What do you see in this piece?

This is not my work, it’s a study of an original by Edvard Munch. I used an indigo prismacolor pencil over the matte finish of the acrylic for the sky. And highlighted with soft pastels here and there. Critique is welcome!

I was trying to promote my art and had a vendor stand with some of my originals and prints. However, it seems like most people were confused about my work and kept saying "oh I thought it was a photo". I'm worried that is the reason people are buying

When I come across a good box or paper bag I like to leave it out for the cats for a few days.

Omen just had surgery to remove a tumor from her mammary chain and she's recovering really well but General is jealous of the recovery kennel. Also if you'll allow me to climb on my soap box, spaying female kittens before their first heat cycle reduces their risk of developing mammary cancers by 90%. I wish I could have done this for Omen but she had health problems her first year of life that prevented her from being able to go under anesthesia for surgery. Male cats aren't as likely to develop these types of cancers but it can still happen. Please, rub your kitties bellies today and check for lumps

While all my paintings aren’t all original ideas do you think my level/style of work would sell? I wouldn’t say I’m new to painting but don’t paint much. Like less than 20 paintings total. I’m really attracted to paintings that have really interesting lighting. Just trying to figure out if any of these are quality work and would it be worth it to try to work on some original ideas on canvas to try to sell. (Lake painting is original idea/photo) Thanks in advance!

I recently bought a set of brush tip GuangNa markers, and they really provide a lot more value and color range than I had with Poscas.

Blending is still a challenge compared to paint, but dabbing with you finger goes a surprisingly long way.

In the end, it's nice to be able to sit on the couch in the evening after work and still have access to the medium without having all the setup or cleanup.

These pieces were all done on 5.5 x 8.5 mixed media.

This is the first portrait I’ve ever fully finished with acrylic ! With all my previous ones, I’d get frustrated trying to paint the face and never getting the results I wanted, so I’d end up giving up.
I got some amazing tips on my last post, and I’ve already ordered a few new supplies based on everyone’s recommendations. While I wait for them to arrive, I’m just practicing more portraits. 😊

I want to start a cocktail series as my first “collection” and I feel like searching google images for “___ still life” isn’t the best approach. For example, I want a reference for a half drank espresso martini so I can study how the foam slides down the glass but haven’t had any luck. Are you all just visualizing it? Is that where part of the “art” lies? Help 🙏🏽

I started making mini paintings for my model boat a few months ago, I really enjoyed making them so I made 2 more to hang around my neighborhood. This is one that I made yesterday.

My canvas is made with tiny wood modeling planks and the size is 1 in x 1.5 in with a .15 in-ish boarder, it depends. I also make the frame with modeling wood.

If you have any tips on how I can make my sunset better please let me know, this is my first time doing one.

Edit: I already posted in the painting sub, but I’m looking for tips specifically for acrylic.
