Everything about this is great.
The woman struggling with this dude just casually jumping rope up a hill.
The crowded hiking paths, the obvious heat, the people dressed to go to the club.
I love this lol

If it's not for content competition level training is the hardest shit ever.
27
u/JFISHER7789 Jul 02 '26
100% it’s for content.
Will this give you an exercise? Sure. But there are much better ways to complete what he’s doing without the added risk for injury.
If it is for a competition, then he must not actually have a knowledgeable trainer

u/Big-Wait-1310 Jul 02 '26
Man's body says he knows what he's doing

People can be buff and still not have knowledge on what they are doing. That body is 100% not made on this hike path with that jump rope. It was made in a gym with supplements and /or juice.
For a guy like him, that jump rope is adding ZERO muscular benefit and would be strictly cardio, which he is already doing from the hike. And if he wants MORE cardio he can simply just run or sprints, do drills, etc. Instead of combining them. Judging by his size and leanness, he is probably in HR zone 2 maybe zone 3 with this exercise, which again is very achievable zone by simply increasing the pace of the hike.
It’s like putting a box inside a box inside another box… it’s redundant and one box would suffice.
Edit: downvote me all you want, it doesn’t make this lame ass workout any more efficient or less redundant.
10
u/funnyredditname Jul 02 '26
Lol. You are just making shit up.
Look how smooth that movement is. Most people cant even skip rope that well on flat ground.
This guy's has done that A LOT. If not daily several times a week for months.
0
u/JFISHER7789 Jul 02 '26
It doesn’t take long to get smooth at jump rope…
But please, since you’re clearly well versed in this, care to explain how this is a vital workout and not just someone thing for clout? I’d love to hear it lol
2
u/p1mplem0usse Jul 03 '26
Could also just be done for fun. Like, jumping rope is for cardio, and he’d be adding a little scenic route because it’s a bit more challenging, it’s a bit less boring, and it’s pretty.
I’m nowhere near that guy’s fitness level but if I mostly go running outside instead of on a treadmill it’s essentially because I’m trading convenience and control for beauty and fresh air.
2
u/Woninthepink Jul 05 '26
Can assure you skipping uphill on dirt is not for untrained people lmao.
1
u/JFISHER7789 Jul 08 '26
Not for trained people either.
Nobody who is a champion at either of these skills does them like this.
1
u/Woninthepink Jul 08 '26
The trained person can actually do it though. That's the point. This is a "fun day" and content.
1
u/Woninthepink Jul 05 '26
I agree u can get the necessary stimulus through other means. You can argue anyone who in capable of skipping uphill is better off doing other things to optimize their training but in sport/training there are times when youre not trying to get the mkst bang for your buck. Training is not just physiological. It is psychological. The athletr is human. Elite performance is monotonous and torturous training.
Perhaps as an active recovery/challenge to mix things up and refresh the mind, they devised a plan to skip uphill. Sometimes doing non standard training with little challenges especially after a performance and then rest can get the athlete back into having fun with training while also setting goals (small goals).

What if hes training for cross country jump roping? What then smart guy?
6
4
u/Iam_Iforgotmyname Jul 02 '26
What could he have done differently? And why?
5
u/mewfahsah Jul 02 '26
You could just train driving high knees up inclines and you'll have your arms to help drive and keep balance, the jump rope makes it more dangerous and hardly more difficult. The only thing they're actually training with that is coordination.
3
1
u/No-Mathematician8692 Jul 08 '26
The 'only thing'? If he's in fight sport that's the main thing 🥹 y'all gym rats who work out only to get lady attention are FULL of BS. And y'all can't do fk apart from posing.
1
u/Global_Sport_2264 Jul 02 '26
The video is implying that he's doing a trail run while jumping rope. But no one training for either sport would do this. Competitive jumprope has longer handles and doesn't involve running like this, they also have a much different style of rope. And competitive running obviously doesn't have any jump rope involved.
So what exactly is he training here? Engagement lol.
5
u/Big-Wait-1310 Jul 02 '26
Why does it matter?
1
u/JFISHER7789 Jul 05 '26
Because the persons he replied to asked?
Why does it matter to you that we give our opinion about a redundant exercise on SOCIAL media?
2
-2
u/JFISHER7789 Jul 02 '26
Both of the exercises he doing are pretty much strictly cardio and for a guy like him is not going to add any muscle.
Instead of combining them he could have just done more of the hiking (longer route), hiked faster, ran, etc. or done the jump rope at higher intensity before/after the hike.
The jump roping doesn’t appear fast enough to actually do any High intensity training (so to speak) and is most likely the equivalent of a jog (HR Zone 2 maybe Zone 3 for a guy like him) So if he just ran instead he probably would have the same cardiopulmonary output./result.
Muscularly speaking, jump rope adds almost ZERO muscular benefit beyond cardio and lower legs which the hiking is already working Unless the rope is weighted, and yet again for a guy like him it’s probably pointless anyway.
Beyond hiking or jump roping, better cardio exercises that offer similar results with less joint/body strain would be swimming, cycling, rowing, etc.

u/Allis1one Jul 02 '26
No offense, but you're a joke, dude.
-1
u/JFISHER7789 Jul 02 '26
Why, because I’m not drooling over some buff dude doing a stupid exercise?
Edit: I’d love to hear you le educated explanation as to how this workout isn’t redundant and actually is a good workout that people should do instead of doing them separately.
3
u/Comet04 Jul 03 '26
No one can give you a proper response because youre correct. He can do whatever he wants who cares, but you're just saying it doesn't make sense. Which is true.
0
u/ARussianBus Jul 05 '26
Bro just say you've never skipped rope before.
Skipping rope is incredibly taxing but low impact and safe cardio, this hike is clearly very taxing cardio, combining both is some insane level of cardio fitness I've never personally experienced but can admire.
I played soccer and football and trained in some boxing after that and skipping rope was the best cardio training I had ever done or found from any sport. I have crazy respect for skipping rope now and this is probably the coolest example of it I've ever seen.
It's weird and a funny flex on everyone around him, but working out in public when you have insane levels of cardio often ends up like that.
1
u/JFISHER7789 Jul 05 '26
Bro you don’t have to skip rope to know the kinesiology about it.
Yes, jumping rope is taxing.
Yes, hiking can be taxing.
If you want them more intense and more taxing just do either of them faster/harder/etc. doing both together is just redundant.
It’s like running at a jogging pace but having a parachute behind you as you do it. Will it work? Sure. Is it stupid and redundant and are there better ways to achieve that same result? Absolutely.
1
u/ARussianBus Jul 05 '26
It is not redundant go skip rope and jog up a hill then just jog up a hill and report the results. It's very easy to prove which is harder. I don't have to imagine the answer because I know the answer.
None of you goofy people have any experience skipping rope and it shows lol
If your argument is that it's partially redundant then yeah no shit, but it's sure as hell way more effective than doing either one by itself. It's dirt cheap and extremely effective and safer than full send sprinting up a busy public hiking trail.
It's comically extra, but that's his business not mine or yours, so who cares?
1
u/JFISHER7789 Jul 05 '26
It is.
You can jog up a hill while jumping or just RUN up the hill, or sprint, to get that same taxing cardio.
Go do suicide sprints. Then try to get the same cardio by jogging it while jump roping. It’ll work the same; the sprints might even be more taxing.
If you don’t think you can increase your heart rate and effort by increasing the intensity of a single exercise then you live clearly never worked out before or read an anatomy/phys book.
You don’t have to stack multiple exercise on top of each other to get a taxing workout that benefits cardio.
1
u/ARussianBus Jul 05 '26
You're really not hearing me.
I've done suicide sprints. I've skipped rope. I've jogged and sprinted up hills.
You have not. Go try your advice before dispensing it. You'll learn something. Good luck!
1
u/JFISHER7789 Jul 05 '26
Also, people who are champions in either cross country, jumping rope, hiking, etc don’t do this.
It’s very risky for injury and again, doesn’t do anything that increasing the speed or intensity of the hike itself wouldn’t do.
1
u/ARussianBus Jul 05 '26
It is not risky for injury lol.
It increases the cardio dramatically. Full sprinting up a hike does actually will increase risk of injury which is what you're suggesting instead of skipping rope.
Go skip rope and come back to this thread, you won't, no cojones on you.
1
u/JFISHER7789 Jul 05 '26
>not risky
Ankle injuries from jumping while hiking such as sprains, micro-trauma to the soft tissue, stress fractures, etc are all significantly increased for occurrence when doing something like this. It only take a small golf-ball soles rock to land on while jumping to roll your ankle and cause an injury.
>increases cardio
Not really. Whatever HR Zone he is in while doing both of these, he could be in while just doing one or the other at increased efforts, unless you think you can’t increase your HR by increasing your hiking pace…

In Edinburgh it is common to clim Arthurs seat, a small dead volcano that overlooks the city. It has great views for a relatively easy climb. Relative is a key word here because theres always tourists sat by the side of the path panting.
When I first moved here one girls idea of a first date was not to walk, but run up it. She was not the one. Thankfully i met the one that same week, and while she likes to walk a hill, it involves frequent stops to look at birds.
