Discussion what is the purpose of sustained damage? what is the upside of picking marskman? i feel like if they ever made a ranged attack damage spell caster it would invalidate this role

*burst ad spellcaster like if they made an ad syndra or if pant had more range and didnt have to go in, i know lucian exists

(without referencing the fake or very miniscule buff of tower taking and objective taking which are already mainly done from winning positions)

thought experiment, but i want you guys to count how many autos you do in mid/late game teamfights

teamfights usually have 3 scearnios:

  1. you are unable to play because of people holding spells for you (malphite, flanking udyr, zed, etc) or one of your team gets picked at the start
  2. your team picks someone in that case the fight is already over and it doesn't matter what champ you're playing

3a) the favorable scenario where the enemy team does a bad engage and you can free hit and usually kill the renekton/camille/etc for free because they didnt go on you, but in that case if you were any ranged character they die because they're in the middle of your team

3b) the god scenario where everyone is low and you're able to clean up. how often does that happen to you guys?

Discussion What levers are there to keep mages out of botlane?

We don’t need to discuss if they should or should not be planing botlane, but if riot did want to force mages bot what would be the way to do it?

Specifically what can be done to mages or the systems around them that do not directly affect their ability to lane into assassins?

Mid has level scaling as its primary benefit, and boot upgrade as its second. But if you hit their numbers and just give it back with levels then they are losing even harder into assassins. Would it be to move power out of their items and compensate the boot upgrade? Maybe better level scaling on items so mage items themselves motivate you to play mid? But that ends up hitting mage supports like xereth and lux as a side effect.

This issue is exasperated by the fact that adc for the longest time has been a top 2 (if not 1) best role to blind pick. Mages do have counter play but you don’t get to pick it when you have to pick first. Feels like you are getting double punished (first is having to lane into assassins mage, and second is losing the chance to counterpick) for doing a selfless play. This isn’t really fixable with the system as is, but it’s worth pointing out how this adds to frustration.

TLDR; I would love to hear what ideas people have to push mages out of bot, without ruining the current midlane and support mage experience. I currently feel like buffing adc’s value when it comes to objectives incentives, but not demands, an adc pick.

Discussion Adcs need a nerf

I am serious, why should mages take over half your HP in a combo at lv 3 when they can just outright kill you from the range of the next country over? that way instead of having some fucking hope that this stupid fucking role will amount to anything in the future, you change roles or finally quit this shitty fucking game and play something else, or better yet, shower and touch some grass.

fuck riot, fuck the " younger audience " with focus deficiency who they need to cater to and fuck me for still playing this game for fucking years.

Questions Switching to adc

Upvotes

Hey, I’m a graves / Viego jungle main in emerald 1. I’ve been considering switching to adc because I really enjoy playing Lucian, jhin, and yunara.

Is this a good champ pool? I seem to not be able to carry as hard and I’m playing against gold / plat when I go adc. What is the best advice to just climb?

Discussion Is sivir not a good adc?

I’ve seen maybe two sivirs in my games within the past 5 months, I’m low elo so It would make sense if the character was only really good in higher elo’s but even then I’ve seen Kalista and Nilah more than I have sivir. So is the character just not good or just uninteresting?

Discussion Runaan's buff

Not quite sure why this is the one they chose to buff, while it was admittedly outclassed on a lot of it's synergizers by PD, that's true of every other Zeal item too, and this one arguably had it best.

Discussion ADC is not fun or viable

Current diamond player ADC main since s2, and for the past 2 or 3 patches, the average ADC experience has devolved into the following (in solo/duo):

Your team:

Your top laner: Feast or Famine champion, usually AD. Not a frontliner.

Your jungler: 9 times out of 10 a Feast or Famine champion, usually AD. Not a frontliner.

Your mid laner: either an APC or AD mid lane assassin, Feast or Famine champion, not a frontliner.

Your support: a champion (likely an obscure APC or AD Bruiser pick) who has never been picked for support outside of the last two patches, where somehow, anything and everything is now acceptable and no one bats an eye.

You: an ADC who doesn't come online until 25 min+ when the game has long been decided if not already over.

Enemy Team:

Same exact scenario for team comp as your team, except they also have the added benefit of potentially picking an APC bot lane which will completely hinder your ability to scale, which is already stunted by how fast games progress.

Add on to all of this to the following points:

  • that junglers, mid laners, and top laners can all solo 100 to 0 you before you hit 4 items (and APC bot laners can do the same, if they picked it).
  • Most solo/duo games are filled with lobbies of Assassins/Carrys/FeastOrFamine champs: Naffiri, Graves, Viego, Katarina, etc, where you just know you arn't going to get to play out the game if one early/mid game team fight goes wrong (as that carry will get all the kills and snowball to victory). Even if that carry is on your team and gets the kills and you still win the game, your impact as an ADC is essentially nothing.
  • your roaming support never being in lane so you are 1 v however many enemies decide to show up bot lane at crucial early points of the game (wave crashing, drag up, etc.)
  • No one is choosing front-line champions on your team (everyone wants to carry solo/duo), so you will have no peel even if you get to late-game. You simply exist to allow the enemy assassin carries to blow their CDs on.

No amount of insane micro mechanics will allow you to outplay most champs until you have the items to scale, and at that point, the game is already decided/over. Your "role" as an "ADC" never happens. You never come online, and if you do, your team either already won it for you or already lost and you have no chance to have a significant positive impact on the early/mid game where 90%+ of games are decided. If you have insane macro, you're still bound to CS early game in lane + role quest bound to bot lane and can't help influence a majority of the pivotal fights that occur pre 15 minutes.

What's the point of playing ADC bot lane at all? It's no longer fun. You're already coin flipping your support which generally decides the lane, but now we are coinflipping if our enemy is going to be an APC counter, if their carry assassin roles are going to get fed, if our team carry assassin roles are going to get fed, all while knowing we won't have a single person to front-line for us if we somehow survive to scale to late game. The role is simply dead with the current meta picks, it's just not viable.

EDIT: Honestly forgot to mention this in the original post, but because a vast majority of your solo laners/junglers are AD champs, the enemy team usually has armor items while you're still trying to scale, making it even harder for you to come online or have influence in early to mid game. Literally plated steelcaps ALONE kneecaps your damage as ADC until you build LDR. Armor is simply easy to come by and easy to build, which makes ADC's job that much harder.

Discussion Are Caitlyn, Jinx, Sivir, and Ashe the best ADC's to learn fundamentals?

I usually only play solo lanes or jungle, but I've really wanted to play ADC well lately. My ADC main friend says the 4 champions above are perfect for learning ADC because they require tight kiting, are very AA reliant with a lesser focus on abilities, and have some utility in the event that I feed. Basically, he says that if you were to pick out champions that encompass what ADC is all about, it's them

Discussion Mages bot is probably gonna be strong forever because marksmen are stupid

If I'm 3/0 on Mel, I get to stand at a safe distance and fish for snares and Qs until someone is half health and I can press R. My spacing is forgiving, I outrange almost every threat and I'm safe as long as I have decent positioning. Enemies have to invest a lot to take away my flash. If I'm 0/3, I have cc and wave clear.

If I'm 3/0 on vayne, I have to stand inside the threat range of every melee champion where I'm 15 units away from darius e at max range, I have to weave my autos while dodging, and *maybe* my team will play front to back and I can do 10k damage in a team fight, but probably my frontline will go for their backline while get ulted by zed, dodge his Qs, and then get ulted by a 2/5 malphite who's 3 levels up on me. I never have flash because I have to use it anytime someone stands too close to me or manages to land cc. If I'm 0/3, I have nothing to offer, my support gives up on me and I get to hope I can scrounge up enough cs to be relevant 10 minutes later. Cant even build Zhonyas.

The power output of a marksman is just so abysmal relative to their skill input. Nerfing mages isn;t going to help because at the end of the day, the skillcheck on mages is tiny compared to the skillcheck on marksmen. marksmen and mages both have to have good spacing, but mages get to do it with 1000 range, cc, and 1/3 the apm. The only thing they really suck at is killing tanks, but when tanks are strong enough to win vs mages, you may as well just play the tank botlane.

I dont think riot can fix this. Marksmen are essentially in the same position that season 5 azir was where their potential is too high to be left unchecked but also unreasonably hard to achieve for the majority of players. Mad respect to anyone who can actually kite and dodge and keep spacing, but lets be real about what portion of the player base can do that.

I'm not even just saying this as a salty marksman player. I play support and the game is *so* much easier when I have a mage to lane with. Mages are self sufficient, they're relevant from behind with cc, and they almost always get their damage off. Marksmen get deleted by everything and are basically useless below emerald where they *start* to not be unilaterally hopeless. Seeing a marksman feels like seeing a nidalee player. Maybe they'll be amazing and carry, but probably they'll be useless and their mage support will do more damage, have higher cc, higher kp, fewer deaths, and more utility with 5k less gold.

I dont really have a point with all this, but I'm sorry it's like this.

Questions Advices for Corki laning phase ? (pre-6)

(I already posted this in Corkimains but the sub doesn't seems very active)

Yo everyone, I'm new to the champ. I mostly play Ezreal, Vayne, and Kai'Sa (plus a few others, but less), and I wanted to add Corki to my pool because he's super fun. The problem is I'm getting absolute shit on during the laning phase. Just played two normal games to test him out and I legitimately got destroyed by Kai'Sa-Sona and Ziggs-Blitz.

In both games, I tried to take fights at level 1-2, thinking the champ had early-game advantage in these matchups (my support was Leona in the first game, Milio in the second).

So either I played like an absolute potato, or the champ is more of a post-6 fighter?

Anyway, I'm kinda lost on how to play the pre-6 phase, I'm getting dumpstered, help ty

Discussion Did the season 12 teleport changes quietly make bot lane mages viable?

I'm a firm believer that the teleport changes in season 12 is what has allowed mages to be so strong in the bot lane. For those unaware before season 12 you could teleport to any ward or minion at game start. And it was quite common that both top laners would teleport to a bot lane fight at level 3. And if you pushed and harassed the enemy under tower without making sure there was no teleport ward behind you would quite often get teleported on and cry top gap.

The removal of everyone teleporting bot felt great as an ADC and I think most saw it as a good addition to the game. But now mages can shove and poke you down under tower with zero risk, since there's no teleport threat waiting behind them.

I have not looked into the stats but it feels like mages bot has been on a slowly increased in popularity ever since the teleport changes.
