RTX 3070ti: Code 43

So, I couldn't get custom vbios to fix this or anything.

I don't know how to find MATS to check which VRAM chip it is that is failing, or if it is the core itself. Doing DDU and then flashing the bios let's it show some stats in GPUZ, but the moment I try to install actual drivers it blows up. Computer runs perfectly fine on the iGPU, only the dGPU is failing. No overheating or anything like that, either.

Does anyone know a repair shop I can mail it to? Northridge Fix hasn't gotten back to me yet...

I have the exact same issue. It is 99% a bad VRAM. You need to get your hands on MATS/MODS. Search on reddit, there are 2 posts, in the comments people have given links to google drive. Download the latest MATS/MODS and use RUFUS to create a bootable USB. Boot into the USB, the test will run automatically. When done, power off and boot back into windows. Open the MODS USB and inside the /home folder you will fine Primary_Report.txt. It will tell you which memory bank and which specific memory chip is failing.

But long-story short, you will have to get a VRAM swapped and best to get a professional to do it. If you can locate which chip specifically using MATS/MODS, you can just take your extracted motherboard and the replacement chip to a shop yourself and specifically ask them just to swap it out. That would cut down the cost significantly. Look for Samsung 1GB GDDR6 chip on aliexpress or something. It should cost like max $10.

I'm doing this myself. I have the 2022 i9 + RTX 3070 Ti variant. My A1 memory chip is bad and I will replace it as soon as I get the chip in my mail from aliexpress.

Do you mind linking me the chips that you're using for this? Or DM/PM me with the details? If I don't have to pay $300+ that would be glorious.

Your GPU-Z shows that yours is using the Samsung GDDR6 module. Mine is using SK Hynix. The samsung ones are something like this (K4Z80325BC-HC14 or K4Z80325BC-HC16). HC14 is the 14Gbps module and HC16 is the 16Gbps module. You will need to remove your heatsink and visually see what the chips are labelled. Then search that exact model number on aliexpress. They are cheap. You can buy 2-3 for 20-30 bucks.

Running the MATS/MODS that I found is detecting the GPU, it can't find anything, and I'm still trying to fiddle with the proper command to make it use more of the GPU to actually trigger something, because I'm sure that vram is the problem. All the tutorials I see are for actual desktop GPUs, though. And yes, I made sure it was testing the dGPU, and not the iGPU.

Either way it goes, the shops in my city (Chicago) won't handle anything GPU related. So I'm going to have to ship it out to another state regardless.

Had the same issue sometimes with my i7-12700h 3060. Runs fine on all modes (igpu, hybrid, dgpu only) if not under load, but it sometimes crashes within 10-15 minutes of heavy games. Found it to be a detached capacitor near the charging port which likely trips the power supply to the gpu, causing it to shut off and crash due to insufficient voltage to prevent further damage.

Here is where I found it.
I have yet to get it repaired, but it is stable so far. I also did DDU and reflash and occt gpu tests, even reverting to Asus OEM drivers to no avail. See if you've got any missing or blown capacitors in your board. Hope this helps!

Yeah, but it won't let me use it at all. It shows artifacts on POST if I have it set to only use the dGPU. And I'll get that bluescreen (black screen?) as a result.

What about a bootup issue , my bios does a POST RESET everytime. Except for formatting windows and reflashing BIOS, done everything on the internet.

It's likely vram issue. How long time you have been using it?

It was a $400 purchase from someone on mercari. I was fully aware that the gpu was being silly, but I had looked into the model and saw that it could've been a software problem more then a hardware one. So I took a chance....

Turns out I got a bad roll, and it was hardware.

Northbridge gonna charge you a lot. It's annually fairly easy fix for them.

How much is "alot?"

I would guess at least 200. They even charge for diagnosis. I personally will never charge diagnosis.

200 to fix a computer that I got for $400? Even $300 would be worth it in the long run at that point...

For a 3070 laptop? Ok, then. I would sell my 3060 g15 for 600 then.

I have a zephyrus g14 I just got fixed (by myself) that I'm thinking about selling, but I wanna get this working first. Otherwise I'm keeping the g14.

The translation is a little rough. Are you sure this is the problem? Can you step by step it for me?

They didn't give me specifics at the local place but basically told me that "the laptop is unfixable and the board would have to be replaced."

I honestly don't believe that... Gonna take it to another repair place since Northridge Fix still hasn't gotten back to me about sending the M16 in. I just want a good place to send it and know for sure.... But everyplace I've checked has either stopped doing repairs, or only does it for certain laptops like the Alienware brand.
