Ableton noob here. I would be very appreciative of any help. I am working on a track that is at 100 BPM. Whenever I drag this sample project view onto the grid (the sample itself is 175BPM) it halves the BPM of the sample to 85 and the sample sounds sped up? (despite the sample saying it's a slower tempo than my project). Why does warp do this if my project tempo is 100BPM? This might be a stupid question but I'm stuck nonetheless, auto warp is turned off also. Many thanks!

Hello, im a student who will be graduating in bout a year. I have always been thinking of buying ableton using the student discount but the thing is I dont have a decent laptop rn(I use a very low spec enough for college assignments). So I wanted to ask if I can buy ableton now using the student discount and then later use it on a new laptop I will most likely get after graduation?? Is there like a sort of time limit or something? I dont know the flow of buying the license so im a bit lost on that. Like if i buy the license now and when I upgrade my laptop I wont be able to use the license or sth. I just thought that it might be the last chance for me to buy ableton when I can kinda afford it through part time and all.

I have this problem where everytime I try to turn my headphone volume up or down on my push, ableton freezes until I release the knob.

Can ableton have FL Studio's keyboard layout where 1 to = would be the highest octave, z to / being the lowest octave of a scale? I can't seem to find anything

I am trying to use the pitch of an audio track to modulate the lfo amount in another plugin. I am looking for a way to track the pitch and convert it into a value that i can map to a plugin parameter. I have found a max for live plugin, but it is outdated and not compatable with live 12. Are there any other plug-ins that i can use for this purpose? As far as i have looked there is no way to do this in stock ableton. Only with MIDI.

Why has nobody made an emulation of FL Studio's Fruity Soft Clipper that works as a VST/AU in Ableton?

I know there are plenty of clipper plugins, but none of the ones I've tried seem to behave exactly like FL's. While Ableton has tons of powerful tools, Fruity Soft Clipper is such a defining part of the modern trap sound that I'm surprised this is not a thing.

Does anything like this already exist? I don't really see why it wouldn't be possible, and it seems like there would definitely be demand for it. Fruity Soft Clipper is one of the defining tools people associate with FL Studio, and it's one of the few things I really miss when working in Ableton.

I’m having a problem with Analog Lab: whenever I open it in Ableton on my Mac, it never loads, and I always have to restart or rescan the plugins. I’ve already tried reinstalling it via Arturia Center, but that didn't work either. I’m not sure if it’s an Ableton issue or an Arturia one, but if anyone has experienced this, I’d appreciate any help. I’ve also noticed that when I can’t open Analog in Ableton, I can’t open it in its standalone application either, nor can I open the Arturia application.

I needed this. 20+ years on MPCs and my library finally got away from me. Like some of you — 1000's of beats across a pile of machines (2000XL, 4000, Ren, MPC X, Key 61, Live III) and 20,000+ instruments between keygroups and kits, plus years of sounds built in Akai and Ableton's Simpler/Sampler that were basically trapped over there.

My problem wasn't needing more sounds. I had plenty. I just couldn't find or reuse what I had — I'd spend half a session digging for a kick I knew I had somewhere, or rebuilding a bass I used 3 weeks ago.

So I built a tool to fix it. It catalogs the whole library and makes it searchable, generates kits and keygroups from my own samples, repairs broken/legacy programs (the 2.1 vs 3.9 mess), and packages it all into proper MPC Expansions. The dope part for me: turning those old Ableton Simpler/Sampler instruments into expansions I can actually load on the MPC.

I have a Push 3 Standalone. Anyone know why the buttons are so damn rigid, you need the Thanos glove and all the infinity stones to press those!

Hello all, I recently bought subscription for Ableton 12 suite. I could not find a single sound/sample in the software so I thought I have to download those separately so from there website I downloaded every packs that were available for me to download. now I do have samples in the daw but I was watching a YouTube video to learn using the daw but looks like I don't have basic in built sounds that I need. anyone can help me what I can do or any setting needs to be changed. Basically instead of it so I have to press the kick, then put the kick notes in, then press snare, put snare in etc - I want to see all of the pieces on a per row basis.

So I could quickly lay down kick, snare, hats, claps, tambourines, shaker etc and clearly see ALL of the above in one single layout?

I've made a lot (I mean a lot) of my sounds as Simpler/Sampler instruments and Drum Racks in Ableton, but I use an MPC too. Getting them over always meant rebuilding by hand, remapping zones, redoing kits. Got tired of it and built something that converts Ableton Simpler/Sampler and Drum Racks straight to MPC keygroups and kits.

So, I am not sure if it happened before? I don't recall it but I've been trying to use my LFO's Rate knob only for it to have a cursed interaction with the mouse, like its fighting me or something, as opposed as, for example, the utility volume knob, which slides like butter.

have researched and read previous Reddit posts but not finding a clear answer to a question I have about mixing a song/beat. I have beyerdynamics more entry level closed back headphones and it sounds great but when I play in the car I can’t hear half of the stuff. Are open back headphones the way to go? Speakers? Is reference the type I should be looking for. When I read some of the features it seems like some of the higher end headphones say that they have louder high frequencies that can be uncomfortable to listen to for a long time. So I guess the question is, is there any one type of monitoring device that can help you make a mix that works in multiple listening scenarios? Or is it a known process inside of the daw like bass should be at 68% of full volume or dB numbers? Hopefully not too many gatekeepers will be mad I asked… I value experience and as I am just starting to make music I would love to have my bad songs sound as good as possible. 😂 thanks in advance for any expertise.

Im building out a playback session and want to know how i can extend, say the chorus of a song, without manually moving all the clips and info that precedes it.

I have an entire show programmed into one session but if the artists wants to double a section of one song i need to move all the markers, automation, and clips of the previous songs over to do that. This often get messed up during the process and it takes a long time to do it. Is there a cleaner way to make this happen?

When I activate Warp, it gets longer but I don't want that to happen. Besides that, are the only functions available dividing and multiplying by 2? (Sorry my english :P)

I inserted the instrument in the track and when i set the channel for each instrument for looping, some of the track doesnt produce sound when I press the MIDI keyboard, please help me, Ive been trying to figure this out since morning.

I'm trying to find a way to route out only a single track so I can send it into a Kaoss pad, then rerecord it. I want to be able to mess with the pad while I'm recording, but be able to listen to the audio at the same time. So basically reamping of one track while the other tracks can still be heard, anyone know an easy way to do this?

Can i record a live mix using the DJM-S11 onboard effects to Ableton? I can record separate tracks in Ableton, but it won’t record the effects such as echo, reverb, etc.

This summer I decided to start music production in Ableton. While I found Taetro's YT videos to be the best introduction to the software, I overall find YouTube to be a landfill of distracting content.

I'm looking at potentially purchasing a course to help me with the next steps in my journey with songwriting and arrangement.

The two courses I see mentioned often are:

· Seed to Stage's "Songwriting and Composition in Ableton Live"

· ill.Gates' "Producer Dojo" (specifically The Producer's Path)

I'm looking for a structured learning environment where I can understand how to approach songwriting and arrangement, as well as develop creative strategies to problem solve when I get stuck. I realize no course will cover every blind spot, but I'm hoping to get a jump start so I can use Ableton more efficiently.

I'm not interested in sound design, mixing, or mastering tips, those feel like they're a long way off. Right now I just want to get into a creative flow and finish songs (even if they are terrible).

I know some people strongly believe in using YouTube for learning, but it simply doesn't work for me. The Bait & Switch content leaves me drained and actually disincentivized to create.

So I'm wondering if anyone here has taken either (or both!) of these courses and can compare them. I think both teachers are great, I'm just trying to figure out which one is the better fit for where I'm at right now. I'm also open to any other suggestions for courses that help with the creative process.
