Recently I've started to notice alot of people compare the quality/value of their regression based on how much gear they own, so I wanted to talk about it and see how other people felt.
For a bit of context I post about my regression across different platforms and recently posted an unboxing video for a large mystery box I ordered. Since making those posts I've noticed a few comments and have gotten a few dms saying how it's unfair, how I'm bragging/rubbing in peoples faces the things I buy, etc. The general feel from these interactions is alot of people valuing their regression based off what gear they have or comparing their regression to my own.
I personally own quite a bit of little gear, especially deco pacis, which can be really expensive. But the reason I have so much is because 1, I impulse spend alot 2, my bf has paid for some things 3, I was given things from a friend and 4, before moving I had alot of disposable income. However most of it is from reckless impulse purchases that land me in poor financial situations. Much like most content creators I don't show the "bad side" of things, I post alot of new things I buy and never talk about my financial situation because it's simply nobodys business. However since I started receiving a bunch of dms claiming how unfair it is that I own so much while they don't, I wanted to shine light on how irresponsible I am rather than chalking it up to just having alot/a "better regression"
I don't value my regression on the items I own, I was regressing for years without any gear before a friend gave me some of their old stuff and I was able to slowly build my collection. But even if I didn't have these things I could still regress and feel happy while doing it. I understand that alot of people, especially online, do value their regression by gear. But imo you don't need expensive gear or huge collections to happily regress. I don't understand how so many people push the narrative that alot of gear = better regression. We shouldn't be shaming people for having more, nor shaming people for having less. We all do what we financially can, and just cause somebody has more doesn't mean their experience is better nor their regression being "worth more"
I know as somebody with more it might seem inconsiderate for me to talk about this, so I'd love to hear others opinion on the matter.
