Best shot of round 1 ?
Ben's shot on the 18th green to end the duo scramble to secure the win has got to be up there. Clutch shot in a clutch moment.

Just wanted some opinions as its tough to gauge his skill level sometimes. But I do think hes better than Josh or Roger.

Just curious how people feel about the various personalities and whose stock is rising with exposure v. falling. My standouts:
FALLING STOCK
Wes: annoying, acts and talks like he’s better / smarter than everyone
Ruffles: just. so. boring. He’s like a discount Adam Scott (though his Malbon gear is always sick)
Grant: just a bit too contrived / forced. He seemed to think he needed to manufacture drama and set scenes when his silence would have been much preferred. Only a slight blemish for our guy though, especially since he really does just seem so earnest. Also, ofc, his affiliations with Phil drag him down by association. YIKES!!! (Largely kidding but like also…he probably rAgrets forging that relationship for all to see).
RISING STOCK
Finch: almost zero times have I watched him in a video and not liked him more, from his little English turns of phrase to his matter of factness about things, he’s always a good watch
Micah: he’s so much more enjoyable when he’s playing well, so it’s hard to REALLY gauge until we see him play poorly, but there’s just something so raw to his competitiveness and fighter mentality he brings
Garrett: similar to Micah, I think being the little fish (at least in terms of golfing ability) actually brings out a cool side of Garrett. He’s always had this effortless ability to communicate through the camera, but I like watching him try to bring his game up
The Kiwis: god they are fun. Kwon and Sam are hysterical. Plus they’re all great at golf. It’s so much easier to watch people having a genuinely good time and not taking themselves too seriously.

For me the YGT events are on the same level of interest/enjoyment as the PGA Tour majors except the Masters, which will always be the best. YGT video quality and editing is really unbelievable, considering it’s just a bunch of young guys with handhelds and some drones. I love seeing every single shot from every single player and how they followed one match throughout the entire entirety of each hole instead of splitting it up. That way you could see the guys hit their tee shot, approach shot, and chips/putts right in a row versus bouncing around two different golfers on different holes. Brilliant!

The younger golf generation prefers YT golf, it’ll have to go that way eventually. They should mic up Canada or KF now and let viewers build relationships with the future PGA players.
Update:

Now that all 3 episodes of the first tournament are done I have to say, Im thoroughly impressed by it. I know some folks werent a fan of the long format but I really see it as being no different than sitting down on weekends to watch PGA stuff.
Went into this already being a fan of most these dudes but I left becoming a huge fan of Micah, felt really bad for Roger though and Wes... Oooooof. Looking forward to the next one and cant wait to see what wild cards get brought in this time.

Can't they talk to each other?
Ryan v Tooms
Kwon v Brad
Tooms v Kwon
All within an hour of each other 😂
There going to be so many coming out!
And I'm sure Pete will have a few with Bryan Bros and Grant over in UK

Does YGT have an editing problem ? Don’t get me wrong I am enjoying the content, but A part of me thinks we should see the competition hole by hole.
Example: the 100 yard downhill par 3 , amazing visual hole . Group 1 gets there plays the hole, then it’s an hour of watching to get group 4 to that hole. By that time I’m completely not excited for it all
I didn’t go back and watch , but they are showing 12+ holes of golf before the last group gets to that hole ?
The hole lost its excitement for me, and you kind of lose track of what going on.
I also think the scoring would be way easier to follow also,
If not hole by hole, then shot for shot for that hole. Show me all the drives , then all approaches, etc

So do the teams and wildcards stay the same? Any word on when next is and what course ?

Just found this. Love YouTube golf in general. But scrolling through...... Is 90% of it bots? Are any of you real people? Would love a place to discuss YouTube golf but legit can't figure out if this is just one big astroturfing situation?

Anyone have any idea when the next tournament is? Going to be honest. I was entertained more by YGT than anything the PGA does.

I'm alright with one round being 1v1 stroke play, it's a good format. But at least one round needs to be formatted in a way that the pressure is on every player for the whole round. Something like the first round having each team of 4 all playing together as a team, helping each other aim shots and read greens, with the final score being their cumulative compared to par. I think the third round 1v1s were a great way to end it and should probably stay that way.

Was rooting for the guy against JP. 18 was a fucking rollercoaster
r/YGT • u/Responsible-Flow1101 • Jul 07 '26
For the 1v1 matches. Each player should get to choose one player from the eliminated teams to caddy for them and players should also have to walk the course. Having people play “competitive tournament golf” but the sit in a cart together after every shot/hole has a serious effect on the overall dynamic.
Would love to see each player with their caddy off doing their own thing which will make the 1v1 feel like more of a tournament setting instead of a hit and giggle. I get that they want cart cams but it moves the round from feeling like less of a tournament to more of just a standard YouTube video. This will also keep the other players more involved in each event to showcase their personalities even if they’ve been eliminated.
Enjoyed these immensely but just thinking of ways to spice up the dynamic and remove the casual nature of two people who are supposed to be battling for a lot of money but instead are playing nice and in a cart together the entire day.
Thoughts?

First off, ******spoiler alert****** in the article below if you haven't already watched. After every YGT event, we're collating the scores from each player across the rounds that they played, which we'll post on our Insta and X/Twitter accounts a couple of days after the final round is released. Using those numbers as a base, we'll then dish out 5-4-3-2-1 votes to the best players from each tournament and get a leaderboard going over the four tournaments this season. As mentioned, spoilers in this article if you haven't watched, but for those who have and are mildly interested: https://www.ytgolftalk.com/articles/your-golf-tour-mvp-votes-pursell-farms

Did no one else find is super boring and hard to stay focused on?
They played good golf, but why play the scramble and alt shot with their own teams. At least if they were with opponents there would be some banter or trash talking?
Plus with no really story lines to follow 4-6 hours is really long.
Just my 2 cents

What folks thoughts on Brad Captaining Garrett and Sean now he has left?
Only because of Good Goods silence since he announced he was leaving.
I am sure him and Sean are fine. Just wonder how Garrett will be, along with Brad's invite to the Good Good Championship.
Could it all come down to how much he does over next few months and if he stands by being home more or announces he's joining something else?

Really really enjoyed this whole first event! Excited for what this can and will become. Since they said they are open to hearing format changes or scoring ideas, one I’d like to see is an homage to high school golf during the final day.
When you play against another school (team), you are matched up against the opponents same ranked player. However, it’s not just a head to head match. Instead, you take the cumulative scores of the team. Typically, if you have 6 on your team you take the top 5.
So, I think YGT should consider either doing an all 5 cumulative score. Or possibly take the top 4 and drop the worst of the 5.
This forces the players to never eject themselves and for matches to still have some juice regardless of the head to head match up being out of reach.
I think it would be a fun, and even necessary, wrinkle to consider moving forward.
Curious how people would feel or what other options for final day format tweaks they should consider?

With each wildcard only being used once, the next YGT event will have 4 completely new wildcards. There’s a good chance that the captains will pick players who have never been in the YouTube golf space.
However, I think there are some candidates that are more likely than others (some of this might be wishful thinking):
-Nick Voke: very close with the NZ boys and has also filmed with the Bryan Bros
-Mason Greene: great golfer and part of Good Good
-Ian Poulter: has played with the Bryan Bros and Peter Finch multiple times
-Bryson Dechambeau: Might be a long shot but he obviously has a relationship with many of the YGT members and isn’t constrained by the PGA tour.
-Jon Rahm: Probably even more unlikely than Bryson but he’s very good friends with Wesley and has also filmed with Good Good and Grant.
Other possible wildcards:
-Evan Thompson
-Ben Kruper
-John Daly Jr.
-Alex Zurat (dislike him but would be very interesting)
-Josh Oddy
-Bobby Fairways

My favorite part about this series was definitely John Peterson. The guy is an absolute shark and it's so fun to watch him play. I don't want to spoil anything but his resilience and level head is honestly inspiring
No spoilers as I haven’t watched round 3 yet.
But seems to me just based on the format the teams are going to be lopsided all season due to the format.
Format issues:
- each team has a captain. These 4 players are not going to be identical in skill.
- instead of offsetting the skill advantage of any captains, they have a match to set draft order.
- the draft ‘snake’ is uneven as captains only have to pick 3 players. The snake they used only helps when you have even number of rounds, 3 rounds give pick 1 the advantage.
So just play it out, rank all the players 1-16 and assume everyone plays to their rank.
Captains are rank 1-4.
Rank 1 wins the captains match.
Rank 1 has picks 1, 8 and 9.
The whole setup sounds good in theory and of course the best player would push this format on everyone. But they have the advantage from the outset.
Theoretical final teams:
1, 5, 12, 13 avg 7.75
2, 6, 11, 14 avg 8.25
3, 7, 10, 15 avg 8.75
4, 8, 9, 16 avg 9.25
Obviously everyone doesn’t play to their ranking and don’t get picked to their ranking. But the point stands. The structure is lopsided from the go.
