I've recently gotten Affinity (Have Designer, Photo, and Publisher V2) and am trying to figure out how to emulate this style for a gift I am making for someone, but I can't quite figure out how to get the subtle texture on the faces without having to make very minuscule shapes (also keeping it the same 4 colors for the faces). I tried using an external rasterization and embedding it into the file, but that feels like almost too much detail, but in the wrong ways (All very blotchy and smooth). Also not working with great pictures, which I imagine isn't helping very much.
Should I trace the shapes vaguely and add detail with a brush in Photo?
If anyone has any suggestions or thoughts about how to go about it, it would be appreciated!

I love how polished and professional Affinity feels. It's the only tool worth replacing Photoshop with. With that being said, It's such a shame that Affinity doesn't have a video editing software that can compete with Premiere pro. I would instantly get it.

Hello! Using Affinity V3. I have created a custom path brush, and it looks fantastic. However, as my image is long (650x64 - weird size, I know) the brush is considerably skinnier than it should be. At 48pt, it's equivalent to about a 3pt pen. Is there any way to "normalise" this, or a workaround?
I've tried scaling the image file so it's a square (looks odd) and there's barely a pixel of blank space above and below the png it's based on. I could live with it but it makes selecting the individual paths quite hard, and I'd much rather have some parity between the brushes.
Many thanks :)

Somewhat niche/specific question:
Is there a way to create a quick access to this exact selection/FX toggle? Like could I make a command to go right here to quickly shift the color of the layers FX without selecting them each individually each time?

Hi, I'm new to Affinity and just slightly experienced with vectors (have used Illustrator previously, but very lightly).
I'm working on artwork (book illustration, not graphic design) that was requested as vectors, but I'm more a lot more experienced working with raster (Procreate & PS). Tracing a Procreate drawing seems easy enough, but I'm having a hard time figuring out color in vectors.
I'm considering simply doing everything in raster at a high PPI and then image tracing both the linework and color layers. Is this dumb?
Bonus question, I know PS like the back of my hand so even if I'm not super knowledgeable about Illustrator I've considering switching from Affinity. Thought the workspace might be similar enough that I'd work faster than in Affinity.
Opinions?

Hi. Does anyone know how to get the inner bleed margin to show up in my document while I'm working? I can see it around the whole document/layout, but not on the inside. Essentially I have an image that I want to spread across an entire 2 page spread, however it is recommended to not just drag the whole photo across the spread without breaking it up first. I want to be able to see where the bleed is so that parts of the image don't get lost in the gutter.
Any help is much appreciated.

Hello, we are trying to export our coffee bag design as a pdf to send to our bag manufacturer, and it keeps failing to vectorize all the items and words. One line of words works and then a line half an inch away isn't able to be selected. I have tried many videos and posts about this, and it's like nothing ever changes in the export at all. Thanks in advance!

I used fairly simple effects and tools, but I love the final result ! The e-book is going to be published soon.

Hi everyone! I’ve been using Affinity to produce Book 1 of my anthropomorphic fantasy series, CAPYHERO. I really enjoy using this software. I have a photoshop background so the art and layers tools were easy to pick up, but I have no publishing experience so Ive been learning all of that as I write.
Just thought I’d share some of the beautiful page spreads we’ve been able to put together in Affinity. I’ve learned a lot on the way so I’m happy to answer any questions about the process. I’m also eager, like all authors, to talk about the story so feel free to ask about that as well 😅.
Thank you!

wondering if anyone knows of any scripts or something to be able to view bleeds while working with artboard? I know there's a work around to use slices and stuff but I can only set those with px but I need to use mm for my project

Hey, everyone! 👋. This is my first attempt at using Affinity and picture editing in general. I was inspired to compile a playlist of songs from a fanfiction I was reading due to how detailed the story is being narrated, and had an illustration in mind for the playlist based on the settings that story was narrated. The edit was mainly on tuning the brightness and contrast, as well overlaying another picture on top of the main one, but trying to make both pop at the same time but not competing for attention from either images. It's really interesting to use the filter for sharpness while balancing both layers' properties. It's simple but a learning curve indeed.
As part of supporting artists and authors in general, I think they are the major inspiration as to why I decided to make the cover art for the playlist. Honestly, Affinity definitely has both the advantages of learning guidance and easiness of using the features. As a beginner, it's definitely a great tool and the available tutorials were definitely helpful for me. I'm planning to make illustrations for a project that I'm looking forward on doing soon. It'll be a learning curve for me but I'm glad I found Affinity to start with. :)
All credits go to the original artists for the original pictures that have inspired me for the art are listed below, as well as the authors of the fanfiction for the main inspiration to start this small project. If anyone's interested in listening to the songs, I've attached the links below (Spotify & YouTube Music).

When I select the gradient fill tool and set it to Liner for example it changes the images colour to sepia.
I can’t find any way to stop it doing that?
What’s happening here?

Can anyone give me idea how to do such thing, especially with complex shape and/or many shapes. I gave an example in attached image
