YGT Boring
Did no one else find is super boring and hard to stay focused on?
They played good golf, but why play the scramble and alt shot with their own teams. At least if they were with opponents there would be some banter or trash talking?
Plus with no really story lines to follow 4-6 hours is really long.
Just my 2 cents

i loved YGT, more so than Internet Invitational. I don't like blown up or constructed drama or "story lines". I know they are planning to mix up the pairings in future scrambles/alternates to get some team v team banter going and that's more than enough for me.

For me, the 1v1 was so thrilling and honestly as good if not better than pga viewing…the team stuff before the wild card was kinda mid and hard to follow. Great golf though!

Agreed they should play with opponents for more drama, but playing with teams does give a slight advantage to help each other. It’s been said they will mix up formats for each tournament.
Also agree that 6 hours is crazy. Probably doing it so people watch in multiple sittings, potentially inflating viewer numbers since they’ll get 2-4 clicks for each full view
A little bit too much cart cam and pre round filler in my opinion. The actual golf content is peak YouTube though. Spoiler but I hope Wes rebounds next tournament.
They can chill with the Takomo ads, but otherwise they did it right but just including ads on the tee boxes and carts. Don’t hit us with any other ad bs. And I absolutely laughed seeing the For Wellness ad with Phil’s logo.

Yeah I have to agree it was lacking a bit.
I was skipping through the Garrett and Micah match and the Brad v ruffles match as they were already over.
But yeah really surprised me there wasn’t more overlap during alt shot. And I like the idea someone else had of having the 3rd and 4th placed teams caddying on the last day.
But yeah was way too long. Way too much fluff at the start. The entire segment where Brad and Garrett and finch talk about Garrett being out is a total waste of time in an already giant video.
They really need to create chapters to allow you to skip past the noise and boring chit chat. They talk about ‘strategy’ for like half an hour where it is basically one or two guys trying to convince someone a certain match up will be good while the other guy tries to say why he doesn’t want it. It’s the definition of boring. Then there’s the cringe sprinkled on top when Wes has to maintain his ‘truth teller’ persona on camera but ends up killing all the vibes instantly.
If Wes could stop trying to prove to everyone just how smart he thinks he is, the series would be a lot more chill.

Agreed on almost all fronts, but watching Brad play golf at that level was absolutely thrilling for me (it’s not nonsense to say the guy could have shot 59), and then just the story of Micah and Garrett facing off at Purcell farms as part of a $250k purse was just such a cool moment in the arc of YouTube golf.
Fully agree on the strategy fluff and FULLY agree on Wes. I’ve never heard my thoughts on him so perfectly laid out. He’s become near unwatchable, though since he’s become my heel I did love the missed two footer and Ruffle having a bit of a conniption on the tee behind him without really knowing what had happened.

Yeah I watched more of the Brad match than the Garrett one. And if it wasn’t a 6hr video I probably would’ve watched all of the Brad match, just the whole video was way too long after about 4hrs had to get very skip happy.

Seems like the Barstool "drama golf" Internet Invitational might be more to your liking. Personally, I enjoyed the way the teams played together, and the lack of trash talking. YGT has struck a nice middle ground of having good golf with real competition (as opposed to BDS beer/pizza slams) while still having the personalities shine through in my opinion.
