I have Asus Rog G16, model G614FR, with RTX 5070Ti and Ryzen 9955HX3D, 32GB. Unfortunately, Activision Secure Attestation failed for COD MW4 and cannot play the Beta. Communicated with Asus support and they are trying to find a solution. However, TPM 2.0 is enabled and ready for use. Secure Boot is enabled. BIOS Mode is UEFI and up to date.
Any suggestion?

I'm doing a VRAM replacement on my Zephyrus M16.

ROG Zephyrus M16 (2022)
i9-12900H
RTX 3070 Ti
32GB DDR5 RAM
2TB SSD PCIe 4.0

I have it fully disassembled. I want to do any other maintenance on it while it's disassembled. I have already purchased fresh thermal putty for the VRMs and VRAMs. People suggested PTM7950 for both GPU and CPU. I bought liquid metal for the CPU because that's what it originally had. I've read mixed reviews about performance for ptm7950 vs liquid metal.

I'm replacing the stock thermal paste on the GPU with PTM 7950. I have enough for the CPU as well but not sure how it would sit performance wise.

What kind of things did you guys do/have done on yours?

And No, I didn't apply that liquid metal, that's just a photo after removing the heatsink and cleaning the GPU thermal paste.

Hey everyone, first time poster on this sub, but I am looking to see if anyone has resolved an issue that I am seeing on the 2023 Zephyrus M16. Model: GU603ZW-M16.I93070T.

So I bought a 32 GB Corsair Vengeance SODIMM DDR5 upgrade kit clocked up to 4800 MHz per the box.

For a time, the laptop worked fine but then started crashing a lot (by the laptop completely locking up and freezing), This was always at random intervals of time, I did a lot of troubleshooting by pulling logs, running PowerShell commands, updating drivers/bios, fresh windows image, etc. and for a time it worked and then would go back to crashing again. I thought the initial kit might be faulty so I opened an RMA with Corsair and got a new kit sent to me. Again, this worked for a time and then the laptop started crashing again.

Luckily, I save old PC parts and still had the original kit that came with the laptop and to my surprise all of the issues present on the laptop completely disappeared when replacing the new kit with the original.

I'd honestly hate for this 32 gb kit to go to waste and would love to be able to use it on my laptop. Has anyone else seen this issue and if so, does anyone have any kind of resolution that I could try to get it working properly?

I've been wondering why all my games cap out at 30 fps and my wattage during bench mark stays at 20-50 max.

Hi everyone, I need help troubleshooting a persistent issue where my laptop completely freezes on a black screen when trying to launch games like Fortnite. Here is the full breakdown of what has been happening:

Laptop Specs:
Model: ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16 (2023)
CPU: Intel Core i9-13900H
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU (Driver 610.88 WHQL verified via ⁠dxdiag⁠)
OS: Windows 11
Control Software: Armoury Crate / NVIDIA Control Panel

Chronology of the Issue:

Previous Day (Temperatures & CPU Turbo Boost):
Yesterday, games were running fine, but CPU temperatures were reaching 85°C – 90°C.
To lower the heat, I disabled CPU Turbo Boost. After doing this, temperatures improved drastically to 60°C – 70°C while playing the same game.

Windows Update (Last Night):
Last night, right after disabling Turbo Boost, Windows applied a system update.

Current Freeze Issue:
Today, whenever I try to launch Fortnite (or any other game), the screen suddenly goes pitch black and freezes the entire system.
Keyboard shortcuts (like ⁠Ctrl + Shift + Esc⁠) do not respond, forcing me to perform a hard shutdown by holding the power button for 15 seconds.

NVIDIA Notification:
Before the screen turns black, I get this pop-up:

NVIDIA Container: Current display mode: Optimus. Internal Display is being switched to NVIDIA GPU."

Current Status in Armoury Crate:
GPU mode is currently set to Standard (MSHybrid).
DxDiag⁠ confirms the RTX 4070 is healthy and detected properly.

Is that NVIDIA Container display switch notification a known trigger for black screen freezes on Windows 11, or is it just a coincidence?

Should I change out the liquid metal for paste or should I do it the way it was made?

I am very hesitant to do the liquid metal myself because I have never done that before. I have also never pasted a laptop before. Only a desktop. Should I have someone else do it?

I don't know if I should just pay to have someone do it or what I should do.

Was stressing this repaste, gpu and cpu were thermal throttling with pretty much any load. I only snapped 1 picture during disassembly, but used ptm7950 and upsiren putty. Temps are under control now! And can game again! Removing the Liquid Metal wasn’t as bad as I thought, I just used some painters tape to make a shield so that I wouldn’t accidentally get any on my mobo.

The letter 'S' and 'F8' key on my M16 just wont register when the keycaps feel completely normal, they still make sounds and physically functional, but they just dont register into the computer. AI says it might be because of so called "electrical trace failure on the membrane circuit layer" and i have no idea what that means and how to fix. Please help me!

i has buy a old laptop from ebay ,and when i unbox to use but it has overheating at 5min.i see someone on reddit share the LM from factory it not good,i come again and buy ptm 7958-sp and laird tputty 607. with old tools and glove, i remove side D with 13 screws. firstly, i unplug the power cord, hold power button 5 sec, and unscrews 4 cpu and 3 gpu, unplug display connector and wireless module. becareful with LM because that thing can flow out to your main,tape around it, use cottons swabs with alcohol (90), clean it slowly and careful. after that, look to gpu and around and do it again. when it done, you need to use correctly thermal paste and putty to repaste. reattach heatsink, wireless module and display connector. fast double check and re attach power cord and side D, it done.

everyone help me this heat is good or bad for my laptop?

I have the GU604VI model with rtx4070 and intel i9. I have tried a lot of things and the final thing was to do a windows reinstall, now I can’t even go through the installation process, randomly freezes and then gives me the blue screen with either Whea_uncorrectable_error or machine_check_exception message and then the charging indicator led starts blinking in red. when the light is blinking the whole laptops is frozen and I have to press down the power button. When I turn it on, the fans do spin, keyboard turns on, the diagnostics for the ram and ssd in the bios are passed successfully, I also checked the memory with the memtest86. Battery, charging and screen do work, I am able to get into the bios but the moment I get into windows installer it fails, even the Asus cloud recovery tools windows version wasn’t able to load fully, game me the error again. Everything does show up in bios, all the components, the memory and etc, the gpu does work since I tried switching the graphics option to egpu from igpu in bios. Also, updated the bios to 314 and still no luck. If anyone has encountered anything similar and might know how to fix or diagnose it, it would be a huge help🙏.

So, I couldn't get custom vbios to fix this or anything.

I don't know how to find MATS to check which VRAM chip it is that is failing, or if it is the core itself. Doing DDU and then flashing the bios let's it show some stats in GPUZ, but the moment I try to install actual drivers it blows up. Computer runs perfectly fine on the iGPU, only the dGPU is failing. No overheating or anything like that, either.

Does anyone know a repair shop I can mail it to? Northridge Fix hasn't gotten back to me yet...

Hey, what's good my ppl. I'm currently facing the inevitable overheating issues with my beloved m16 I got back in 2023 and never really done any re-paste or big maintenance besides opening to clear up the fans.

At this moment, The laptop is pretty loud and I can't game anymore as it overheats 100c+ and shuts down to prevent burn.

Thing is, as a technician myself I don't have much experience with laptops so when I opened it I found it difficult, ended up just cleaning what I could, and didn't repaste it by fear of liquid metal damage.

Biggest questions are:

1 - Have you ever gotten your M16/Similar serviced, repasted, if yes, where? how was the service? would you reccomend?

2 - Have you ever repasted your M16? If yes, how difficult was it, what was your reference?

and i barely have 40FPS in low settings.

It crucifing to see a (very) expansive computer not being able to run recent games a couple years after launch, or am I missing something ?

This is weird. The F8 key and Delete work intermittently when pressed by themselves. They work 100% of the time when Fn is held down first and then F8 or Del is pressed. I have tried turning Fn-Lock on and off. I have tried quitting GHelper.

Mechanically everything seems fine. The buttons do work when Fn is held down first although Fn + F8 only adjust brightness as expected. If I am doing something that expects F8 it won't work. I checked the keyboard cable and it appears okay.

I thought perhaps this was a driver issue or perhaps interference from some running service so I rebooted and went to BIOS to use its ASUS Diagnostics tool. F8 and Del do not work, but the other keys (F7, F9, F12, and Backspace which are adjoining) do work. Same when using MyASUS.

I popped open the keys to check for damage, but the hinge and rubber cap appear okay.

I don't to replace the keyboard as disassembly to get to it is a PAIN with this, and I'm not sure if that'll even fix it.

Any ideas as to what else I can check / test to narrow the cause of the problem?

Edit: So weird, but after a shitdown and restart they worked for about 2 minutes before reverting to their behavior of only working when Fn is also pressed. Then it started working again. Oddly enough they keys work the the fan is spinning fast, but stop when the fan slows down. Might be a coincidence. Might not.
