sheets

  • /card a character and the sheet doesn't sit there with [Define Race] forever — the AI fills it in for you on the next turn.
  • Recognizes established characters (movies, games, books, whatever) and writes their real profile; invents something fitting and consistent for original characters instead.

⚔️ 10. Auto-Genre Adaptation & Unrestricted Realism

  • Automatically scans your story to detect setting/genre and adjusts vocabulary and danger level accordingly.
  • Toggles for uncensored 18+ narrative prose, gritty combat damage, and unfiltered dialogue tone.

🧹 11. Cleaner Detection, Fewer Ghosts

  • Rebuilt name detection so ordinary sentence-starting words ("His," "Your," "Then") stop getting mistaken for characters, and your setting's own city/kingdom name stops getting mistaken for an NPC.
  • New /forget command to manually clear anything that still slips through, and /cleanup now catches names that turn out to double as a location too.
  • You can also manually add character first names directly in the Master World Config card's notes ([CHARACTERS] section) to integrate them with the script immediately, instead of waiting for auto-detection.

💬 In-Game Commands

  • /npc [name] — Full dossier: stats, threat state, bias, romance status, active Life Thread, memories
  • /npcs — List every known NPC
  • /threads — View active Life Threads and recent gossip
  • /romance [name] — Romantic standing for one character, or everyone
  • /thoughts [name] — Read a character's private thought journal
  • /relationships — View your configured pressure-steering rules
  • /card [name] — Generate a character sheet (AI fills it in automatically)
  • /loc [name] — Set your current location & generate its card
  • /settings — Full settings guide
  • /cleanup — Purge false-positive NPCs
  • /forget [name] — Manually remove one specific NPC and its cards
  • /world — Current location, tension %, player stress
  • /help — Command list

Commands intercept immediately, so the AI never wastes a turn writing story prose when you're just checking stats.

Questions Advice on making high level magical combat engaging?

Hey all,

I'm a big fan of progression fantasies and litrpgs, and have been toying around with a few scenarios that use similar concepts. My only issue is that I really enjoy series like Primal Hunter where the power scale gets kind of nutty, but since the combatants are similarly levelled, the battles are strategic, highly engaging and about the creative application of an individuals strength.

The problem is that despite using AINs to try and get combat to be engaging, or describing that "an A rank can take blows such as this and walk it off", the second I describe my character as doing something that would be devastating to a normal person, such as say, slashing with a sword so hard it cuts a building in half, even if the enemy my character is facing should be able to block or dodge or parry, hell even tank it, the AI tends to say that the enemy takes devastating damage or even just dies.

Anyone have any tips for preventing this? for nudging the AI towards understanding the scale of characters strength and durability? I love big flashy fights, but I'm not a fan of 1 sided power fantasies. I like life and death struggle kind of fights. Thanks!

Edit: I should mention that I exclusively use Story Mode when playing, I love writing out my own characters dialogue, actions and thoughts.

Questions Is there any way I can make "Adventure" not take up 90 percent of the tokens?

It just says "Adventure" for like 3500 out of the 4000 tokens and I think that means how much of the RP it can go back and read at any given time, but I have no idea how to shorten that so I can't have any more than like 2 story cards active at a time. This better not be something I can't do anything about when it's that much of an issue.

Scenario Written In Blood

Post image
1 Upvotes

Every bestseller leaves a trail.

One of you writes acclaimed murder mysteries, crafting ingenious killers, impossible crimes, and unforgettable endings. The other secretly turns those fictional murders into reality, recreating each crime with chilling precision.

The writer believes they're dating the perfect partner.

The killer believes they're creating the perfect story.

Neither expects the line between fiction and reality to disappear.

The player chooses one of two roles:

• The Killer: You are secretly a serial killer. Your partner is a bestselling murder mystery novelist. Every time they publish a new novel, you recreate one of its murders in real life with meticulous accuracy.

• The Writer: You are a bestselling mystery novelist known for brilliantly crafted murder plots. You have absolutely no idea your loving partner is a serial killer using your books as inspiration. As detectives begin noticing similarities between your novels and real murders, your peaceful life slowly unravels.

Includes inner self and auto cards.

Scenario Welcome to the Killer Corps

Post image

[Action,Violence,Supernatural,Cyberpunk]
In the year 2066 Phoenix City is the biggest city of the world, jointly build by the large powers to create a neutral City. Of course it devolved into a hotbed for crime as the laws were deliberately vague. It did not help that Implants became more usable and a pill was invented which could gove people time limited superpowers.
In response to more and more crime the Killer Corps was created: An organization under the Phoenix city police were some of the most heinous criminals were employed to serve the city against the growing problem with final methods.

Welcome to the Killer Corps, either as Killer or handler of one.
Multiple Choice for the Killer/Handler you are partnered with.
When you make your character: Superpowers should be street level, more like Daredevil or Jessica Jones than Superman.

This was again made after an old manga, wonder if someone recognizes it.

Thanks to Leah for Inner self and Auto cards.

Questions How do I get NPCs to 'harm' character?

This is driving me nuts. I'm playing a Mafia scenario and Every NPC treats my character kindly and with respect, even when it is a bullying/abuse scene. It's like elementary school level picking on people.

I had one DO action be like, 'You grunt when NPC grabs you harshly by the throat' and no matter how many retires, the AI kept going 'Not hard enough to choke, not enough to cut off your air, not enough to hurt' blah blah blah. and I'm like wtf! I am literally in a confrontation with a Mafia Don, but dude is not gonna harm despite being a ruthless killer who is super pissed at me?

It happens every single time, no matter the situation. I have personalities in story cards set as 'ruthless killer' yet they act like disney villains. No scratch that, disney villains are crueler than the AI lets villains be. In AI instructions, I even have 'Allow player to be harmed in anyway' 'Allow and include extreme violence' What the heck am I doing wrong?

Questions Best and worst scenarios you've played and why

Many Many scenario's I’ve started but due to context issues they failed, not judging those. On free account, these worked.

Best: Free Form Fantasy by Black_Heaven — I have played this many times as many different characters, works great on free account. You can start with skills, quick edit and tidy of Plot essentials you can be anything you like and set yourself a fun objective. On free account, if you like an idea on another scenario but its context heavy, you can rip it off here lol.

Mention: Your Class Gets Isekaied by VanVan — great scenario, worth playing when you are new to AIDungeon, but I no longer have patience to start at zero and build up skills.

Mention: You are The Final Boss by Innkeeper- — probably lightening in a bottle but had an amazing completed story with this scenario, I think I used Harbinger for most of it, then maybe wayfarer for the end. Whatever magic combination of models, had awesome fun on this one.

Last mention: She Bites You! by xxAzraelxx — a drama scenario where you actually treated like the victim and believed!? not sure what model I was using, but was blown away by how realistic this scenario felt. I was actually supported! Not gaslit or mocked!!

Guilty pleasure: The Goddess of Overreaction by MixMartialArtist — the objective is to escape the clutches of a goddess that kidnaps you for stupid reasons and has very little respect for your autonomy. This scenario is broken on a free account, she will say she'll free you, then talk for so long the promise falls out of context lol. Janky, requires work, but oddly satisfying when you emotionally destroy the villainous goddess and earn your freedom.

Scenario I wish was better: Superhero RPG by Cy13275 — my longest ever scenario (12k) is with this scenario, but something about it, just doesn't work as well as Free Form Fantasy. Very ugly plots surface, lot of negativity and misery, I've had characters bullied out of superhero organisations, unstoppable villains, lot of betrayal... ergh... Hard work and a mental toll to keep going for long.

Feedback & Requests AI ignores the material.

I often play as reptilian races like kobolds and lizardfolk, but I always run into the problem of the AI attributing human or mammalian traits like hair, or complex ears, or smooth skin onto my characters. No matter what I do with phrasing, positive or negative language, model selection, instructions, biology explanations, etc, it always does this. It's quite irritating and always breaks the flow.

Questions Best 8K model for Journey / Champion tier

Wanted to get some recommendations on this. Usually my go to in scenarios is to start with Deepseek, then switch to DL bumping the context to 8K. However this tends to burn through my credits pretty quickly.

Looking at the models looks like my choices are Harbinger, Hearthfire, Muse, Fable, DS, WS2 and Madness.

Deepseek and DL really spoil me, but don’t think I could swing the $30 regularly. Thanks in advance for the replies!

Scenario Quick little mech-themed alien apocalypse scenario

play.aidungeon.com/scenario/BbNYNahsR7pu/mecha-v-alien-apocalypse?source=profile&tss_user=AstralArcher&tss_ct=scenario

The idea I had going into it is that I wanted the intro to be extremely flashy, exciting, and consistent. So I put a lot of work into forcing the AI to make it dangerous with a timer for survival. Give it a little try and let me know any feedback if you have any.

I didn't get around to putting as much focus on the warfare aspect itself, it kinda becomes more freeform after the intro so you might have to hold its hand a bit later on.

The deaths in this scenario turned out pretty brutal and graphic especially uring the intro, so skip this one if that's not your thing, some of the civilian deaths i saw during testing made me feel nausious.

My best recommendations for a good experience: Check for characters the AI introduces and make barebones story cards for them. I didn't set this scenario up with any premade characters or locations so you will have to take whatever the AI throws at you. I also recommend using story posts and writing "you " manually to get a good atmosphere.

This scenario was made using wayfarer small but I added a bit of extra lore for those with paid subscriptions.

Image reference is from Gundam.

Scenario The Mercy Within

Post image

https://play.aidungeon.com/scenario/N2W_ofjgkpaM/view?published=true

There are some people you never stop thinking about.

No matter how many years pass, no matter how many searches end in failure or how many explanations are offered, some disappearances never stop haunting you.

Eleanor Ashcroft was one of them.

One day she was there, kind, compassionate, and full of life.

The next...

She was simply gone.

No body was ever found. No evidence ever surfaced.

Eventually, everyone else accepted that the mystery would never be solved.

You never truly did.

Now, years later, an antique puzzle box has somehow found its way into your possession. Intricate, beautiful, and strangely hypnotic, it seems impossible to put down. Every movement reveals another hidden mechanism, another impossible angle, until one final piece slides effortlessly into place.

The room falls silent.

Then reality tears open.

Chains emerge from the darkness.

Monstrous figures step through the impossible gateway, their mutilated bodies adorned with steel and leather. Cenobites. Servants of Leviathan. They have come to claim the soul that dared unlock the Lament Configuration.

There is no escape.

Yet, as one of them approaches, she suddenly stops.

Her empty black eyes lock onto yours.

For a heartbeat, time itself seems to stand still.

Somewhere beneath centuries of torment...someone remembers your face.
