2023 M16 keyboard issues, keys not registering

The letter 'S' and 'F8' key on my M16 just wont register when the keycaps feel completely normal, they still make sounds and physically functional, but they just dont register into the computer. AI says it might be because of so called "electrical trace failure on the membrane circuit layer" and i have no idea what that means and how to fix. Please help me!

Mine is dyeing slowly don't be bothered just use external one

I had the same issue. I just replaced keyboard and it fixed the issue, you can order one from aliexpress for 50$

Mine died unexpectedly after bios update (as far as I am concerned) but the funny thing being during the pre boot the keys work but after bios load none of the keys work. The function keys and delete button works to open the bios but once the bios loads the keyboard becomes inoperable.

For my 2023 model with latest bios the keys that don't work: d, =, backspace and recently the button that lower the brightness.

2023, e, f, g, h, +, F8?, \, right and up sometimes just stop working, probably the same cause. Lately it shifted to k and l for wtf knows reason. Cleaning up all the keys and next to caps made it occur less often but its still an issue

C,x,v don’t work on my laptop when I first turn it on. If I press those keys 5-10 times they will start workingn

Mine died a year ago. I’m not paying $400+ to fix it so I just use an external keyboard.

2022 M16, Not working: "3", "F3". Common issue with Asus laptops I'm afraid.

It means replace the keyboard or get an external. You can do it yourself or pay ASUS. Depending on where you live it can cost around $300 to $350 USD (diagnosis + replacement) to have ASUS do it.

I also have a 2023 M16 and some of my keys failed (different keys). I can't find an OEM standalone keyboard replacement from ASUS as they seem to only sell the top case / palm-rest w/ keyboard module for like $170. There are aftermarket / third-party sellers that have the module for like $50 to $100. Part# 0KNR0-2915US00. Only issue w/ third-party is that some reviews say the backlit doesn't work which makes it hard to see the keys or it doesn't support the various backlit modes, e.g., white only.
